$639's the price for the top and bottom together?

I'd have bought it for that. I've fondled the thing before. I thought it felt as well-made as my US General stuff, but looked twice as nice (stainless > red). Last time I looked, they had only marked it down by $100 at my nearest store, though.

It's a one piece package

Good deal, I saw them marked down to $1598 a few weeks ago and laughed.

Edit: Looks like the lowest price around me is still 1298. I'd bite at 639 with a 10% coupon if it ever gets that low around here.

Were you able to find it on their website? If so what did you search for?

My lowes called. That was just the floor model. The rest are 949, so my Lowes was willing to match that.

I would think so.

I'd buy it at $40, just to compare cutting with the adjustable clamping shoe vs my 12v Milwaukee, which doesn't have that feature.

They're still $76 around here and $88 at the big river.

129.00 here so i'd say it's a good deal at 40.

Same here. There was a time where this thread was flourishing, and I was getting those 60% off items every couple days on good stuff!

Now, I haven't seen much at all worth buying in months...and I have 4 Lowes stores near me

Agreed here too, sadly. Im noticing overall there havent been really stellar clearances lately....I think stores are starting to get smart about what and how much of it they stock. Like how HD stopped selling large stationary tools in store....I got loads of deals on jointers, planers, drill presses, etc. Now you can only special order them from the store.

The Ideal stuff posted above was cleared out a month or two ago near me. There are some bits and pieces left but nothing great.

The bessey stuff was the last big sale I saw locally... A lot of of the vises ended up on craigslist actually- same with the $189 HD tool boxes. Seems like we've got someone locally that is grabbing everything.

It may have to do with the coming Holiday season. Seems like a lot of the clearance deals at retailers dry up about this time, things go back to regular price for the shopping crazy months, then what's left go back on clearance after the holidays. With any luck they'll have some decent "Holiday Specials", maybe.

It seems my local store is getting wiser on slowing the deep discounts down.
For example- all of the Bosch router bits are being cleared out, but discounts are only one or two dollars on a 20-30 dollar item.

One or two dollars off is not a clearance. I honestly have no idea why stores do that as I cannot imagine a dollar off pushes someone over the edge to buy something. I think it's kinda stupid to knock that little off the price, there's no point.

This assumes people are not complete morons though, so anything is possible.

Funny. I bought the 3 wing cutter and the mandrel for it, sitting on the clearance rack, because I know I will need one coming up and didn't realize Lowe's sells them. I didn't care if it wasn't a deep enough discount.

Although I agree if you are going to clear them out, go for it and clear them out.

I managed a rite aid pharmacy in a previous life...... If we had items that would not sell all we did was move them to the end cap of the isle and people would buy them out in a day for some reason.

My lowes is discounting their stock of Crescent adjustable wrenches. Got a 12" for 7.99 and an 8" U.S.A. made for 7.78.
They are also discounting their Bostitch levels, I am going to keep an eye on those to see if they get any lower.

I stopped by the Hinesville, GA store earlier. Their clearance prices are going back up! Noticed a three-ton jack with stands at $76 a couple of weeks ago but a few days ago it was priced at $100. The Triple Cut was $4.98 and is now $7-something, while the Hypercoil light jumped from $6.98 to over $10. Also, the Porter Cable Clampsaw went up around $10, though the radio and inflator (the only other 18v PC items in stock) each dropped a fair amount. I'm hoping the Ideal tools go lower; while I have little need for them, at 50% or better off they'd find a good home. For the past few months they've hovered at 30% off.

Stopped by today and found the Wiss notchers marked down to $1.56. They had been $7-ish and I resisted hoping they'd go down more.
Also got a wire brush, for 45 cents, down from $4.99 and the 2 pc Kobalt lighted extensions for $1.

They don't show up online, but there was a full cart of lag shields on clearance at my local store today for about a quarter a box. These were packs containing between 10-25 metal sleeves that are put into concrete (or concrete blocks) to hold lag screws instead of using Redheads or Tapcons. They had both long and short versions of the shields, and all were $9-13 a box originally.

They also had 2-packs that included 2 lag bolts plus the 2 lag shields -these were a whole 11 cents each.

I have this thread to thank for a few deals so I'm am hoping this helps someone else get a deal - good luck!
