They should just throw all that **** away. MAJOR faux pas...
The San Jose airport Lowes only had two items with a yellow tag, and they weren't marked down very much. Still, I found it curious that a recently introduced product line would have something on clearance so quickly.
I wonder how long it takes before they decide they screwed up?
With Southwire, it really looked as if they were cramming it down everyone's throat. If they respected their customers, they would have introduced a few high quality tools and let them establish their own reputation. Instead they eliminated all of the old-line tools and introduced an new brand of Chinese made tools at the same price point. They must have believed their customers were spending $30 for a pair of pliers at Lowes when their customers were spending $30 for Klein pliers that happened to be sold at Lowes.
Here is my take: Guys that spend $30+ on a hand tool aren't doing that because they believe that's what pliers cost. They are more likely than most people to know where to get $1 and $5 pliers. They are spending the money because they want Klein (or Knipex) pliers, just like the previous pair that lasted a decade of hard use. If they wanted to take a risk and switch brands, there are plenty of brands that claim equivalent quality and cost much less.
"You ordered filet mignon. Here is chuck steak. It's the same shape, from the same animal and nutritionally equivalent, so we are still charging you $80. And here is that grape juice you ordered as well."
