Is the hillman hardware marked down on the tag? Yellow tags? Can you give me an item number to check locally?

The ones at my local store had a clearance tag stuck to each drawer that had at least one packet of screws in it that was marked down. Approximately one out of ten of the individual packets in each drawer was marked down. There was no pattern as to what was chosen. It seemed like a random sample was picked for clearance.

The discount on each was around 90% on them. For example, a pack of four screws that were $1.76 are lowered to $0.16 per pack. Even certain large SS bolts such as 3/4" x 6" that were over $10 originally, are now around $1.75 each. I picked up about $5 worth of screws that I may never use, but if I find a use for a few it will be worth more than the total price.

The Lowes near the San Jose airport had the Hillman hardware on a rack near the registers. Most were unmarked, but had a discount over 95%.

The fasteners I found were small SS machine screws, 3/4" SS bolts 3" to 6", and a few 1/2" SS lag screws 4"-6".

There were some larger galvanized bolts, but I didn't note what size.

Hilman stuff wasn't on sale in my area. There were a few items in the bins on clearance, maybe five things and they were of no interest and no great discount.

Oh well, maybe next time.

Huge score in Vermont with the Hillman hardware. I walked out with a 25lb bag of SS lags and bolts for $8.25. Most were $0.04 or so!

Thanks for the heads up.

I picked up a 40 piece socket set yesterday. It is not a bad little set and the ratchet is better than I expected. I think I will pick up a couple of extensions to add to it for an in the car/ junk yard set.

cant beat that 40 piece socket set for 20 its really nice for that cheap of a price. I tried to not buy it but I couldn't help my self. Its hard for me to pass up half or more off items like this lol. It is extremely compact and that's what I wanted in the trunk it goes...

I picked up a couple of the 40 pc socket sets a previous time they were down to $20. I keep one set at the gym and other in the trunk of my car. I put a lot of use on the gym set and no issues. Really nice sets for $20.

I picked up this Reciprofit tool set on clearance.
First time I've ever seen these, but for under $10, I figured one day I will be glad I have it.

I was eyeballing these yesterday when I stumbled across the yellow tag. Never used anything like it, so I dunno. I was going to give it a shot, but I figured best case scenario was I fall in love with them and can never get them again because they've all been clearanced out, leaving me with a useless adapter...so I passed.

I picked up a couple of the Kobalt overhead storage kits for $35. They range anywhere from $26 to $83 in a 50 mile radius.

Ouch, only one in stock in any store in my area, at $93. At $30-40 I'd pick one up for sure.

This is bad, I'm heading out of town this weekend so I'm trying to find something available on the cheap at the stores I pass. None of the recent deals posted are in stock though, which is probably a good thing :)

Picked up this ingersoll rand 1/2 air ratchet for $29.04

2h4ykw6.jpg

I snatched up the display in Savannah, GA for $22.68 this morning. Also picked up an 8-piece electricians screwdriver set for $7 and a couple of 2-piece pocket screwdriver sets for $0.63 each.

They had a hard handle 12-piece screwdriver set for $4-something, larger screwdrivers for $3-something, and even a few sets of US-made Kobalt wrenches for around $22.

I wasn't tracking the hardware clearance; most of the time I walk through the outdoors tools and cooking before checking out the tow/haul stuff and tools. Picked up a tow strap for under $10 a month ago--original price was over $30.

Unfortunately, the only Lowe's I have within 30 miles has no competition outside of Ace Hardware, so the "clearance" prices are ridiculous. Picked up a Porter Cable 18v lithium set (impact, drill, flashlight, charger, two batteries) for $63 in Savannah two years ago. The Hinesville, GA store wants $109 for a display drill alone.

My kids learned about my love for Lowe's clearances real quick when I returned from Afghanistan. I took them to at least six Richmond, VA-area stores when I took leave a few months ago...

Oh, and got a few deals mentioned in other threads when Lowe's was changing the designs/numbers of some of their pipe and other wrenches.

2$ oil filter wrench. I'll post a number tomorrow if you guys are interested as my phone died just after taking this picture. Can't seem to find it on thief site. They were 8$ marked down for 2$. They had about 10 and were in the automotive section near the ratchet straps and truck toolboxes.

I went to the store where I ordered my $35 cart, which was promptly canceled due to online showing 1 in stock, but none in the store. Spoke with the manager, and one should be on it's way from another store that had them in stock (though they showed $93). So it should be here one day this week, we shall see.

....Ah the continued saga. Was told it should take about a week to come in. At a week and a half I called to check on the status, after being on hold for 20 minutes the girl said she put her eyes on it, it was in the store, ok thanks, be there in a couple days to get it. 2 days later (first chance I had to get up there, hour drive) I get there, no sign of it. No one knows where it is. Finally get the girl that laid her eyes on it it, who couldn't be bothered on her break, though I had already been waiting for 45 minutes or so with a very fussy 7 month old in my arms. She says she brought it up front... ok, finally come to find out, after reviewing security tape up front (because apparently the computers tell them nothing) it got sold, up front, at the customer service desk even though my name and invoice was taped to the box. Now 1.5 hours with a pissed off 7 month old at the store.

So... now the count is $38 for a box I still don't have, 2 1 hour drives to the store=4 hours driving total, and about 3 hours total waiting time for them to tell me they don't know what happened. Yea, I'm royally pissed...Lowes headquarters is on my way to this store, might have to make a pit stop on my next trip.

They are trying to find me another one...I flat out refuse to come pick it up this time, they charge a $59 delivery fee (which I am outside of their radius to deliver). Either they waive the fee and the distance limit, and put it on my doorstop, or I go in, pick it up and they have both the box and that delivery fee on a merchandise credit for my trouble. I'm giving them another week to make it right, or I'm chatting with the BBB and their headquarters.

You are a trooper for waiting 1.5 hours on them...I don't last more than 15 minutes in those situations.

Well...I was kinda hopeful it would turn up and I wouldn't drive a hour home empty handed. My daughter was the trooper for waiting that long. Though she was sure to leave them a present in the nearest trash can. :lol_hitti

Found a Kobalt 7pc 3/8 drive SAE flex socket set item# 236279 marked down to $19.97 from $34.97 today. Didn't get one because I just got the GW set a few weeks ago, but if you are looking for a cheap set of these, here you go.
