2x6x16 #2 on clearance at several local stores (item number 33789), purchased 100 from one store for $2.00 each, 200 from another store for $4.50 each (they won't price match eachother - lame!)
I called in instead of calling customer service and he price matched the $2.00, I now have 478 2x6x16s... enough for all the work on my barn, my future 40x60 pole barn, and then some
Check the cull lumber pile or talk to lumber desk about it.

all trailer items are on sale here in one store, most of it is over 60% off. Prices vary wildly here though, most stores are full price so search the one's near you. All most all Reese, carry-on and perterson products where on sale in this store.

Happens to me so often that I'm surprised when they actually do have a clearance item in stock after I've ordered. About the same at Home Depot too.

Difficult to find because they are inside a display box standing up on end.
Almost walked right by it.
Box is small but long. Went to a few stores before I found one.
Which was by the tools display area on the way to the restrooms.
Installed mine yesterday. Got a lot of lumber up off the floor.

HD goes to a penny at the end of the clearance cycle, but Lowes goes back to full price once the inventory in the store shows zero. In this case their inventory was off by one. They really had two and when what they considered the last one was sold the price went back up to full price (even though there was actually one on the shelf). You can talk with a manager in the tool department but they don't have a lot of options. I have sometimes had luck if I have a receipt showing the price at their store the day before, etc.
Went home, and now the Lowes web site says that my store does not have any.
lowes online inventory is 100% accurate 100% of the time.

Same here. My store had like 6 of them. Came up full price.
my store seems to have done an inventory on the tool section, lots of things that where clearance are now back to full price., I was waiting for some of the bosch tools posted weeks ago to drop, they never went anywhere near the prices posted, and now there back at full price and showing 0 stock on the website.

Couldnt find a garage door opener at Home Depot, so I started checking Lowes. Found this Genie for $99. Its no penny opener, but I really needed one and it is super quiet compared to my old Craftsman chain one!

Still 198 at my area lowes.
For those folks that are seeing back to full price on Lowes clearance items, that's how the Lowes pricing system works. If the inventory system at the store thinks there is no stock of a clearance item, it jacks the price back up to the full retail.
Many times there is still one or two of the item available. Sometimes you can get a manager to mark it down to the clearance price if you can show them a price online or at another store. Sometimes not.
