I got a chuckle at my last trip to Lowes.

All of the Stanley replacements for the recently cleared out Kobalt tool sets (ratchets, sockets, etc) are ALSO on clearance now.

SMH.

On clearance or just on sale? Might make sense if they're trying to promote them. :dunno:

I posted this about a month ago. Can anyone come up with a link to any of this stuff? Can't find anything on the website or on google about Kobalt 3/4" drive stuff. Usually if you google "lowes 123456" (item number) the page will come up, even if it says "this item is no longer available on Lowes.com"
Hard to see, but if you zoom in you can see item numbers on the packages

This reminds me when my dad gave me a 3/4 craftsman breaker bar. I'll never use it in the automotive world.

Lutron Lumea dimmer switches are heavily discounted in Oregon/Washington. Cheapest I found was $11...they regularly go for $30-40..........not sure if there's any room to make something on ebay unless you are using coupons+discount gift cards.

Kobalt sure seems to clearance a lot of **** all the time.

I'm waiting for some kobalt **** I have to break to see how the warranty them since they are no longer made.

Anyone know what happens if you have a drill or nail gun that kobalt no longer makes. What do they give you when you return it?

I bought a 25 foot tape measure that was Kobalt brand when it finally broke and I returned it to the store they told me to just grab whatever 25 foot tape measure I wanted off-the-shelf and they replaced it with the one I grabbed.

Lowes/Kobalt warranty is very random in how they will honor the replacement. I needed replacement for a tape that came from a tool kit and they did not want to replace it since the individual tapes were nicer/bigger/longer etc so the employee and MOD just kept saying, "we can't give you a replacement tape because they are more expensive than this tape WOULD COST IF SOLD ALONE" uh what? just replace my defective tape please, finally they let me get the cheapest Kobalt tape on the rack. 15 mins wasted to get a replacement and they treated me like I was trying to get something for free etc.

A year later, a 3/8's ratchet locked up. Took it for replacement and the clerk wanted to investigate why it was locked up, what was I doing with it to break it etc. Very confrontational like it was her tool that I personally broke. Keep in mind, this ratchet looked brand new with no markings and in fact had been in the back of my draw and probably only used 10 times. I suspect the lack of use was the cause but I didnt want to take it apart and decided to exchange it. Again, 20 mins, 3 employees before I left with a replacement.

****** employee attitude? just interrupt them and ask for the store manager. he should help you, and you can point out the employee's lousy attitude problem at the same time.

now if the manager gives you ****, that's when you escalate it..

DeWalt

He could become the next L. Ron Hubbard and start a religion around getting penny items.

In all seriousness though, SPN contributes a lot to the forum and takes the time to help others that contribute. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that are unwilling and want to be spoon feed everything.

Gotta stash them at Lowes else someone else will ****** them up at Home Depot.

. . . . . . . . dayuuuum, we'd be in hog heaven !! ;)

You know move stuff from HD to Lowes when needed . . .
. . . . . AND . . . move Lowes stuff to HD just at Penny time !!! :D . . :bounce:

Question for you guys that have been doing this for a while. I sometimes find deals in the store and the prices match the prices online, but these items do not show up under the clearance section for that store. They may be marked down to 50% cheaper than another store, but when I search the clearance online they are no where to be found.

So how do I find the items that have been marked down for a particular store? I would like to find these online (because they are obviously listed online), and not walk through multiple stores looking each isle. Is there any good way to do this? And I do not have any particular items I am looking for, i just want to see what I can pick up cheap even if its not listed on the clearance section.

Only way is to keep switching your store online and re-searching. Very time consuming process...

the "clearance" section on the website is usually garbage (just search "clearance").

I do about 10 to 15 searches in each store, click the "in-store" tab, then sort price high to low. I search brands usually, such as "dewalt", or categories such as "drill".
You'll see in the descending price list, occasionally there will be prices out of sequence, such as $100, $99, $32, $97.. obviously something is up with the $32.

but yea, there's really no quick way to get all of the clearance items at one store on the website, you have to do multiple searches like I just mentioned.

my searches are usually Dewalt, Hitachi, Bosch, Porter cable, skil, bostitch, kobalt, etc all of the major brands, then sometimes i'll search for stuff like "tile saw"

I tried searching this thread but did not find anything about these so forgive me if it's been covered. just picked up 3 sets of the pass through/extreme access or whatever they're called socket sets in 1/4 and 3/8 drive, (2 3/8 and 1 1/4) for 54 cents each. figured for $1.75 they'd be worth having for a travel box or something...they had the 3/8 ratchet and socket pass through set for $9.97 as well if you really wanted the ratchet...most of their normal socket sets were all marked down as well...last time I was there they had the crappy metric/sae combo wrenchs for 7 cents each, but I've tried using them and they ****...
