Worked here, thanks for posting. I can't open those SD links so I appreciate the blow-by-blow. I have a nice horizontal compressor but will need a stand-up in my new place. I've been watching this thread but not wanting the haggle -- Thank you Wiggum!

You're Welcome, Enjoy!

I bought one last week, loving it.

I tried to get one, unsuccessfully, but this may push me to try again. My horizontal one is an oil type with more HP and higher CFMs, but only a 20 gal tank. Vertical tank would be nice...decisions, decisions!!

The box I think is ~2 feet square and 49 inches tall
Weight listed on the compressor lable/sticker is 169lbs
VERY top heavy in the box so loading it into something by yourself would be very difficult unless you are a World's Strongest Man competitor!

I plan on strapping to a bumper tray to get it home.

This is such a ridiculous deal. I just tightened up the belt and went over my current one with a fine toothed comb trying to come up with an excuse to go buy it but I can't. Runs fine and with an oiled pump, 25 gal and 150 psi it's close enough to the Lowes one that I don't need to upgrade. My next one is going to be a 15 cfm'er so no need to waste money on this, but damn it's so hard to NOT buy it!!

I struggled with the vertical vs. horizontal when I bought mine, I settled on the horizontal and am glad I did as I have already taken it around back to work on some stuff. I like the portability of the horizontal units, the vertical units, like this one, are incredibly hard to move about (I've tried in the Lowes store). Great to sit in your garage though.

Me and another average guy had no problems lifting in to an F250 once the box was off...but really wacky weight distribution...nearly fell over on way home.

I have a m/c lift I used to get it out of truck.

My local lowes has them for $450 or so..lol

For those saying the newer ones aren't that great, from looking at the newer ones and looking at the model number it's a campbell hausfeld compressor. The newer one looks exactly how my husky one looks. I love my husky one... There is nothing cheap about it to me. But oh well.

Hella good deal on the older kobalt ones.

I also ran mine from day one on synthetic oil... no issues at all so far and it's been 5 months... I've done the same with all my cars, straight synthetic oil and never had issues.

Here's how wacky the weight distribution is: I put mine on its side last night, preparing to install a nicer drain valve rig into its bottom. I put a little stack of 2x'4s under the air tank, as close as possible to the pump & motor end. The tires still wanted to lift off the ground. And then it wanted to roll sideways fall off the 2x4 block stack.

Hmm... maybe I could fill it with water...

I love the space efficiency of the vertical tank. I don't mind wheeling it around too much, but then again, I'm a burly he man.

Lowes Clearance - get the 75% wherever you are in US - Instructions!
First, credit to others for finding the deals.

http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...&t=3336930

http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...?t=3336808

have some great deals in them.

However, if your in florida or california or other southern states you dont get these prices.

Here is how you can buy at the biggest discount even if your area has a higher price, I dont believe anyone has posted this before.

1. You will need 2 different browsers to make this work (I used iMac and iPad)

2. Go to lowes.com and make an account if you dont already have one.

3. Click whatever product link for what you want to buy.

4. Change your shop at this store location to an area that has the lowest price and that still shows at least one in stock. Use zip code 19131.

5. Add the item to card after selecting pickup at that store.

6. Go to your cart, sign in your account or enter in your info.

7. Go to CHECKOUT

8. Before you enter in your credit card info, click change store.

9. Now, open up your 2nd browser and go to back to Lowes.com, sign in your account. DO NOT open your cart, it will change the price back. Click the checkout button, put in your payment, and submit your order. Make sure you show the right store when you signed in the 2nd browser, if not, change it to the store you want to pick up from before you click checkout.

10. Get confirmation email and go pick up your items!

Hope this helps you.

Other southern states like GA? Wish I had given this a try before I found a used 60gal on CL. Same price though.

Well, there is a new compressor sitting in the garage and it cost a grand total of $175.73 including a 10% coupon that I had. :bounce:

Many thanks to the op and Wiggum! Having been shot down just last evening I was nervous about picking it up but everything went perfectly smoothly. They also didn't blink an eye when they saw my car (which required the box to go in horizontally). Everything is set up and ready to go but I figure I'll wait 24hrs or so before starting it just in case.

For those in CT, Cromwell should still have a couple (one display) and Bloomfield has at least a display.

LMAO Lowe's hates you guys.

Now I don't feel dirty anymore for getting this deal by merely having them price-match a store that is 500 miles away.

Just got home with mine. I have two stores each three miles away. One store was full price,$426.00,the other had one floor model on clearance for $288.00,but they price matched the $183.60. This place *****! I was saving that money for a compres Never mind. lol. Anyone want my old tank and pump? Pick up or possable delivery/meet up. I work in Newark and get to Bayville most weekends.. I think its a 30gal CH tank and the pump is an old craftsman.

I'm in Jersey and wouldn't mind a spare tank to hook into the system for when I use my sand blaster.

I just came home with mine... $194 with tax, great deal!

So I did the trick with changing locations, went to my Detroit area store to pick it up, lady tells me it's not in their system, calls some place they call, sits on hold for like 20 mins, they tell her to call another number, she calls, sits on hold about 20 mins, they tell her to call the first number, she does and sits for like another 20 mins then they tell her it's ready for pick up in Philly, she tells them that customer has conformation for pick up in Madison Heights MI.

After about another 10 mins, headquarters tells her they will cancel the original order and to sell it to us from this store for the price we were given in Philly.

By this time my fiance is pissed at me because I told her it was kinda a scam on the way to the store. Almost 2 hours later we're home with it. I'm happy as hell pulling it out of her car until she sees all the oil that leaked on her backseat. Now I owe her a shampoo in her interior and dinner!

Still well worth it. I get yelled at all the time anyway but rarely get something cool out of it ;)

I picked up a four 90 degree street "L"s and installed the intake filter/ mufflers on them as a previous poster did and it got even quieter! Well worth the 6 bucks for the "L"s.

Where are people picking up the 9 degree 1/2" elbows for the air compressor inlets? I am trying to find them and I can't locate them anywhere... I would like steel.. not brass.

Thanks,

If you have the time and desire, I have a suggestion-

Remove the L's and record the amount of run time from completely empty to full.

Reinstall the L's and repeat the timing process and let us know the difference.

I know I'd be interested in seeing the difference. A decibel measurement would be good too, but I wouldn't expect you to go to radio shack to buy a meter just for this.

Thanks!

i cant seem to find a Lowes that has one in stock for sub 200

Go to the compressor on the lowes website and use the store locator on the lowes website. Everytime you change a store it will go directly to the compressor webpage ad have the current price at that store. Lots of Stores in Penn and MD, and Northeast states had them on clearance some where different prices$183, $187, $300, ect. Reading PA and that area suburbs around philly,PA (use the lowes map on store locator) Some place in Ca, washington state, and MD and sorrounding area had them at $180ish.Also go to the lowes website with compressor and click the link that says something like in the upper right area of the screen; "Pick up at lowes store," or "pick up at another lowes location" it will give a;list of stores with what stores have them in stock. Once you click those links it will tell you the current price at that store.

Been trying to use the map to find a sub 200 and not having much luck, anyone found one that can share store number or city. Just to be able to add to cart.

Yea, looks like they closed the other way as well.

Me too...

Is the deal gone? I took an old print out and brought it to the Lowes I WORK AT, and my boss said he'd do it, if it was still in stock @ that price at philly.

and so did another lowes. Is the price still showing anywhere else where I can change the pick up location? please advice!
