My store still had the 5 piece insulated set for $24.99. I've resisted up until this point...but I can't at this price. After all I don't want to lose money on the deal :)

Spoke too soon...got the dreaded out of stock call even though the inventory system says they have 5.

Yea, that is it. Here is the thing to remember about ebay and the used market in general. People can ask whatever they want, doesn't mean it is going to sell. ;)

A few years ago when I bought mine you could get them for <$25 shipped for an entire kit. Now the average is <$65. Do an ebay search, you will find lots of different options and prices. They are military surplus meters. Thus you have to realize the people selling them more than likely got them super cheap at a government auction.

True that, $50.00 is not too bad today though. $25.00 would be more fun.

Picked up a pair of Channellock Crimpers for $6.87 and a pair of Channellock 369 CRFT Linesman pliers for $9.60 today.

They were out of the channellock cable cutters for $6 and the only knipex in sight was the pistol grip wire strippers

Could you help me to buy it ?

If you do an online order with a credit card, I can stop by and pick it up next time I am there, should be in a few more days. Make sure you tell them a thrid party will pick up. You can paypal me whatever shipping works out to be. Message me if interested. Not sure how many they have in stock though.

Private message me if you want to work out the details.

Anything left Knipex wise has been taken to the CS department and put in the cages, most likely.

at the 2 local one's I went to the slim stock they had where still in the boxes way up top in the electrical isle so they had to get the lift out to get them.

For some reason, if the item is NOT available Lowes posts the normal retail price, vice posting out of stock. After I bought the last 5-piece Knipex set the online price went from $39.99 to $99.99.

My Store had the Kobalt branded 3 piece locking pliers (Vise Grips) on clearance for $5. Came with a 10 curved, 7 curved, and 7 needle nose locking pliers. COO is china, but they actually have very little slop in them (slop is about the same as my USA Vise grips, so it is pretty good). They also have grips on them. Picked up two sets for $10+tax. Not bad for those who need cheap vise grips.

Clearance prices are store-specific. Many clearance prices will be district-wide or nation-wide, but many others vary significantly from one store to another.

Once a store is out, the purchase option is via Lowes.com, so the price is completely different.

I bought a set of them couple weeks back. Very unhappy with them. waiting for the handles to crack off so I can throw them thru lowes window.

Couldnt agree more. Im going to see if I can return mine. Even if they give me store credit ill be happy.

They let me do that. I bought Channellock and Knipex after. The tounge and groove would twist the cutters sucked. They were as bad or worse than HF. Lesson learned on buying cheap tools. Never again. Channellock are not that much more money

Kobalt pliers are among the worst of the brand. They are terrible, do not buy them at any price.

It seems that the kobalt Taiwan stuff is good and dare I say respectable. But the China made stuff is of very low quality. I wonder why? How much could they save by going from Taiwan to China. :dunno:

Well, I cleaned my local store of their discontinued wires and they had weather proof terminals on clearance too!

Good timing too as I got some lights to wire up on the bronco and the trailer to work on.

You aren't kidding. After work today I went to a store in the Cleveland area and bought a pair of lineman's for $4.40 and a pair of 6" needlenose pliers for $3.00. I went to a different Lowe's on my way home and bought two more pair of lineman's for $27 each. I told a buddy at work about it, and he went to the one near his house where the lineman's were full price.

I'm hoping to talk store #1 into refunding me for store #2's pliers so I can rebuy them. Store #2 wouldn't honor the price on the receipt from store #1 less than 30 minutes later. Anyone try that?

If you show them the receipt were you purchased it at another lowes, they are supposed to honor that price.

If they refuse, ask for the MOD

If the MOD refuses, ask for the 1-800 complaint line

Most managers will cave because they don't want a call to corporate, because it comes right back to them and they don't like they black mark
