Ratchet lube is a personal choice. The only thing I can offer is fine tooth= thin lube and coarse tooth (36 and under)= thicker lube.

Permatex Red Loctite 271.
Three drops on the paw and let it sit overnight.
It will be a smooth as silk the next morning....

When I decided to lube my Craftsman ratchets, I found a pdf online of the instructions for a rebuild kit, said to use SAE 30 weight oil, but I used 50 weight, worked good but some of the oil seeped out, though I put in way more than the four drops the instructions called for.

lithium grease is petroleum grease....
lithium is the soap, which is a thickener, oil is the lubricant in a lithium grease.
there are many soaps used in greases, calcium, lithium, sodium, etc...
as for a ratchet, lithium soap grease is not a good choice really for any ratchet style.
some of the best choices for ratchets are superlube for coarser mechanism, permatex assembly lube for coarse and fine mechanisms, and heavy oils like 50wt or similar for fine mechanisms.
some people claim to use silicone brake greases, but i advise against it. they are not proper lubricants for mechanisms like ratchets or loaded gears in general. totally different style of lubrication for very different types of material contact.

Over these many years I have used everything but I always keep coming back to the same product from HF called super lube $4.99 per tube.
By mistake I used one of the white soap/grease products years ago and that soap just turned to cement but the super lube has never failed day in and day out.
The red lube of love runs forever good stuff but very messy.

Super Lube used to be available at Canadian Tire, but it does not seem to be carried any longer. Need another road trip to the US, I guess 
I have been using motor oil, air tool oil and bike chain oil.
I may regret any or all of those when it gets cold here next winter!

I've seen it at Ace and True Value hardware stores as well. Not all TV's carry the same stock, try looking at a few.
Edit - I just noticed the the OP is in QP, Canada, I haven't been to St. George in a while (no passport), I'm no longer familiar with the stores in the area. Try the NAPA, or hardware stores in Jackman, ME if you head south.

How much grease should you put in? I pretty much packed my craftsmans with as much as I could. One had lithium grease, the other had moly. The one with the lithuim is louder but feels firmer with the clicks. The moly sounds sloppy, and squishy.

I try to keep it light, so as to not create drag. YMMV.

You really need to get it packed as full as possible .
I recommend you also use a wheel bearing grease packer to ensure you get it full.

almost any bike shop can order it. it is marked up a little bit though. it is branded by finish line
