CDI/SO recommends Super Lube for the internals of their clicker torque wrenches. For that reason alone I now use it anywhere a thin grease is called for.

Stay away from white lithium--in time it turns to stiff brown varnish.

I use Superlube for my ratchets. Its pretty cheap(Harbor Freight/better hardware stores) and I have used it on everything from squeaking crisper drawer slides to ratchets. It really is good stuff and it cuts down on the number of chemicals I have bought over the years.

Ratchets don't really require much lubrication just very little thin film for friction.... You can use almost everything you have they are all petroleum based.. Superlube is a grease aind Snap-On and almost every manufacturer tells you to use thin oil and not use grease go figure... Supelube is just another lubricant that you can find hundreds of uses for it where lubrication is needed for friction... Oh and don't mind the rude answers if they donii't like it they can skip the thread... Ignoring rudeness best way to go.. And welcome to Thee Garage Journal...

If you are a mild DIY or a weekend warrior grease/oil is a no no. My suggestion is to use molybdenum disulfide powder. You could also use graphite powder. The reason being it will gum up over time so unless you clean your ratchets 2-3x a year grease or oil is a bad idea.

Molybdenum Disulfide is what makes most grease good. It penetrates into pores in the metal and actually stays pretty well. So the more use of the ratchet the better off you are.

I as a tech use Silikroil and Lubriplate but, I find the Lubriplate will dry up and has to be cleaned out. Silikroil helps the most.
