Lug nut sockets

My regular Snap On impacts do fine on my Jeep wheels, but I have an interference problem on my neighbor's Nissan. I see HF has two different types, white coated and red coated, and then are various brands of thin wall. The Chicago Pnuematic (not associated with HF) seem to be the best reviewed. I see Snap On Blue Point also has a set that includes flip over sockets for damaged lug nuts. I am tempted to buy some thin wall impacts, what do you all think?

My favorite set is my Matco set. They are actually thin and the whole socket is. Not just the bottom. That being said I crack them once a year but I use them daily

I have some thin wall HF flip sockets that work decent. When I need thinner I use a 3/8s drive chrome socket with an adapter to half inch drive.

I haven't used the Sunex stuff much but it works fine.

I'd buy Sunex over HF. Since they're more for personal work vs everyday work, I wouldn't buy truck brand.

I've got the red HF set they are nice and have held up very well. The red part is removable which makes em a little thinner. I have flip sockets but it nice to just grab a set when you don't know...

I've run into some tight lug nuts over the years and found that lug nuts that are long & chrome like to have a deep broached socket. The end of the nut isn't solid like the base. I do think the deep broached ones crack easier though.

The Tekton "thin wall" flip sockets aren't thin. I can tell you that much lol. They look just like the sunex set

The Sunex thin wall have worked well for me for 10 years or so, but only get annual use swapping the winter tires back and forth on three or four vehicles.

I use a Matco thin wall impact socket every day at work, now listen to me when I say get one that is easily warrantied, forget price and just get the one you can get warrantied easy, the Matco socket is awesome but the thin wall is weak as it will be with any of these types of sockets. My Matco socket lasts for a few months until i run into a wheel some jerk ran the lugs in with their Impact full force. Brand doesn't matter the warranty will.

The Chicago Pneumatic are great, and they are one of the few sets that come with a lifetime warranty for when you crack one. I've had mine for over a year with no failures, but I know that 19MM will crack one day...

I have the sunex thinwall flip set, highly recommended. I am needing to find a deep broach 17mm thin wall however for muteki SR48 open end lug nuts.
