M18 12.0 Battery

Well, it arrived, but I haven't opened the box. I'm thinking about shooting a YouTube video of it in case it ends up as a fake.

Here's why I think it's fake - although the seller does have 100% feedback, he has sold 366 items and has only been on eBay since July 2023. The battery ships from California, but he's listed as being in China. The only things that he has listed for sale are these batteries and some similar Dewalt batteries.

The batteries are shown in original packaging; will be interesting to see if that's how they show up.

That US seller located in china is all over ebay. You would think they would squash advertising like that. If you see US seller in the picture or the American flag its most likely a seller from China. Yeah, I screwed up. I saw that the battery was shipped from the US, saw 100% feedback with 100+ transactions, so I figured I was good. After the fact I noticed that he was from China.

I have messaged him several times, telling him that if it's fake I will return it and leave negative feedback. He always replies but he has never stated that it was legit/not fake.

Milwaukee hasn't made that battery for at least three years which is how long the warrantee is suppose to be. This is the correct Milwaukee packaging as shown but this is very old stock. You'll be getting a battery that is already on it's last legs. You can check the date of manufacture on the bottom of the battery.

Here is where the battery's date of manufacture will be found: It's on the right side of center. This was made in December 2020. It amazes me that people come on this forum for good advice. They then receive this advise (BUY THE FORGE) and then completely ignore it. Why do I bother to answer these questions, but, why are they even asked is perhaps a better question as the poster is going to do whatever he feels like anyway.

You think I actually got a legit battery? From some dude in China who ships stuff from California?

If it's legit, but somewhat old, I may end up keeping it. My last two Milwaukee batteries are an HD 9.0 and an XC 5.0, both manufactured in 2018, so they're coming up on 6 years old. Both work great.

They may continue to work but they will not have the runtime of fresh batteries. I have some XC 4.0's from 2014 that I just gave to a friend. They work fine but last half as long under load as they use to. He's a homeowner that doesn't push the batteries and since I gave him four of them he can continuously rotate out batteries using his rapid charger so it's no big deal to him. By the time the third one goes dead the first one will have recharged and so on.

My stuff gets used around the house and in the garage, too. I just need more than two good batteries; don't have any margin for error.

It's a damn fake. I didn't even have to remove the packaging; I can see on the bottom that it has regular Phillips fasteners on the battery in the middle and regular Torx on the outside - not the security Torx.
