I am sorry if I have upset any MAC fans on this thread.

I have decided to simply replace it. I bought this SO instead and there was not much difference in price to be honest. Maybe I just prefer SO to MAC but for the price I really think MAC had better start to pulll thier socks up a bit.

I spend about £7500 a year on tools personally for my own use, not the company. The company can run to approx £75,000 to £100,000 a year.

I for one will not be buying anything else from MAC until I have spoken in detail to the MAC man about the COO. I have also decided to do this on behalf of my firm as I sign/Issue the Purchase Orders.

He lost all his cred when he made the "feels brittle" comment. You can't feel the "brittleness" of a piece of steel or a tool by playing with it. Brittle is a term that denotes lack of ductility and ductility is what keeps a socket or wrench from shattering when you get on it. I think the OP just doesn't like Chinese tools and for the record, as it was already posted, there's a world of difference in the manufacturing capabilities of Taiwan and mainland China. And don't sell China short. While the general consensus is that they will short cut and lowball everything the manufacture in that country, the real truth is that they will build whatever they're paid to build and some excellent values in tools and other products come from China.
I wish it was a simple as USA=good, anything else=bad, but it's just not true. Don't forget that before we offshored so much stuff the cheap **** came from 'merica too.

I can. Rockwell Hardness Scale. I work for a NDT and Pressure Testing Specialist (Funnily Enough the Biggest in the World, and a USA owned company) and have access to RH testers. I am MORE than willing to show all you guys my findings which I think you would be surprised by. I ruined 2 sockets but the SO ones were far tougher.
