The Mac guns been a trooper for me. I like the forward handle for the balance. Demo each if you can to see which fits better.

Like other have said see if you hold me before you buy it. I've had snap on mg725 and ingersoll rand. Both did the job for me. Never had a Mac though

IR holds the crown for power but all the top tier impacts are still within 10% (or less) of eachother. MG725 is a brick. Its a good impact but the balance is atrocious. Its already very front heavy right out of the box let alone with extensions and sockets. IR is a little better, AWPs are great. If you're going to be hammering things on all day give it some serious consideration. I use my MG325 all the time but for 1/2" im not a big fan. All the same there are still tons of them out there and many happy owners.

Reliability wise MG725 probably wont go decades like the other two due to the "oil bath" design. The other two are more conventional and need to be greased occasionally. Its a proven design and works. AWP050 has been out 3(?) years now and haven't read any complaints and 2135s have been out for many years.

MG725 and IR2135 and 2235 are mostly made in the USA. AWP series are made in Taiwan. All are extremely good quality out of the box.

MG725 does sound coolest though. Without the muffler it will blow your eardrums out.

Im selling my MG725 that is in great condition if you're interested. /shameless plug

I absolutely love the Ingersoll Ti guns. They'll go around 3 years of professional use in many cases of properly oiled and greased up front (most guys never grease the front end) from what I've seen.

I just hate the balance and height of the MG725. Yes, as everyone always mentions, it's nose heavy. But more than that, look at the design of the gun. The motor and the upper housing are almost an inch higher because the top of the grip is lower relative to it - the design adds some height between grip and upper, giving all that weight up top more leverage on your wrist.

I like the Mac AWP050/Proto J150WP personally.

Might want to check out the Proto J150WP. It's the same exact gun as the Mac (minus the shroud around the trigger) and can be had for under $300. I've been using it since it came out a couple of years ago and it's a great gun. The internals are all interchangeable with the Mac and while the Mac guy probably won't service it, you can get parts/service at any Dewalt Service Center.

If the OP isn't opposed to Ebay the AWP050 has become quite common in the $200-$250 price range in basically new condition. You can get cosmetically beat up ones for even less.

They're all big impacts with big power. You wont be squeezing any of them behind a fender on a recent model vehicle or anything. Cant say the size difference ever really mattered in my usages.

The old Ti guns work until the trigger or levers fall out. The Timax series fixed the levers and should be kicking a lot longer than 3 years. Mine (a QTIMAX because I like being able to hear) was 8 fairly hard years when I moved it a long, still working perfectly too.

3 YEARS?!?!?!?!?!?!?

My IR titanium just died two weeks ago on me after 10 years of use, not weekend warrior stuff but everyday use at work. And when I say it died, I mean that it doesnt stop no matter if your on the trigger or off the trigger.

I wouldn't buy a gun based on your driver. They typically don't repair thems anyways and still have to send them off. Might as well get the gun you want if it has to be sent out for repairs.

Enjoy your new impact.

yeah 100% agree they all get sent off however a decent driver that knows his way round the product is more likely to just listen to what you are saying and sometimes a clean out and a decent look round whilst on the truck can save you $ in not having to have it sent off and "rebuilt" when it doesnt need it.

my snap on man is the dogs danglies, i thought i was having problems with my mg325 took it on the van and 20 mins later after being shown how to clean the vanes and not over oil it, the thing is a trooper and he saved me £98 ($148) so at christmas he is getting a rather large bottle of whiskey :)

back on track i went for the ir 2235timax over the mg725 glad i have, no experience with the proto or mac ones

:+1: IR if buying new.
