This sounds like a damn good price to me but I'm not sure. If anyone knows what this box sells for new, I would like to know. He is asking $400.

(BTW, A hell of a lot more than $400.00 in fact so much more you really needn't bother checking cause the deal will be gone by the time you find out what you missed out on!)

Another example of posting when you should be paying and loading, then showing up here to gloat over the deal! :lol_hitti

Ehh, I'm at school right now. The soonest I could be there would be tomorrow afternoon which will probably be too late. I have class until 7 and a lab I will be working on all night...

Heck, if you trust the seller, call in a favor and get someone to go down there and give the guy a deposit or something. Do it!!

This is one of those deals where you see if a trusted freind, parent, sibling could beat cheeks there on your behalf and see if it is still there and as depicted and if it is slap down a retainer say $50.00 till you can get there later to finish the deal!

I'll see if my dad will go for it. What series box is it? I didn't see one like it on Mac's site and the box looks new so I don't think the model is that old.

This may be one of those auto tech school program boxes with friction slides instead of ball bearings. If owner did not disclose the model numbers, you need to inquire. I have seen several of this type boxes for sell like that.

My experience with Craigslist is that you have to be ready to move as soon as you see the advertisement. I usually try to get a telephone number, and commit to the purchase over the phone, and then go to pick it up immediately. Only once was the item not as pictured, but I bought it anyway after he knocked off a few dollars. He was asking $40 for an old Snap-On roll box, and took $25 when I pointed out that the weld at the top edge was broke. It doesn't hurt the box, and it worked out to be a good deal. I think the box dates back to the early 1960's. Ball bearing slides are nice, however, I must say that I have never had any problems with the friction slides. I keep them clean and use white lithium grease on them. I rather have my money ******* in tools rather than a box that just holds them. If I found a great deal on one of the larger roll boxes with ball bearing slides, I would have to sell off all my smaller boxes just to make room in the garage for it.

I saw both of those ads but the Mac chest seemed like the most storage for my money. Its ok that I missed out on it as I am trying to save for a DSLR anyway.

What are you getting? My wife's bored with her old D70 and is looking at the new D300. Those things go obsolete as fast as computers...

I am looking at a D80. It should be replaced with a new model soon and I am hoping for a price drop at that time. Looking to sell the D70? That D300 is very nice from what I've heard.

I did not buy it. By the time I contacted my dad about getting it for me it was gone. Its OK though as I didn't have the money for it anyway and I don't like going into debt.
