Does anybody have experience machining Hastelloy C-22? I have to make the part in the attached drawing. Machining the outside shape isn't a problem, but parting it at the .040" is proving tricky. I have tried using a slitting saw, but it wore it out pretty quick. The saw was HSS, which I am sure isn't the best material to use, but it was all I had. Anybody have any ideas on how to make this cut? I have looked into wire EDM but the cost was pretty high.

My shop usually grinds slits like that in titanium and hastalloy. Ceramic tooling is also good for turning hast.

How do you mean grind the slits? Do you use a mill with a special type of grinding wheel or something completely different? Please excuse my ignorance.

I do this all the time with a fiber cut off disc on a surface grinder. Simple to do.
