Anyone tried one of these? The figures are as good or better than the 2135/MG725 but it looks incredibly compact and the directional switch and power selection is next to the trigger. I must say i'm intrigued.

Cheesy promotional vid but you can see how tiny it is

Mac guy brought one in 2 months ago or so and it looked and felt nice. I would really consider picking one up if my Mac dealer was a better person.

the vid is actually kinda funny... even though i don't like those 'battle' tests. looks like they took the center mounted handle design from the cornwell air hammers.

I believe its rated at about 800 ft-lbs. Although at a free speed of 7400RPM its a lot slower than the 9800 IR and SO produces. As far as I know there is no anvil brake on this one like the SO. The mac dealer kept talking about how balanced it is though, he said it can stand upright if you remove the air fitting.

I don't like that directional switch though, IMO it should be on the back of the tool. Hopefully this one won't fall apart like the aircat rebrands.

Catalog says 1260ft-lbs break away. I'm skepticle of the switch placement as well. The indexes would need to be pretty robust so it doesnt slip to a different mode and i was wondering if it gets in the way of the trigger finger at all.

The graphic in the video says "Drill of Choice" I've never heard anyone knowledgeable in the business of design and manufacturing impacts refer to an impact as a drill.

All the new inpacts seem to talk about how much power they have but it seems to be at the cost of long life unlike like the older over-built stuff but it is a sign of the times, high torque numbers sell impacts not long life with a little less power.

I think the long life is going away at the expense of ergonomics and weight rather than power. Ceramics and plastics probably arent the best choice as a construction material for longevity in an impact.

Weight and ergonomics comes first for me when it comes to impacts. It is one of those tools I use all day long. Max power can take a back seat. I could care less if impact A has an extra 100 ft/lb of tq over impact B. Chances are if gun B doesn't move a bolt, gun A won't either. This is talking pro level top tier guns. Back on topic. I don't like the position of the F-R switch as some have mentioned. It's also a tad on the heavy side. I'd really like to see and try one in person.

John Force just convinced me I don't need one. Something about an amped up salesman yelling in my face...

we got a hold of a prototype some time ago. It busted lugs off a Snap-on truck we were working on that had been on forever. I was impressed, and I hate truck branded air tools... so consider me jaded.

Interesting. Anyone hear something related to the price? Curious as who makes this for replacement parts after the warranty...

Mg725 will stand on handle with air fitting removed, also compared side by side with my SO and its approx 1/2 inch shorter, and for some reason they put a slightly extended anvil on, otherwise it would be a full inch shorter. The shift controls feel poor, my mac dealer pointed that out....

The handles on most tools are angled so balancing a tool on the bottom of the handle is just a gimmick that really doesn't mean much What is important is the distance between the c.g. of the tool centerline of the handle.

Also, most people don't think about the socket hanging off the front of the gun either. If you have a big socket with a long extension or torque stick the balance is all messed up anyway.

True. Plus the hose hanging off the handle.

My 1st impact, was a blue-point, I sold to a co-worker. To get something a little lighter and not as loud. The one thing I miss about that gun is that it had the direction selector where a safety would be on a handgun and not the back of the impact.

I was also skeptical when my mac dealer brought one by. Ive been in the market to replace my 8 year old IR Ti. I work at an International truck shop and need something with power so i dont have to use the shops 3/4 gun. It broke lose all the big *** bolts i could find. U-bolts, lug nuts everything. I ended up trading my IR in for a benjamin and got the gun for 350. At first i was impressed with the power and quietness of the tool. after using it for about two months im sold on the weight and ergonomics. Having the handle at the front of the tool allows it to be balanced in your hand and not fatigue your wrist. Also the directional switch is in a great place, its never been in the way and its easy to move with gloves on. I do wish it was cheaper but you gotta pay to play in this business.

cliff notes.... freakin awesome!

Coworker traded his mg725 to pick one of these up around mid December, its only stalled once but that really doesnt mean anything. He continuely steals my 2135 because he absolutely hates where the direction and torque switches are. Im eager to see if it holds up to daily abuse better than their aircat counterparts.

I got one a few months ago and really like it so far. the only complaint i have is that to change the power level you have to poke at the selector with your fingernail. Other than that Im really impressed with the gun.

I see mechanics smashing there fingers because of the foward handle. Also the vibration over your hand will not feel good either. Kinda looks like a Star-Trek Phazer. LOL.

I like my IR thunder gun but I do not wrench for a living and I could see the need for a nice light weight impact if that was my full time profession.

I have the impact lettered F on the pic the OP posted, i have used a matco as well before, but i really like Macs impact guns.

I have never had an issue with mine, i used the low noise version and it was really nice but i didnt give up my impact for it.

3 guys at work have bought this gun and love it. Truck repair so it gets to see the nasty stuff that means lots of heat and then the impact to get loose. When My mac impact, rebranded air cat, dies this might be the next one

I have the Mac Nitrokitty and LOVE it. It has more power than I need in a tire/frontend shop most days, but if I can get on in a truck or ag type shop, I will love the power I am sure.
