This has made such a difference with heating its a shame I hadint done it sooner. The stove ran all day on low using only about a bag or less of pellets. The temp was at 53 when I went out the next morning. That is plenty warm for a garage area. None of the other walls are insulated completely yet lol. Looking forward to some time off to work in the garage now!

I’ve been running my 18000 btu minisplit on 64 and it barely comes on. It’s so nice to have good insulation....This time of year up north like ME anyway for sure.

Looks great and I am sure it will be nice to have a warm place to work on things. Much over 55 and I start to get too hot when working.

I can’t argue with that, really nice when you are really cold and can crank the heat up for a while to take the chill off.

I like working in a tee shirt, 60s is where I want it. Good insulation in Maine is the key

I am guessing the stove wont have to run much to keep it warm out there. The stove will heat a 3000 sq ft house so the 750' that I am heating should be a cakewalk.

managed to get some work done today! finished installing some insulation in the divider wall that I have been putting off due to having to pull the OSB off the wall. fixed that all up an put some insulation up in the corner and closed it up.

I also had to take down the OSB from the divider wall to fix some mistakes I made when I put lined up the OSB on the studs. As it turns out you want your osb to be hitting studs when installing it. This took some time working by myself as they were shoulder hight.

I also got around to insulating and closing up the second half of my two part door. What a pain it was to get the OSB on there with no way to latch it! I ended up screwing the door to the frame to hold it and then kicked my way through once I had the OSB on there.

The divider wall is almost complete I just have to seal up over the door to be done. I still need a couple of 2x4 to complete the header then I can install the OSB.

Overall it is starting to feel a bit like a shop space! I should have some time this weekend to do a bit more. I want to get the Mustang to its final home along the wall I am finishing now and then I can put the shelves beside that. This will give me enough room to have a nice work space and access to the other walls to insulate.

Happy New Year!

Got a whole day of work done in the garage the other day. It has been un seasonably warm here and I am taking advantage! The divider wall is all insulated and closed up minus one little piece of osb. Which means I now can place the car where it will rest until I get this done. I also finished insulating another exterior wall and half of another. I mounted a shelf I have had sitting around the garage for years. It is now the home of my youtube university :bounce:

Getting closer!

Got a bit more done the last few days. I am to the point all I have left to get closed up is the back wall. We have some Sub zero weather coming in soon so I am hoping in the next week to have it done. I guess it will come down to how fast I can wire it up. I really want to put a couple of outside outlets on the back of the garage as I want to build a roof out back to put a "big boy" tractor under. It's coming along kicking and screaming 😂! Moving all of this stuff around has me wanting to do a purge so that is happening this spring.

Looking good! FWIW, hand trucks and HF moving dollies were my friends while I was getting started on my shop. Got a half dozen or so dollies on coupons and moved a lot of stuff on those.

I picked this up at a garage sale a bunch of years back. It has been a life saver for tractor parts and pieces. I'm thinking of building all of my shelving in pallets and then I'm able to just move them at will. Lol Tetris for days!!!

Been down sick this set of day off so not much progress. I did get an outlet wired so I can't say none lol. The pallet jack has made life bearable at least.

Yesterday was a good day!

I spent the better part of the day out working in the garage. The wall is wired minus the outside outlets. I managed to get the insulation 90% done. Just need to cut the top pieces and get motivation to drag the ladder around. The pellet stove is now completely shutting down while maintaining whatever temp I want.

OSB is up on the bottom and started the second row!

I am hoping to have another day to throw at it this weekend and I should be able to finish up the wall! I might even move in my tool boxes since I wont have to move them around again!

Are there any con's to leave the ceiling like it is with just the strapping and plastic? I am not entirely excited about putting OSB up there at this stage lol.

Hi there, great work! I know it takes a long time to do all the insulation and finishing but it is going to be awesome! Did I miss the pictures of the exterior?

Well gents. We have decided to sell our home. This garage is going to belong to somebody else in 30 days. We are under contract for a new home with a tiny two car garage. Pray for me.

All that and now a move arg I could not stomach that thought. Good luck but it appears there's not that much stuff in your garage, granted we just saw work vs stuff. Might be hard pressed to put a car back in the garage again.

Is the move for a new job or? You never got to installing a minisplit did you?

Nope never made it that far!

Moving closer to work for better schools. I have almost filled a 30 yard dumpster with junk from the last 30 years lol.

On a side note I have the green light for a shop with a lift. So here we go again!

Well I guess it's time to close this thread. We have made the move happen and bought the new house. The new garage is packed full and unusable. I have had multiple quotes of $70k to build a 30x50 on the property we have now and that just was out of the question. I stumbled upon a property with a garage with an apartment and 12.5 acres of land for $80K and we close in about 30 Days. :rocker:

Thank you all for the advice and laughs!
