Thanks Alex,

I really like this folding bench.... Just be sure to acount for any slope of the floor when building it...

Yesterday my buddy and I used his lift to make it easier to install my mud flaps.... $700 these flaps cost, got them for $300 barely used after they didn't fit his exhaust...

I also scored this 37" tool chest for free, it just barely fits under my main work bench if I remove the wheels. Cleaning it up now... I pressure washed the chest while I was washing my truck, just needs a bit more elbow grease and it will look decent... Price was right, my first free thing in the garage besides scrap wood...

Congratulations Sean, I believe that qualifies for a "you ****" award. :)

Thanks! It is cleaning up really well... Maybe I should paint my ratty looking Record Vise to match the red cabinet?

I also took a picture of both of the fold down benches with Leanne's SUV in the garage. Although it is a bit tight at least she can still pull into her spot if have the tables in use when she gets home. If I am doing any work at all I move the SUV out as it would be too cramped to get much done...

Your opening up a can of worms there painting a Record vise RED:)

Well I guess its no different to my bare metal example of a Dawn vise.

Dawn like Record have been painted the same since their companies were started.

Regards

Very nice Dawn, it looks good naked lol:thumbup:

I never have been one to follow the pack.... I guess I have made up my mind..... Painting the Record vise red lol!

I removed the Number 6 Record from the work bench and wire wheeled it to prep for the Rustoleum "Safety Red" Enamel... Masked off any places that won't be painted, and went to town. One thin coat was done to test the adhesion which was very impressive so I went with 2 coats, 2 hours apart and I am happy with the results.... I will post a picture once it is fully done and mounted on the bench.

Leanne, looking slim and fit as she inspects my taping job on the Vice LOL!

She barely looks pregnant from the back:

But from the side it is clear that there is a big healthy Sean Junior in there:

Stay tuned for tomorrows update where: The freshly painted Vice will be firmly bolted down to the work bench. My prep and painting skills can be evaluated by all of you readers. I am working hard to do their best job I can within my busy life...

Yes I agree $700 is completely crazy, thats why I found a set new but second hand, save over 50%. The reason they cost more is because they have a setback to clear large tires.... I looked into different options but the lowest cost mudflaps that would work were $150 each and they were not as nice as these...

Today I went and made an offer for these used studded winter tires for my truck.... Took them for $300 and he paid $1200 last winter for them. 265/75R16 that are 31.5" tall vs the 33.5" tall summer tires on the truck now... Going to make an offer on some rims for these tires on Monday.

Score!

Then on my way home I saw this COOL old car!!! 73 or 74 Olds Cutlass 4 door! I love those cars!!! I need to get my 75 on the road next summer!!

This picture is my rendition of "Floating around in a Big Full Sized GM Boat"!

Then after stopping to snap a few pictures of the Cutlass I noticed this scrap metal beside a dumpster right there.... It is really sturdy, and I will make a wooden top for it... If you look closely you can see the table stand by the dumpsters in the background!

I hid it in the shed so Leanne does not get mad at me for hoarding~~~~!!!!!!:3gears: Delay the conversation a few days...:rocker:

I put this top together with a 3/8" plywood top laminated to scrap 1/2" OSB with 2x4 and 2x3 re-enforcement:

The feet are adjustable which is great and the top is removable with just 6 screws to the base.

That's a great job on the table, its nice to see stuff repurposed.

Take a leaf from my book and that is just selectively forget about telling Leanne, as I find its easier to ask for forgiveness than to justify why in the first place. Well it works some times.;)

Regards..

I bought Leanne a present for doing such a good job raising our future child:

Today I designed and built a 24"x24" cabinet:

I made this 1.5" spacer so that I could setup a "guide" for the skill saw.... Effectively taking skill out of the equation:

Not perfect but darn good:

Today I had the day off work so I loaded up my truck and drove to my little house which is a 45 minute drive into the country! I love it out there.... The first order of business was to stop at the tractor shop, owned by a great friend of mine!!! Had a coffee and then got to work using his tire machine to mount my new/used studded winter tires onto these rims that I got on my way this morning!:beer:I will install them when the roads are really bad...

These were $950 rims, and I got them for $300 used!

The next thing I did was install a new CV joint on my 450 Kodiak 4x4 ATV, then new alum skid plate package from front to rear... It cost a bit however is protects the machine from my abusive riding!:dunno:

This little shed is also home to various engines and transmissions... Chevy 350, 700R4 trans, th400, and a Olds 215 alum V8:

Went for a quick ride on it and then back to work on different projects...

Also today I installed the table, cabinet, and some sturdy shelving here at my shed at the little house:

BEFORE:

BEFORE:

BEFORE, note the re-chromed bumper for my Skylark (put the bumper up safe on a high shelf now):

BEFORE:

Step one, install cabinet:

Shelf going up:

The reason the 2x6 boards for the shelf top are loose is because my cordless drill ran out of juce and I did not have my spare battery....:lol_hitti I did about 20 screws by hand and then said "next time I am out here I will complete it with the drill"... Man oh man it makes me realize how reliant I am on the power tools!!!

Nice work man, wish I had some wood skills like that.

Honestly it just takes practice!!! 6 months ago i sucked at wood working! There is only one way to learn, just do it! What you don't see is that i have a bit more scrap wood then I should because I still make mistakes.... Wood is cheep, buy extra and go to town. I started with scrap wood from building sites, so if I screwed it up it was no big loss, just keep it for camp fires...

I get better and faster each project!

I like to get 8 hours of sleep, because I have so much stuff to do I need to be fully re-charged... I have a feeling I will get less sleep when the baby comes....:dunno:

No worries -- you should be back to getting a good night's sleep in about 18 mo... sorry, ...years.:fingersx: Just enjoy these years because they pass really really fast.

I am really excited, I have always wanted to be a father! I hope I do half as good of a job as my parents did.....

Today I made this little setup to make it easier to move my engines around... I need to buy some U bolts to secure the engine cradle to the platform. At 2" thick it is plenty sturdy... The casters were from my recent free toolbox and the wood was scrap... I used some nuts as washers so that the lag bolts would not stick through the top.

Here is a C- clamp that I made in shop class in high school... Any suggestions for cleaning up the threads on this? I made the whole thing from raw materials and made the casting, lathe work, welding, and brazing. I am going to spend some time with emery cloth to clean it up.

I have had no bites yet with selling my 91 GMC 2500 so I am going to fix it up to hopefully get it sold.... Ordered a windshield, I have some fender flares too add, touching up the bodywork a bit and some painting... I will start with a really good cleaning, then painting the rear bumper and underside of the truck gloss black.

If I can find the time I will install the body lift and suspension lift that I have here in the box for it... I did my other 91 2500 with the same 3" susp. and 2 inch body lift and it looked a lot better than stock.

For the C clamp, use a medium or fine wire wheel on a bench grinder to strip out the rust. It will make short work of it and get into all the threads. Unscrew it all the way and clean the end and as far down the threads as you can, then screw it 70% closed to get the other end. Nice shop project.:bounce:

The vice looks great. I had seen one recently on another forum that was stripped bare which I thought was sharp, but now I'm thinking I might paint mine too.

My father is from your neck of the woods and I have family that live in Sherwood Park.
