Well we got a cool log splitter! Gas powered with a HUGE hyd. ram... Had to haul it about 2 hours so I winched it in the back of the truck and took it home... The old tires did not look safe for 90 MPH LOL! :3gears:

AND got the back of the cube van sealed off... Custom cut 1/8 inch thick steel, just need to bolt it in properly with windshield adhesive to help seal it and it will be ready to add the headache rack. Got some steel to add more cross-members to the frame for the deck attachment, next week it will all come together finally.

The fence on one side of our yard was poorly built and did not stand up. The person who built it used 1 inch screws so all the boards came loose, then they added more 1 inch screws and the boards cracked up and warped. I had been trying to go around and re secure boards the past few years but today I said screw it... 3 hours from start to finish. 78 boards sone of them custom. I went with pressure treated as it was only 20 cents more, and they will fade in color in a year or so.

I setup the little table setup wuth the dowels that secure it. Works great. Here is how I cut the custom angled boards that were needed due to the posts not being straight.

LOL yes they grow QUICK! The 3 year old is small for his age but can carry a 1x6x6 on his own. The 1 year old is good at throwing stuff, here he is banging a hard ball against the window to get my attention LOL... The house is getting some wear and tear but we are loving every minute of it!

Well, some good updates for you guys!:rocker:

FINALLY we broke ground for the garage project. 28 feet deep by 20 feet wide. A modest little garage and we can build a big one later. Setup a bed in my shed LOL!

As normal I am finding awesome deals on building supplies. Some people had spare rebar after thier new driveway and just wanted it all gone along with a bunch of 2x6 and 2x4 forming wood. $125 got me 38 rebar 20 feet long!

Had to flip my deck over as I need to work on the bottom side to get it ready to put on the truck. Backhoe did that easy.

Then got the other trailer and got 70 Sheets of 3/4 inch tongue in groove OSB and 180 2x4s for $800. Rented a post hole digger and a compactor.

When I pulled up to buy the rebar I noticed their neighbour had a cool old Supercharged 6.0 2006 Chevy truck for sale so I bought that. This truck is FAST, fully built up engine, trans and rear end. 6.0 engine, billet 4 speed auto, 14 bolt 4.10 with locker! Crazy. Only 100 thousand KM whats that? 60 thousand miles?

A few more:

The fence is looking really good! Black posts really look amazing. He is using a smaller brush to get the details painted black after. We created a parking spot at the back alley for about 7 cars, very cool!

Hey Sean, I'm finally up to date again with your thread - are there any Chevy/GMC pick-ups still driving about in your area, or are they all in your yard? :lol_hitti

So many great deals.

Nice work at the both properties too.

I've gotta ask, did the drywall repair that you showed us have anything to do with putting the spare Buick engine in the basement? :D

Thanks Terrick!

Mark, yes the drywall repair was related to the engine going down the stairs.... No damage to the engine and Shane loved learning to do the drywall.

Good progress yesterday after work. Built the forms for the back and side of the concrete pour. Added more gravel, watered, compacted, more layers of gravel till the elevation was correct. Next is to finish the last side of the form, add a bit of gravel at the front, compact, and then rebar. Scheduled to pour the pad on Saturday.

Good heavens, that is my last check in on here, almost 2 years ago and looks like I missed another Shane Buick's birthday and just about to miss another one. Got a lot of catching up to do. I did note a reply from someone about an engine rolling down some stairs? :shocking: That should be interesting.
Look forward to catching up as I know you are a doer!!

Ric, it was a hole digging machine.

In good news the cement truck was able to drive on my wooden parking pad without breaking it!

The pad went perfect I did all the work from the removal of topsoil to the forming and rebar. Perfect slope just a bit away from the house and sloped towards the doors. I saved a ton doing most of it myself. I paid a finisher who has this awesome setup plus a ******** to ensure to was good. First about 20 crickets came around and hopped all over the fresh pad and then a CAT walked across it twice leaving the paw prints.... Not much I could do at that point. Then about 7 hours after the finish was done it started raining, no worries it was hard enough by then to be good to go!

Progress! :3gears:

I know two of the studs are not plumb, but once I get it all insulated and interior plywood put up you will not see that. I made a mistake measuring while I was building the wall on the floor. Then the 3.25 inch nails from the gun were to hard to get out so I moved on. I hate it and it bugs me but it will not matter in the end.... I am no professional, but I am doing the best I can with what I have. There is a little bit of low headroom on the right side however that is okay, it allows me to keep a good slope on the tin roof to let snow slide off... I am a bit short too so that helps lol! There will be a steel man door at the back where I have it framed up and also a man door into the cube.

Well, got the roof sheeting on last night. Adding the metal roofing tonight after work. I only get a few hours here and there it work on it so it is slow going. I put a nice slope on the roof to reduce snow accumulation. Next I need to frame in the 8 foot tall garage door opening on the taller side and the 6 foot opening on the low side. Then onto installing the man door into the storage cube and the man door to outside. Then the electrical, insulation, and interior sheeting. The garage doors will be done once I have a chance.

Thank you Herb! I obviously wanted to build a huge shop but that will come in due time... There is still lots of room to build on the property.

This garage is 28 feet deep and 20 feet wide. I am happy with how it is turning out! Having the 16 foot deep by 8 foot wide cube attached to the garage will be awesome! I am building 3 shelves 3 feet deep on one side of the cube then a workbench at the end. It is about a 6 inch step up into the cube and I found a super heavy steel door to add security between the garage and the cube.

The cat paw prints are awesome! I would just have to laugh every time I saw them.

We have a really cool outdoor cat that comes to visit us a lot. My favorite kind of cat since I don't have to take care of her, but she loves to come over and hang out. And if I poured a slab in my backyard, I'd have chicken prints all over it!

And nice boat!

Some progress today, roof is done but it was too dark to take pics of it. Then I roughed in the two man doors.

Another pic, as you can see the solid steel door protects the cube van roll up door from access. Later I will build all my shelving and workbench in the 16x8x8 Cube:
