Thanks for the updates on everything, Sean. Novel idea to get those slicks mounted. Should be interesting getting the bead over that center rib, or may be not, lol. Kaw looks stunning in red!

Sean, great idea raising the garage door!

BTW, did your truck's frame get tweaked a little in the accident?

Shawn

Hi Shawn, no the frame was good. It was a super light accident but the bumpers just don’t have any strength. The truck actually rides smoother with the 12,000 pound winch and roughly 250 pound bumper. I still need to swap the matching rear one on.

Nice to hear from you Ric, I hope all is well!

Sean: sounds like a good reason why you moved and are dealing with all that cold weather and snow.

happy to hear your truck is back on the road and maybe with a few personal improvements too.

stay warm!!

When I was a teenager, my family owned a red Dodge Dakota, I always wanted another one. I am working in the mountains right now and I noticed this little Dakota for sale for $400! It weighs in a 2970 pounds, I scaled it. My white truck is 8150 pounds.

I’m putting new tires on the Dakota, driving it home and returning with the 75 Regal. 3 hour drive. Once the snow melts I want to cruise the big Buick to and from the mountains!

Sean: if you want people to see you so they don't run into you like in the white one during the snowy winters I guess you picked a color that you can see from space. looks like a good truck though.

hope your spring hurries up and gets there so you can enjoy the outside of your new home, but good to see you are getting the garage organized while it's cold out.

cheers

Great job!
But it is unlikely that you did it if you did not have such a wonderful assistant. :)

Bolted down the lift.

Working on the 1989 Dakota, it’s almost done. Brakes, rear end swap and I think it’s sold pending the test drive. Junkyard rear end was super rusty so sandblast and paint, new seals and a possi unit.

Sold 5 engines today, only one 5.3 left which I’m keeping. Still 12 Buick 350s but those stay too. Sold 2 trans in the last two days, keeping the rest (2004R and turbo 350).

A better look at the landscaping rock!

Sold the enclosed trailer.

The garage door track was far too long. Shortened it and re mounted it. This made room for a tire rack.

The Regal is out of winter storage, was -20 today and it fired right up after a 5 month nap. 120 mph was easy! Runs great!

Before I scrap this rusty old block I decided to try CLR. 30% CLR 70% water. Will see what happens! It’s takes a few days, then flip it over and another few days.

So soon, Sean?!? I'd need winter tires if i wanted to take the Fairlane out now! What kind of great weather are you guys having? Could you "elbow" some of it over towards the East? No one has to know... :)

It’s been up and down all year this year. Everyone thought maybe one more mild hit.... then we got slammed with -25.

Sold a bunch of engines. Put two more Buick engines up out of the way.

Loving the sink beside the door to the garage. Still haven’t setup the sink in the garage yet.

So today was a big day, lots of challenges however it is paying off!

Having a house in the city, with limited lot sizes, property line setbacks, etc. all gave a serious challenge to make my dreams come true. In the end I feel this is the best situation I could possibly come up with. I am only 5 foot 7 inches tall.

With the lift in the fully raised position there is 52.5" (4.375 feet) of clearance above the lift and 77.5" (6.45 feet) of clearance under.

Both of my Buicks are 53" tall. My working height for these cars is such that I will have the lift set at 61.5" above clearance and 73.25” (6.1 feet) of clearance under. I would often want the car at a lower setting, and the locks are 3" apart.

Then onto the jacked up GMC 2500 (8300 pounds), which is well within the weight ratings of the lift and easily fits on the extra long ramps. So the truck is 85" tall (7.08 feet). How you may ask will this fit on the lift? Well, the truck have nearly 2 feet of clearance. If I put it 6 feet up on a lift I couldn't reach the under side. I realistically need the truck about 4 feet off the ground so I can reach the underside. So it worked out in my dry run testing today that gives me 85.5" clearance above, and 44" under. This seems low however given the 2 feet of clearance under the truck this puts it at a perfect height for me to work on the underside.

Hope you having fun while being on self isolation in there.

Thanks! Yes haven’t worked in a month and may be a few more months with no $. But on a good note each one of my vehicles is acting up and demanding my time and attention. The good news is that both of my boys are just begging to help at all times!

At least the majority of us here including you, Sean have our garages to enjoy during Isolation. Loving Amazon and UPS, just drop the package off at the door, ding the bell (if they even do that for max escape time) and screw off!

Yes it is nice to have so much family time and catching up on projects! Of course almost all of my vehicles decided to have issues of some sort!! Driving the 75 Regal has been a lot of fun! It isn't too fast but it sounds nice and muscle car like (no muffler) and it gets up and goes pretty darn good considering its been off the road since the 80s. Still waiting for the good 350 to be done for the turbo Skylark, but no rush. Lots of other things to do like landscaping, etc. to do once the snow finally melts.

Wow Sean tunes and a new lift:thumbup:
I see junior is helping as well, good for both of you.:)
I haven’t wrapped my head around the lift as yet. But have been thinking about it. Why did you pick the Atlas?

I picked the Atlas because a local company had it on sale for 20% off. I checked the reviews and found lots of good feedback. I liked the weight rating and then parr’s are nice and beefy. Some of the low end lifts are super flimsy and light weight. This one weighs 2700 pounds.
