Looking to pick this set up to replace my 10 year old black/white LXT 18V set. I’ve been reading reviews that the hammer drill included in this set (XPH12Z) can get stuck in hammer mode. Most of those reviews are from ~2017. Does anyone have this specific model and know if Makita has addressed this issue on the current production drills? $299 seem like a good deal with three 5.0ah batteries.

Thanks!

I got that drill in a very similar set around 2017. So far no trouble with it sticking in hammer mode.

I have the 6.5" brushless, blade-left saw in the Home Depot combo linked by the other poster and I really like it. For the extra $50 I think it's worth it even though you're only getting one 2.0 and one 4.0 battery.

I may pick up that set to leave at the cabin.

Wanting a new portable miter saw to replace my dying craftsman, I meandered over to my local Makita dealer... I figured since I hadn’t made an offering to the Lord of Teal in a while, I better head over and allow them to separate me from some cash. Picking we’re slim due to this damn Covid **** and they’re waiting on over 100k in orders to show up someday.. talked to one of the guys there and they had one 8” slider, but I wanted a 10” for a bit more capacity.. so he said “Do I have a deal for you..”. That usually means I’ll be reaching for my wallet. Very last one in stock, the 18V X2 LXT Cordless 10" Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw (XSL06PT).. comes with a dual charger and a pair of batteries.. but wait! On sale for $579, down from $750, and included 2 extra batteries. Well Hell.. the dual charger and 4 batteries is over $400...
I tried to resist... but it was futile..

So it sits waiting with my Dads old 2703 for a few jobs coming up this fall.

That's one thing I wish my miter saw had, the slides along the side of the blade. They take up a lot less room then the conventional out the back style.

I have to admit it was fun showing up my buddy who uses Dewalt exclusively. He was trying to cut a 4x4 and said it must be the blade. I told him his Dewalt is going to get their feelings hurt and ripped through 14 4x4 posts like it was an electric recip saw So awesome

I was wishing I had one of those this past weekend. I had to make 6 cuts through a 10"x10" hardwood timber with my DJR188 compact recip saw. It did the job, but man did it take a while. :wtf:

Did any of you guys pick up this makita circular saw kit(XSR01PT) from Home Depot, when they were on sale a few months back. The kit was on sale for $250 a few months back and now I'm kicking myself for not grabbing it back then because now it's $350.
I have the Makita circular saw model XSS02 already, but this thing is gutless...

Dorset. England.
I paid the equivalent of $250 for that saw as a bare tool a couple months ago, it was the going rate at the time (it fluctuates a bit but is roughly the same now) UK prices are quite high but frankly $350 with 2 batteries and a dual port charger is not expensive, $250 was a great deal.
I don't think its even available as a kit here, bare only.

I didn’t but I wish I had.

Yeah big bag of regret on that one.

The bare tool in the US right now is $200, which isn’t bad but I “usually” don’t upgrade until I come across a deal. Yeah $350 isn’t horrible for the kit, but it’s not very motivating either.
I’m not surprised the price is inflated in the UK, most items are over there. The UK is an interesting area all together I always enjoy my time over there.

On a whim I bought the Makita 18 V tire inflator. It's OK but...
Pro:
Compact size
Inflation rate is OK for topping up a tire.
Con:
Noisy. The pump appears to be mounted directly to the housing instead of on rubber bushings.
It reads 2 psi low in the 30-40 psi range.
No accuracy spec for the pressure gauge. Appears to be a bit worse than ±2 psi.
Gauge only reads in .5 psi increments, but what do you expect for $99.
Pressure display lags by a couple of seconds.

I'll take it apart sometime soon and report back. There has been conflicting info on whether of not it is brushless.

Took it apart. It is a brushed motor, contrary to some info out there.
Very easy to disassemble and service.
Looks to be good quality construction. Pump is mostly metal.
The pressure display is not very accurate. Best to check with an accurate gauge.
Tried to quiet it down, but the motor is already mounted in rubber and the housing seems to amplify the sound.

I’ve got like 6 or 7 of those older Makita drills that were all solid plastic, also a sawzall, I love them, even have some old flashlights & a belt buckle, use to have old jackets as well, from promoting stuff.

I finally bought a new Makita product, I don’t recommend buying it, it’s trash, broke after a few weeks, don’t know if it was defective or not but before that, I was loving it, when it broke it started making loud screeching noises & the volume would fly up, that was just here & there after a couple weeks, I’d just unplug it & plug it back in, worked fine, wouldn’t do it for days but by the 3rd week, it did it as soon as you turned it on.

Yeah that should be a warranty claim.

I have the exact same speaker. Other than wishing it also had a FM radio, my only complaint is the range of the bluetooth is terrible. If I take my phone more than 10' from it, or if something/someone comes between my phone and the speaker it loses signal.

Appreciate the pics. Ive been on the fence about this one. Are the brushes serviceable? I like seeing those metal gears in there. Seems heat is the enemy of all these inflators.

It looks like they are not, but I didn't pull the motor out to see. Typically an inflator like this is used occasionally for short periods of time, so the motor should last for years.

I was on the fence about it too and bought it on a whim. It'll be good for taking on road trips or when I want to top up a tire and not turn the big compressor on.

Zoro is the B2C arm of Grainger.

Oh, I got it, regardless, I just didn’t want to take the chance of having another one do the same thing, I also seen they discontinued the teal speakers & put out silver & black ones, which are the same, so maybe they started developing problems & the new ones are corrected? I don’t know, just a thought.

Old Makita 4324 Jigsaw made in Japan. Still works great as you can tell with all the wood dust.

Another old Makita 6221D. Still works.

My favorite Makita.

Also have corded Makita circular saw but didn't take a picture since it's fairly new and boring.

Does anyone have the x2 leaf blower? If so, how is it working out for you? Is the add on narrow outlet tip worth getting for blowing leaves around?

Also, my x2 weed whacker started making a not very nice noise after a vigorous round and knocking back the forest. It seems to have gone back to normal but I’ll be keeping an eye on it going forward.

I have one and only bought it because I got it for a great deal. Turns out it's my most used piece of Makita OPE (also have two string trimmers, chainsaw & a mower). It gets used year round as it is great for blowing snow off of decks, vehicles, etc.

I have not purchased the narrow tip but but think I may get one.

Love it. Great for blowing leaves/needles off roofs and out of gutters, too.

Do you mean the flat-tip nozzle? I haven't found it terribly useful, as the constriction reduces airflow.

I have one but didn’t know the tip was available. I don’t really see an advantage unless you need to direct the air stream in a constricted area.

For general leaf blowing I want all the volume I can get.

I don't own one, but I borrowed one while working on my workshop project. It's not the X2 version, so wouldn't be great for blowing a lot of leaves. But for odd jobs around the workshop it's great. I will likely be buying one in the future.

I have one and it works great but I’ve never used a narrow tip on it. I’m not sure if there’s even one sitting in the box.

I’ve also used it for blowing snow off of the car in the morning.

Thanks all. I'm going to buy one. They're doing the buy the kit, get two free batteries deal right now. I bought my string trimmer with the same deal and those four 5A batteries have been great to use with all my other Makita tools. Four more and I'll probably be able to just buy bare tools for a good long while.

This is the narrow tip, in case anyone is wondering: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-XBU02Z-Flat-End-Nozzle-197889-6/302995610

x2 leaf blower works better with the flat outlet tip and 5Ahr batteries.

"Also, my x2 weed whacker started making a not very nice noise" Check the head to make it isn't loose or the string isn't binding (imbalance).

Engineer2 - I took your recommendation on both the x2 weed whacker and the x2 blower with flat tip and you were spot on. They work great.

Good idea. I did recently spool up some more heavily duty string. I wonder if that has loosened the head.
