Don't feel special. Nobody reads anybody elses posts. That's why there are answers to questions not asked, and suggestions for solutions when the solution is already posted. :lol_hitti

That's not what happened here. There are also questions that are asking for add solutions or looking to overcome obstacles that really shouldn't be there.

For new construction on an improperly roughed door, the path of least resistance would typically be to make two cuts with a reciprocating saw, pull some wood out, and make the frame true to what it should be.

If everyone were to "answer the mail" in all situations, many posters would be left spending more money and wasting more effort to get a worse outcome. <- So that type of thing wouldn't be too helpful.

I guess it's good that in this particular application, the OP doesn't mind having a small door, but on most structures built after 1930, walking through an exterior door less than 36" would feel really off.

It's an interior door... in which case a 30", 32" or 34" is fine.

So , my friends and I built a 15x17 room in the corner of my pole barn.

you could do what we did at the old house - buy a complete one piece 32" shower unit, then get home and realize the door on the bath is 30". 30" was a lot in 1924 apparently.

Yea, I grew up in an old 2 story stucco farm house. All the doors were about that size.
Hell, most rooms only had one electrical outlet. In fact the upstairs had none.

Wait, you mean I can't even feel special for being ignored? But, that's all I have left...

Looks like he got the answer he wanted, so it all worked out.

But what he really needs to do is reframe for an 8ft x 8ft insulated garage door, with a roll up security door in front of it, and the required Liftmaster shaft drive opener. Add cameras on both sides and motion detectors throughout (all wires in the walls in EMT, of course). How did you insulate the room? Spray foam, I hope...
