Mark,

From the responses here on GJ, it sounds like you could go into production on that exact design. Just wait until the gathering at your place and see if others agree. I'd live to get my name on that order list!

I thought I would check in with the last weeks progress. The wife is out of town for a few days so it gave me even more time to work in the garage. Heck, I got to have pizza 3 nights in a row:thumbup:

Our week got started off with a bang. We have done cars and boats, but never a motor home. The guy who owned the boat we painted about a month ago dropped off his 43 ft bus. Seems a deer ran out in front of him and took out the front facia. Looks like we are fixing this and then air brushing the scratches down the side of the motorhome that go through the graphics.

We hit the Corvette pretty hard this week. It never ceases to amaze me how much work these cars take. Deanna just happened to snap this picture on Friday afternoon when we were all hands on deck. The picture is a little blurry but you get the picture.

This is how the vette ended up this week.......

if your interesting in hearing it run check out this short You Tube video....

I know it has been a few weeks since I announced the 41 Willys was sold but I have been waiting for the transport company to pick it up. The Willys project started almost 7 years ago when it was conceived. It took 3 years to build and I have showed it for 4 years. Damn this car was gorgeous but it was time for it to move on down the road. This is my last shot of the car before it left for California.

I started a little storage project this morning. I have been using a few tents for temporary cover for "stuff" outside. I know the Monster Garage looks fancy but take no notice.........there is lots of redneck around here! Finally a few high winds encouraged me to build something more permanent. We took a cart full of lumber and in 4 hours had our roof framed. It is all out of pressure treated wood and should withstand the elements. Looking at either a peel and stick asphalt roofing or metal.

Will the water run off straight into your pond on that side. Looks like a nicely hidden BBQ and Drinking elfresco area more than storage nook.

Funny you say that because I had a 12 x 12 tent back there and I have always called it the employee lounge! This is where the smokers go to have a cigarette. I do plan on putting a small picnic table in here so we have a place to sit outside and eat lunch now the weather is getting cooler.

Good question on the water flow. I do have a storm drain 12 x 12 grate in this area that catches the water flowing behind the garage and it dumps into a 8 inch pipe leading to the pond. My plan is to have a 1 foot overhang outside the 6 x 6 posts so what you see hanging out will be cut off. I will install a gutter, downspout, and a 6 inch corrugated pipe that will outflow into the drain pipe already there.

Hey Mark, quick question on your corvette video from a total neophyte (I love garages but don't know cars at all... they have 4 wheels right?) : what is the red flashing thing your mate has in in the video? Thermometer?

It is a timing light. It is used to set the timing on a motor using a distributor.......or more simply, it makes the motor run right:)

Sorry. Right now its crunch time getting ready getting the 66 vette ready as we have a big car show coming up this Sunday. We also have jumped back on the 71 vette as well. I will get some pictures taken tomorrow……I guess I am just working too hard:thumbup:

I must admit I am not real sad. I guess with so much going on I had no time to enjoy it at all. I am looking forwarding to starting my 63 corvette in the near future so that will keep me occupied.

Hey guys know I have been slacking a little with photos. I am sure a few of you remember the 72 Blazer we had early in the summer. We replaced the rockers and some other sheet metal on the truck. The owner picked the truck up after we had it in primer and took it home to work on the engine compartment and now it is back. It was suppose to have a simple paint job on it but the owner has some higher expectations. Not only two tone but satin black on the top. A lot more work than anticipated but it should look cool. Hoping he follows through with some black wheels! Here is the truck as it arrived to day and is followed by the rendering.

We just got back on the Corvette this week. There was a rear set of flares to be bonded to the front as shown here. The front bumper has been bonded to the front end of the car. At some point the entire front end will be removed and the back side glassed to bond all of these pieces of the puzzle we are putting together. At some point we will be putting black gelcoat on the outside. We have done so much fiberglass work this car needs plenty of time to cure.

Another 15 hours on the nose. The outer lip around the flair had to be hand laid. This is also a good shot showing the upper fender vents we cut in a few days ago. This is grueling work:sad:

I want to let you guys know we are finally rolling the Corvette out tomorrow for its first official car show!! It has been a tough last few weeks on this car getting all of the details cleaned up. i don't know if you can really catch everything your first time:dunno: Today was the first time I was looking at the car as a completed project. I was going over the car pretty good and for the first time was looking at the car and actually admiring the work. We have been so focused on finding what was wrong i wasn't paying attention to what was right. It really has turned out better than I expected. As with any project there were a lot of things I learned and things I would do more efficiently the next time. Tomorrow I will upload a bunch of exterior shots. For now here is primarily the interior which we kept stock. I see Corvette out there with aftermarket gauges but quite honestly it is hard to beat the factory interior. We have kept this one completely stock on the inside………..however,check out the speaker box we made for the back. Its pretty nice! The cloth convertible top is just beautiful.

The 67 is looking fantastic! The 71... Not so much (for me). All the molding is making it look too massive and cartoonish. I'm hoping the finished product and/or the application of paint will tie it all together. In the meantime, if the owner is happy and keeps the money flowing, I guess that's all that matters.

I know what you are talking about but there is still time for it to come together. For us the real accomplishment is the enormous amount of fabrication we have done to this body. It has been no short order to put all of these parts together and to hand fabricate a lot of the glass work on this car. It has been a very interesting experience and one that has certainly been a lot of effort. I am hoping we get to keep it long enough to get the black gelcoat on it before it leaves the shop and to see this in one color.

A few comments on this project. As with most it did not start out to go this far. What was meant to happen was a suspension update and a front fender painted. 1100 hours later frame off, stripping paint down to the bare fiberglass, and the replacement of about every piece of interior and exterior piece of chrome. Addition of side pipes, custom built wheels, add A/C, lots of engine bling and a paint job of gloss black. A serious undertaking one might add. I think it has been quite an accomplishment for my first Corvette project.

I am looking forward to taking this bit of experience and turn my 63 into something special. In the meantime I am trying to get a C1 project into the shop. It has been started by someone else and is a very high end build. The owner wants to get this car back to the Sarasota area so I am keeping my fingers crossed we get it. I also have a few other surprises coming up for you guys:thumbup:

So if you are calling someone else work a "high end build" and you have done this car, and I haven't saw anywhere that you call it a "high end build", either you are selling yourself way way short, or there are no words made up yet for what you do beyond "high end". :headscrat

And as far as this 'Vette.......I would rank it beyond High End.:thumbup:

Wow, that looks fantastic. Nice work.

Mark, you've outdone yourself. This is the best c2 I've ever seen... simplistic elegance! Well done! JP

We pulled the 71 out of the room today to get some work done on the front end. For the first time had it out where we could put an eyeball on it. Its looking pretty radical. I took some pictures of the underside of the front end for you guys to see. What I want to point out is the incredible amount of work the guys have done. Keep in mine there were many pieces put together to make this front end. Although it is not finished yet look how it is approaching looking like one custom molded piece. There has been a tremendous amount of glass work and grinding done to achieve this look. Even the one off flairs look like they are a part of the front end. My hats off to the guys on this one.

By the end of the week it will be gone for a while. This fiberglass has some serious curing to do before we can consider painting it. As it is to be satin black we must be patient as we only have one chance to paint it right. It will be black gel coat before it leaves.

Well, I was gonna call it 'the Blackmobile' but after working out what the superhero that drives such a machine would be called (hint - racism) I decided to go with the obvious! :D

Mark, I have done a little fiberglass fab work and I concur with your kudos to the guys on this. Job very well done! This is going to be a build you remember for a very long time because of the level of skill, talent, a little luck, and pure perseverance that it's taken! Great job!

Unfortunately I won't be able to see any of this in person this Saturday. An old shipmate of mine is turning 30 and his party is Saturday evening. I simply can't miss it. I even have the C6 all polished up just for the occasion too. :( Have fun and take lots of pics!

That sounds pretty Sinister!!!!!

But, Mark Hamill doesn't like the "Darkside"!

Both Vette's are just Sick! You do beautiful work, Mark! :thumb up:

thanks Wingnut!!

I am sorry to hear this. I hired a photographer so we will have plenty of pictures. I will have to take a picture of the garage in the morning. I had 5 people here all day dusting!! It looks brand new again and looking forward to the party.
