I finally got tired of the 22.5 semi wheels on my dually because they were rough riding. I don't need my truck to ride like a Cadillac but they are so heavy it just stopped being fun. I decided to go 22" with black wheels.

That looks cool! What did it look like before? I love a big dually on bags tucking a big wheel! And im not even a fan of lowered rides.

I was wondering that as well. Had to go way back to page 125 to see the former version of his big brute of a truck. Here's the pic (saves you a lot of time):

While I was going back through the pages I found the 66 van again. How did that turn out Mark? I can't remember if you've posted the finished project.

:D Man I love the photo of the C10 with the dually! We never did get to finish the van. We had a little bit of a budget on it and the customer kept making changes. Then he would get upset because it cost more money. Then he would come back again and make changes and then wonder why it cost more money. About this time one of my guys left to start his own business and this customer followed him with the same results happening. He did finally finish the van and I have not had a chance to see it. We parted on good terms so I hope he brings it by.

I actually like the chrome wheel look better, and I hate chrome.

My wife does not like the black but for now its a change. I am going to put some black grill inserts in the front and leave it at that. I really got a wild hair to buy a new truck but mine only has 50K miles on it so there is not much use in spending $60K plus for a new one.

Always fun to check your thread. The new website looks great.

One thing that doesn't quite seem up to your high standards is the outside color of the shop. The funky yellow just looks dated. Perhaps a update for more "curb appeal"?

I guess I could cover the outside with rusted corrugated metal!! That might look cool!!

Ok I know I have some major updating to do so I will give my best effort here the next few days. Check out this GT40 we have in the shop. A guy loaned his car out and the friend crashed it. We are in charge of straightening the sheet metal and installing the new parts. By the way, one of those front fenders is $6000 and they have ID numbers on them. We are able to straighten them and fit all of the new parts. The customer wants stripes on the car too. This will result in having to remove the rear bumper and all of the lights emblems, etc. The car had stripes on it at the factory. The first guy who owned the car didn't want stripes so the stripes were painted over at the factory. We could still see where the stripes were as they did not sand them out. these cars are doing great big money now.

The 65 Corvette has turned into more of a project than anticipated. One never knows what lays under the paintwork on a Corvette. We found lots of bonds and fiberglass work done that was obviously not done by a Corvette guy. The front fenders, areas around the lights, and particularly the inner fenders were in such bad shape we made a decision to remove the entire nose of the car. We also found lots of structural problems behind the rear window and repair in that area as well. With bodywork for one man costing $2200 per week it was cheaper to buy $6000 worth of fiberglass body parts than spend the labor to repair the car. The front end won't be in for a few more weeks yet but it is completely assembled with the inner fenders and all already done. We did get the rear clip so we cut the top off and got busy installing it the past week or so. We have have working with the new 6.2 LT1 motor and 6 speed automatic trying to get it mocked up.

I just got the first draft of the rendering. There is no color on this concept but it will be coming. I was really hesitant on the big flares but they are starting to grow on me. The front spoiler came out nice and I like the small rear wing on the back. We are sticking with the 65 big block hood which you don't see too much on the resto mods.........everybody uses the "stinger" Corvette hood. We have pictured a set of the side rockers we built for my 63. Right now he is thinking of white or red for the body color.
What do you think?

Aren't all corvettes red? At least that is what the book All Corvettes are Red hints at. LOL I know I'm not in the majority here but I love the flares and think it is a great addition to the car, and man those tires are huge!

Mark, that gray must have struck a chord with me. For the past 4 or 5 years I had been looking for a Red Cadillac CTS-V but when I found a low mileage 2011 in Thunder Gray, it followed me home.

Red was the most popular color on 1963-4 Corvettes. Daytona Blue was the most popular on the 1965-6 Corvette and Goodwood Green was the most popular on the 1967.

I think a pearl white with red stripe and red interior would be a nice homage to the first Corvette. I find white cars often look like they are stripped-down models for some reason. Here's the comparison:

LOL......sorry it was the best choice so now we have to go with the second best color. We are looking at colors I considered before painting my 63 grey.

Yes, red is one of the choices......

White with Cognac interior.

Going to be another very nice build.

Thanks for keeping the '65 BB hood too.

Yes I completely agree with you as I love the 65 big block hood too.

Good looking Cadillac Bob!! Thanks for all of the color comparisons!!

Ok guys so you are the first ones to see the first renderings:thumb: Right now the considerations are white and red. We have started out with the white rendering first. I know sometimes white may be a little dead as Bob pointed out but if it had the black trim it might be pretty cool. The customer wants the 4 round pipes in the back.........not my first choice but its not my car. We have more work to do but one thing for sure we will do one in red after we finish with the white one. As already observed the tires will be huge on this car and I am excited about that. I don't remember if I have already mentioned but we are putting the new 2015 Corvette 6.2 LT1 in the car with a 6 speed automatic transmission.

Mark, I take back what I said about white. I think my problem is white with chrome trim because that white with black accents looks killer (is that the opposite of murder?).

I'm finally caught up with this. Thanks so much for sharing.

Interesting to hear about Mecum. Never been a fan of how they run the auctions, nor Mr. Mecum or his son. (from what I see on TV) The dad looks so disheveled and they are always pushing to take the reserve off. That only helps them.

Looking forward to more.

Looks like it is unanimous and we even have Bob on the team.:rocker: Here is a front elevation...thinking of painting the raised part of the hood black:dunno: We are doing a red rendering and I should have it soon...not my choice but depends on the customer.

Hi
I had to see them together :bounce:
Even then I am having trouble deciding but am leaning slightly more to the red.
I guess it is the owners "statement" that is important here, a tough understated ride would make the choice white, a brash "look at me" (with tyres and flares that big) would have to be red.
Cheers
Steve

You're cheating! putting exhausts, replacing the license plate, putting a different emblem on the back and removing the vents on the B-pillar of the red one makes it more difficult to choose. Well not really, my vote will be the white one.
White only suits cars with minor panel gaps, I'm sure you'll get that covered though.

Hey guys the owner has spoken.......he wants the red. Quite frankly I was hoping for the white color myself because red is the obvious Corvette color. I am sure you guys have seen Brian Hobaughs red 65 Corvette as it has been pictured all over the internet. As I builder I would never want to create a vehicle that looks like an already well known build but I don't have the last say in this. It will be a cool corvette no matter what color.

Both of those look awesome. If it was mine I'd still probably go with that dark silver posted a while back... that was an awesome looking color

Either way, should be nice car in the end!
