House built in 1978, pretty sure the Marvin Windows sliding glass patio door is original.

I would like to (try to) replace the outdated bronze/brass handle and lock assembly

Any idea if this is possible?

The locking mechanism secures to the frame via 3 evenly spaced posts. Very solid and very secure compared to modern day doors IMHO

I attached pics for reference

Have you contacted Marvin? They use similar hardware still on current production.

I need keyed, with TWO top screws and ONE bottom

I can't find this style anywhere online

Approx 1-3/4" wide and 12-3/8" long

I would like to change to a white color or brushed nickel

I bet you don't, have you taken this apart and looked at it?

I bet either the outdoor/indoor half are matched, so the new set (with 1 screw) would be as well. Or it screws into the wood, and again as long as the hole isn't dead center it will be fine.

A locksmith would give direction (at a cost) if you aren't sure.

There is a Marvin dealer in the Milwaukee WI area, Lisbon Storm Screen and Door, that claims to be one of the largest Marvin dealers in the country and ship thruout the US. Might be worth a call to them? Note: I don't have any personal experience with them.

Consider *********** coating the old one as a project or have a pro do it.

Doubt if powder coating would work over the plating.

My local powder coating won’t plate over chrome. Has to be electrochemically removed to get at the base metal.

Why do you think that is?

Google did no seem to have a good answer for me. It seems like chrome could be a problem.

Would brass plating come off with sand blasting?

Seems like refinishing costs are likely to exceed the cost of new hardware.

Probably because the chrome is a poor conductor of electricity. Brass would be ok if that’s the reason.

have to check with your powder coater, though.

Marvin parts only come from Marvin dealers. If you have your original door order, a dealer should be able to get you new hardware.

However... I just need a small piece of window trim for my own windows but can't get the time of day from any Marvin dealer because I'm not buying any new product from them. :( Not sure I will ever buy Marvin again.

Then you'll have more effort to get things matched up. I would take as many detailed pictures as you can with measurements to give to a dealer. (They may need to pass that info on to a rep to have them do the research to find your parts.)

Any stickers with numbers on the top or bottom of the door with serial numbers might help. (You may need an inspection mirror to look for these things.)

This. If you get the right hardware, take that apart and take it to a powder coat shop. They can blast it and apply a finish that looks just like brushed nickle.

My buddy has been working with Marvin on parts for his windows. They are quite helpful. I’d suggest giving them a call so they can point you in the right direction.

I looked everywhere, no numbers anywhere to be found

From Marvin:

"The lock for your door is no longer available, sorry

We have a retro fit handle option for product that was manufactured from 1991-2002. Please see the PDF service attachment. You might want to reach out to an aftermarket website called allaboutdoors.com "

So now, I wonder what door handle model or part number is able to be used with this retro fit handle option
