So when can we expect the comparison thread since you will be in a unique position having used/owned both, the Matco and SO versions?? :)

Yep, that would be cool.

I like the idea of buying from Lowes or the Milwaukee. Makes sense for the service and the price, esp.

Hilti makes a nice impact gun (made in Europe) about the same price as the Matco and SO, maybe even cheaper. And you get a good warranty on batteries and the gun, with fedex shipping within a day or two on dead batteries.

That's the way I'd go. Hell, the only reason to go with the truck on something like this is the financing or if you're a fanatic for that particular brand, right?

That said, the damn SO gun does look awful nice on the truck:)

Drop the matco and go with mac or snap on.
Matco reps are notorious for acting stupid when it came to their product warranties.
The fact is you bought your tool because you need it. They should know that is why you pay the high premium prices.

Is it? A lot of people need tools and don't pay the high premium prices. I'm all for high prices, just not premiums on top of it

Update again,

Matco district guy never called me yesterday and at 730 in the am he sends a text message to me asking for model and serial number. I didn't think that was very professional at all but I sent the info and a message that I'm tired of playing around and if he can't do anything I'll just pay off all debts and tell the dealer to not stop by. I had enough of the back and forth and stress over a stupid cordless impact gun.
He immediately called my phone (something he couldn't do before) and got all pissed off telling me he didn't like being threatened and it's not his dealers fault. I agree it's not his fault but it is what it is. I'm not going to do business with a company that doesn't treat customers well. The dealer is just collateral damage.
He then started acting condesending and said something like he heard my sad story already or something which pissed me off then the call dropped on his end. He then called back and more of the same back and forth and he asked what I wanted. I explained a refund for the amount of the gun or another gun but not waiting another month. He offered to refund $200 then call dropped out again.
He called back a little while later but I didn't answer (ya know cause I'm busy) and he left a message saying it's another 10 days until the part arrives at Matco and then it will be fixed and sent back and if I had any more questions about it call him.
I called back after and got voice mail and I told him again what would make me happy and now nothing....

There you wise decision:thumbup:
Well I:thumbup: called at the time the guy told me to call and got the voice mail. Never got a call back. Not going to call again. Paying off the dealer tomorrow and politely asking him not to make a stop at our place anymore. Just have no time for the ****** customer service. I have enough money to just tell them to keep the POS tool it's not a problem for me. Lesson learned. I will write a nasty letter to corp. and send a copy of the reciept for 1 new SO 3/8 cordless which I'll buy later tomorrow after the Matco guy leaves and SO shows up.[

Can't say I blame you for being tired of dealing with the issue. I would expect that service if I bought the tool from a standard retail store and it was past their standard return policy BUT I wouldn't want to pay inflated prices for customer service and get shorted.

The inflated prices of tool trucks are supposed to take care of warranty and service. They are supposed to bend over backward to get you a replacement tool immediately or do whatever it takes to help get you by such as a loaner tool or refund.
