I pulled off all the teflon tape on those fittings and went with Loctite Hydraulic & Pneumatic Thread Sealant. The tape doesn't really do much to prevent leaks and the Loctite once cured is good to 10000psi. I have no had a single drip except from the quick connect fittings during disassemble. I drilled straight to a 7/8 bit using the base plate as a guide and all of the included anchors bit hard the first time, no issue with cracking either.

Holes with plugs inserted.

Regarding the pilot holes: I drilled the pilots per the directions on one side and ended up with the anchors barely lining up in the holes. Frustrated, I just marked the floor on the other side and drilled with the 7/8 bit (was carefull the first few revs to keep it centered) and I couldn't have gotten it closer if it were CNC. I've always had a good eye. Half blind but I can eyeball holes and cuts like none other.

I think the hammerdrill I was using was slightly larger than the distance from the hole to the lift uprights putting the bit at an angle hence the off-centeredness of the first side I did.

I figured they were for getting the holes lined up, didn't think about concrete fracturing. guys at the store I rented the drill from said the pilot wasn't needed.

When I drilled my holes, I didn't use a pilot drill. The holes in the base plate of the unit wouldn't let the 7/8" bit turn, so I used it on impact mode only to make an indent on the surface, then removed the column and used this mark to drill the holes in rotary hammer mode. It worked well and I didn't have any holes off center.

I picked mine up from GRAINGER which had several in stock at different price points for different sizes. A Milwaukee bit that was 12" long ran me $50. Not super cheap, but I can't complain about the way it did the job. Good stuff.

Make sure match the bit to your hammer drill. SDS or SDS Plus. Most are SDS Plus these days. SDS Max is heavy commercial use and reaaaaaaally expensive since it requires highly specialized drills.

I rented bosch bits with the bosch hammerdril. SDS Max. worked like a hot knife through butter. Seriously, went through like a good sharp wood bit in soft pine.

Ditto on the Bosch bit and the hammer drill. No issues what so ever. I did NOT drill a pilot hole at all.... I did end up drilling or wallowing two of the holes so I ended up using two epoxy anchors on each side while the 3 other anchors bit in... I used concrete epoxy on all of them so even with the mechanical ones there is still a hold hold both mechanically and chemically!

Thank you for the link for the inserts!! I have been looking for these!!

I'd give GES a call and see if they can work out a deal for you.

They are super nice guys. I just finished the install on mine today.

Nice. Same as mine. I ordered a couple weeks late.
It only took 7 days for delivery.

My install was easy for the right post.

The left post was kind of a bear. I hit rebar and my bosche SDS-plus couldn't handle it. I ended up renting a SDS-max from Home Depot. The rebar was still a pain, but I finally got through. One of the holes was jacked up because the bit walked on the steal. I ordered epoxy anchors, but later decided to redrill a couple inches in. I used the epoxy anchors in the new holes and epoxy filled the old holes.

Today was my first day using the lift. I wish I'd have bought one of these things a long time ago!

Sort of kicking myself for passing on this one. I have an Atlas TD6-MR mid-rise scissor lift and I use it all of the time- at least 25 times in the year since I bought it. It has saved my family far more than what I paid for it, and it has made pretty much every task that I have done more simple than it would have been with an alternate means of completing it, from rotating tires to basic work under the car, to suspension & brake work.

As time goes on, those of you who purchased these will find more and more uses for the lift, and better and better ways to utilize it to make you r life easier.

Congrats on the purchase and happy wrenching!

PHenry, you say you are kicking yourself for missing this buy, is that because you were wanting a second lift or that you were unhappy with your mid rise and wanting a 2 post? What are your thoughts there?

As much as I use the Mid-rise, there are times when it does get in the way. For example, because it has to stay in place, I can't do tasks under the car where it is in the way. Also, because of the ramps that I use to park over the lift on a nightly basis, I can't just lift the car with a jack for quick stuff.

I would probably have bought the MaxJax unit and held onto the Atlas for a while and if I never used the Atlas, then I could have sold it. Unfortunately, having both in the garage at the same time might have been an issue, even if they were in different "bays" within my single-door, 2-car garage.

My only other complaints about a mid-rise is that despite being able to work around the lifting portion to do some driveshaft/exhaust work, it can still be a pain to have to work around it. Also, it can be time-consuming position the car perfectly on the ramps to lift the vehicle from appropriate & safe lift points in a symmetrical manner. Since lift points for all cars are different, I spend a lot of time playing with the right/safe points to loft one of my 4 cars, my parents' 5 cars, or those of other people who stop by for me to do something on their car. Once I know the safe points, it is a simple 2-minute task.

So where I was going with that was that as much as I use the mid-rise, I would use the MaxJax more. When I bought the mid-rise I had no idea how much I would actually use a lift so I was hesitant to spend the ~$2200 (at the time) for a MaxJax. After a year I can say that I use a lift often enough to justify having bought one, and that had I spent the additional money to go with a MaxJax unit in the first place I would have come out ahead (assuming depreciation of the TD6MR). With the cost of this group buy (and given that my car "slush fund" was adequately stocked to buy one when the buy was going on) I probably should have bought it and sold my Atlas.

A lift is (or can be) a 1-time purchase. If I never get another lift, I always have the TD6MR. But had I spent more on that "1-time" purchase, I would get more use and more ease of use for a nominal additional investment.

And that is why I am kicking myself. :)

Just wondering if there were plans to set up another GB on this. I'm in the market now and I'd love to get some savings.

The Costco pricing gets down to $2000 a few times a year. Between the local pickup option and the outstanding return policy, it's probably the best place to purchase a MaxJax if you don't catch a group buy. I think the last one was $1800 and someone mentioned back in November that GES still has some pretty good pricing, like $1900, on it currently.

I've been checking daily for the past 4 weeks from all the vendors and I havent seen a price lower than $2150. I'd jump on a $1800 price in a heartbeat!. I guess I'll have to keep waiting/looking for a deal to come along.

I think what Wangstang was trying to tell you is that someone mentioned on the previous page in this thread that they called GES in November (after this group buy was over) and got it for $1900. Give them a call, they may offer you a similar deal. I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger, but I'll be calling them if there's no active group buy or Costco sale when I'm ready. If you call, let us know if you get a deal.

You also have to put a value to your time that you are waiting. How long are you willing to wait for a discount of $200? Would you be willing to spend $200 to get it sooner?

You make a great point, and I was aware of those exact trade-offs. If there was interest again and a confirmed group buy was happening, say in two months time, I'd wait. To be completely honest....I've be researching this lift for the past two months, almost daily, and I've got to have one:thumbup: I don't think that I could wait 4+ months time.

I appreciate the feedback guys, I'll keep searching for the best price, but it looks like I'll buy it from Menards this week unless another vendor can beat that price. I've called a few places that claim "garanteed lowest prices...", but they were unable to beat Menards price.

Does Menards still have the 11% off deal? I'm not sure of the specifics but folks were getting some good deals from there by buying gift cards for 10ish percent off and then using them for the 11% off sale.

It was 11% MIR on gift cards + 11% off. No, that sale is no longer running. If you bought a gift card at 11% off you could be using it now though on the MaxJax. :) You have to order in-store though I believe, no online ordering via gift cards.

Just an update to those that were wondering....

I called and/or emailed all certified vendors of Dannmar lifts and asked if they could beat the listed pricing at Menards. I got about half the vendors willing to match their price and half the vendors willing to beat their price (all at varying prices).

I won't disclose what the ultimate price was, but I ended up buying it from BestBuyAutoEquipment.com. The staff was friendly and was tied with ASEDeals.com in terms of best pricing.

As a summary:

  • GES- Price Match
  • Best Buy Auto- Beat the price
  • Garage Auto- Beat the price
  • JMC Automotive- Price Match
  • ASE Deals- Beat the price
  • OEM Parts Hause- Price Match
  • eAuto Tools- Price Match
  • Equip Tools- No responce

I'm looking forward to installing it and having this lift get some serious usage over the next year for a drag car that I'm building.

I've been lurking for a while. I wish I could have jumped on the group buy pricing but I wasn't ready to purchase at the time. I'm happy with the pricing I got (would have loved to go lower...) but I also wasn't willing to wait too long either.

Had I not purchased a mid-rise scissor lift about a year ago, I would have jumped on the Group Buy this winter. I use my Atlas TD6MR all of the time but I can see where the MaxJax might be more useful for undercarriage work.

If I ever sell the Atlas I'll be getting a MaxJax.

So I have a question about the max jax. It has all the height I need but is it capable of storing a car lifted for a month at a time. I need it to go up 4 feet so I could pull the bonnet of another car just barely under.
Can this do that? I haven't found any other direct answers.

Thanks.

I have some very disappointing news to share.:shocking: I just got off a chat on Danmar's website and Gabe (member UPSHIFT) is no longer employed there. He has not posted on GJ for about a month and that is when he got done at Danmar.Do a search and you will see that he was one of the most helpful reps here:bowdown:.A Danmar sales rep is going to contact me directly about group buys in the future...we'll see how that pans out.:dunno:

How did the whole group buy concept get started here? I wonder if there would be interest in a group buy for 4 post lifts? I'm personally ready to buy one of them.
