I try to stay away from the cure-alls in a bottle but some of them do work and Seafoam is my favorite. As mentioned above it's great for removing the varnish from carburetors. A few of my successes:

-Dad brought me an old front-tine tiller he'd found in the trash. The poor thing was beat but I could get it to fire on ether but it wouldn't even cough without it. I tried changing the plug and spraying carb cleaner in it but still nothing. Finally I drained the fuel tank, put about half a can of seafoam in it, pulled the starter a dozen or so times to fill the carb with seafoam, and let it sit for a week. I topped the tank off with gas and it fired up after 5 or 6 pulls. I let it sit and idle until it emptied the tank and now it runs great.

- I have an old Jeep CJ that sits a lot. Last summer it was getting hard to start, wouldn't idle well, etc. I parked it for the winter and when I got it out this spring it would barely run. I popped the top off the carb, sucked the gas out of the float bowl, and filled it with seafoam. I moved the linkage a few times to get the seafoam into all the passages and jets, put the top of the carb back on, let it sit for 24 hours, and it runs better than it has in years.

- I have a small, cheap generator that I use when camping. Needless to say it sits a lot and it was getting tougher and tougher to start. Half a can of seafoam in the tank and it was good to go again.

I tend to neglect my small engines but after these experiences I started putting a couple of ounces of seafoam in my 5 gallon cans before I fill them up and all of my small engines start easily and idle smoothly. I also put half a can in the tank of my Jeep when I fill it up. It doesn't get driven much (I only go through 2-3 tanks a year, mainly in the summertime) but the seafoam has prevented any further carb issues. It really is great stuff.

Lots of good examples Nick. Thanks. I'm thinking maybe one ounce per 2 gallon gas tank? I'm also now using about an ounce of the Stabil per 2 gallon tank to prevent bad gas over time. Capful of Marvel Mystery Oil for good measure too? - Paul

Paul,

Sea Foam also serves as a fuel stabilizer. Per the Sea Foam website: "Stabilize Fuels for up to 2 Years".

I'm afraid I can't help you with dosage, I fall victim to "if some is good, more is better" when it comes to Seafoam.

I used to put MMO in stuff but other than smelling nice I never really noticed any benefits. Some people swear by it though.

Ah, thanks Wing. I did not know that. So no need for Stabil with a dash of Seafoam instead. Good to know.

I might substitute a touch of moonshine then instead of the Stabil. I think my engines would like that ! :eyecrazy: - Paul

They still have the Rubbermaid shed 7x7 on sale. Good deal. If I wasn't getting married in a couple of weeks I would be all over this

Noticed at Menard's on sale right now couple things:

1. Looks like all the new Wilde made in USA and very high quality chisels and punch pins are on sale. A few good sets combining various things too. I like this one: https://www.menards.com/main/p-2751068-c-9170.htm

2. Free Steel yard stick after rebate.

3. Interesting item: Little sanding drums and paper that have a hex shaft, for use with cordless drills. While dremels have had such forever and very useful, they have lots of different and bigger sizes than for just a dremel. Easypower is the brand on sale. Useful for tool polishing or other portable sanding in tight spaces using a regular cordless drill vs. a dremel, or for bigger size diameter drums than a dreml can do.

4. Masterforce brand reciprocating saw blades. I noticed these are almost identical to and made by MORSE in USA. While Morse makes the best and most expensive set at Menards, the medium grade MF sets are same as the medium grade Morse sets, and very high quality (easily same goodness as Swiss made, Bosch, etc.) Check them out if you haven't yet, another good MF item.

5. Pretty decent MF screwdriver assortment, made in USA by Pratt Reed, very nice for the money. I like the MF ones better than the modern Craftsman acetate screwdrivers from Western Forge, but this may be some personal preference.

6. Noticed a bigger Montana brand combo cordless drill/driver set, made in USA and high quality. I like Montana brand after trying them last year. - Paul

I just got that Wilde three pc pry bar set. Same one Craftsman used to rebrand for K-Mart. It's marked as discontinued online so you might want to get one before they sell out. Also picked that 3pc vise grip electrical set. I've been watching it for ages but doesn't seem like they are going to drop the price much more so grabbed one of the two my store had left. Going to go back and snag some more sale stuff later this week though.

And I also like the Masterforce (i.e. Pratt Read) Drivers.

Telling, let us know how you like the Irwin electrical pliers set. I generally am not fond of Irwin's parent company after they destroyed Vice-Grips pretty completely. I just see most Irwin as typical China Coo stuff. Am I missing something there? Anything? - Paul

What do you think of the Wilde prybar set? I was walking around with one for like a half hour last time I was in Menards before finally deciding to hold off and research pry bars a bit more.

What about them? A prybar is a prybar the world round. If it was me I would get the Craftsman rebranded ones for ease of warranty.

I like them, they close nicely, cut nicely, balance well etc etc. I know of nothing else that compares at that price point. Insulated Knipex are Hella nice but cost 4 times as much, not really comparable.

The pliers seem nice and are made in Taiwan. I got them more to have for my occasional electrical work. Pretty much why I picked these up. Don't need a premium set for my little usage. And while I'm not a big fan of Irwin either, it was $25 and figure they are just nice to have around.

And Craftsman used to rebrand those prybars. Now they are imports. I'm sure you might find some NOS out there but the new sets are not the Wilde ones. And I like them fine. A nice basic prybay. I already got the Craftsman Pro set so this is more for having around the house.

The Craftsman prybars are still Wilde, not imports. The only imported ones were really cheap ones at Kmart. Sears never had them.

Off topic, but I don't believe anybody has actually proven that the Craftsman version is now being made overseas. The only proof I have seen is that the versions sold at Kmart are made overseas, but those are different than the ones sold at Sears. I'm sure it's only a matter of time, but as of now you shouldn't have any trouble finding USA-made sets.

Firworks, you shouldn't have any trouble finding reviews of the Craftsman version. The 3pc set is often on sale for less than $20, so many members here own them.

This is not the same as the sears 3pc pry bar set. This is a different one. There are two small handled pry bars and a rolling head. Kmart sells that set not the sears one. They used to be made by Wilde but are now imported.

Here is the Kmart one. http://www.kmart.com/craftsman-3-pc-prybar-set/p-005W434122320001P?prdNo=4&blockNo=4&blockType=G4
Here is the link to the menards wilde one http://www.menards.com/main/p-2751068-c-9170.htm

Again these are not the same as the sears set. And the ones in Kmart are now imported. I'm not saying the sears ones are imports.

Menard's is having a 3-day crazy day sale:
http://www.menards.com/main/home.html

Not much excited me except for the LED Worklights for $90. Does anyone have experience with these? One of the bulbs burnt out on my Halogen set so I can't see buying a new bulb for such an old technology. I wonder if there are unnecessarily bulky for the technology now. (They could probably be 1/10 of this size.) My biggest interest is if they put out a similar amount of light and if it is not splotchy.

I have one of these with 2500 lumens that they had on sale for $29 about a month ago. Love it. Decent quality. Nice amount of light. And it doesn't get hot like the old halogens.

Those lites kick ****. I was at a friend's scrapping a van over the weekend and we had one of those short models... super bright, not hot, ...I was pretty impressed considering I just bought a similar halo one like it last year and, while its really bright and effective, this kicks its ****.
