Menards is sure not promoting it very well if they doing a bag sale at all of their stores. No mention of any bag sale on their website that I can find.

I have been sick so I haven't been out to see if the Sunday paper has a bag in it.

I thought that was really strange with no mention of it on their website. Sometimes you can ask for a bag at the front desk.

I don't have your exact tools. I am using the Dewalt stand with Dewalt DWS780 miter saw which is also a 12" miter saw. So, from a pure sliding miter saw stand, I think you will be OK with the Menards miter saw stand. I do not use my stand for anything but miter saw. But it is folding so I remove the miter saw and stow away the stand. I think you will be happy with the stand, as it offers several advantages over the Dewalt stand that I have.

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks Liamtoh, appreciate your thoughts. I'm thinking I want to get this one. - Paul

Yes, i heard about the bag sale from an email, not on the website. I may get over there tomorrow. Not like years past where you had overlap between bag sale and 11% off sales, plus that magic one or two days of triple overlap that let you use giftcards too, previously acquired during the 11% off time, for a super combo! If the economy gets really bad, maybe Menards will bring that back again! - Paul

I was just in Menards, up at the service desk there were a bunch of them in the garbage can, I am almost positive if you ask them they will give you a new one, if they don't have a new one they'll give you a used one.

Montezuma 72" stainless toolbox on sale for $499 at my store. Was ~$450 after rebate (which ended yesterday). Seemed like a really good buy for the money but I don't have anyplace to put it other than the living room right now and I don't think wifey would let that slide

saw that yesterday.
and another one.
i forget which one, but 1 had a, as tall as the box, drawer, in the middle of it.
sweet!. although, i have no more room, living room included

Sounds like the same box I'm talking about. Wouldn't call it ultra heavy duty, but seemed like a really nice box for the $.

Hey guys, bag sale 15% off all in the bag starts today. Also, new ad out for other stuff.

Question for the board: They have the MasterForce Miter Saw Stand Station for $120 on sale. I got a huge Rigid 12" slider saw. Would this be a good match for that saw? Who has one and comments please? Has a lifetime warranty which is good. Let's keep discussion to the MF stands mainly, pros/cons. thx- Paul

FWIW I have the 10" Rigid sliding miter saw and at first tried the cheaper masterforce miter saw stand that was on sale month or so ago. I didn't care for the stand. Kind of putsy to get all 4 legs open. It wouldn't store well unless it was horizontal. I returned it because one of the legs wouldn't deploy easily.

I ended up later getting the Ridgid miter saw stand on sale for $99 and love it. Deploys and stores much easier. Lifetime warranty on stand too.

Thanks Bass, question though: Once the saw was installed on top, and legs were open and set up, was it strong and stable as a stand? I actually won't often be collapsing the legs or moving it. More intending to set it up in place and mainly leave it there, but swap out bench tools on top of it from time to time. For this purpose, is is strong and stable? I didn't actually like the Rigid one as I want a more open footprint like this MF one has. - Paul

Just grabbed a ton of made in USA hand tools at menards. Saved $38 with the bag so that tells you what I spent. Looks like my little set for the shed will be well stocked now.

Edit: I lied. The knipex are German. Need to sprawl this stuff out somewhere and take a pic

Wow, you bought alot! It will be fun to see what all you chose! Lot's of good US made tools (and some German) at Menards. Many more US made at Menards now than Sears actually, by far. - Paul

Actually it's really a great stand when set up. It IS unwieldy and a pita to tranport, move around and store. I used it for about 7-8 months. I sold it on CL. I looked at just about every other miter saw stand out there. I settled on the Bosch. It even matches my Bosch miter saw as well as my table saw. The stand is phenomenal. It's is easy to set up and take down. Very easy to transport, even getting it in and out of the truck single handed.

I miss Menards. Wonder if they will ever get to Az?

Thanks Dan, appreciate your thoughts on the stand. So today I picked one up! May be a bit before I can put it in place and together, but am giving it a go. I wanted an open type one, not like Rigid or Dewalt more boxy ones. And more of woodshop workstation for me, so movement is less important. I won't be moving the 12" Rigid slider - too heavy. I have a 90's ryobi 10" fixed miter for moving around when I need to.

On Menards in Arizona, how do you and the other residents feel about being annexed as part of the MidWest? We are spreading you know as are our values. Look out! :shocking:BTW, Sodona is really a pretty place to visit. I liked it better than the Grand Canyon actually. Everyone should visit Sodona once in their lives at least. - Paul

I just got my 15% off bag in the mail today. It says it's good through the 10th. I think I'm going to get all my Unistrut hardware with it.

Does anyone know when the Masterforce 72s will be going on sale again? I was wanting to get a couple blue ones. The last time they were on sale the red, black, and green were all 999 but the blue came up as regular price. I am just curious. I don't get to Menards much because there isn't one close but for those I will make the trip.

The MF one I had was very strong once set up. Only problem I had was a bad leg push button on it. Be sure you check the ones on your stand too. If you aren't going to be collapsing it and moving it often it'd be a great option.

The blues were on sale too - I bought one. I think they go on sale about every other month or so.

Noticed Menards Tool Rolls are on clearance for $4.99. That isn't too bad for those who like their kit rolled up vs in a bag or box. I like the wrench rolls too as a great way to keep a whole set together. I'm finding wrench racks, regardless of who makes them, just are too annoying most of the time. I'm moving to rolls for my wrenches. The MF ones were on sale a while back but not now on the wrenches. - Paul

i like their rolls... put one together for my mom's van...

sad they are on clearance... guess that lifetime warranty (yep the label for the roll says it) won't mean much once they are gone

This is a shout out for Masterforce circular saw blades.

I've heard they are made by Freud. This could be true. I wouldn't know.

I like Freud Diablo blades very well but I think the Masterforce blades are just as good. Both claim C3 hardness carbide and both have excellent wear profiles.

... but Masterforce provides triple the value. Fantastic blades, IMO.

They are of particular value for specialty sizes like 6.5" for battery powered saws. I picked up some MF - 6.5" blades for my M18 Milwaukee 6.5" cordless circular saws and they perform fantastic (as do the Diablos). I would say they are far, far more durable than Milwaukee blades.

I've never compared Masterforce blades to DeWalt. The DeWalts are too expensive for me to test out, considering I picked up these MF blades for $9 per blade and they work like a dream.

I've been needing to replace the 12" blade on my miter saw and just saw an excellent deal on a Masterforce blade combo pack. I wasn't sure of the quality so I passed until I could do some research. If these are made by Freud, I'll definitely be picking them up.

Thanks for the blade tips Tom. Another one for anyone newer to using saws: Wax the blades, both the teeth and the middle sections. Helps any saw to cut more easily and smoother. Any wax is good, even hard candle stump ends.

Anyone know for sure who makes the MF blades? I want to know too! - Paul
