Except for the fact that menards corporate policies make walmart look like a church. I have much less guilt shopping at Walmart than Menards. (both are rare)

Please express their questionable policies. I hear people complain about Wally and Menards, but they never give examples.

I second the request. My vast experience with menards is overwhelmingly positive, moreso than any other large chain store actually. They are remarkably easy to deal with and more than fair. I've heard people complain about them subsidizing a race car for a nephew or something, but I couldn't care less. The prices they charge me are far better than home depot or lowes everytime I have checked and they do a better job than most supporting US manufacturing. What they do with their earnings is up to them. So, do you have a legitimate issue?

^^^ This ^^^

I can visit Lowes, Home Depot, and Menards in one approximately 5.5 mile loop (plus stop in at the Habitat ReStore) so it's not like I frequent their store because it's more convenient. The Menards staff is consistently better to deal with when I do need help finding something. I have found them to be more knowledgeable and when they don't know or don't have what I want, they say so. Additionally, their return process is much easier with the receipt kiosks. I still shop at the other stores but only for those items where I can't get what I want at the local Menards (e.g. Home Depot will cut plywood to size).

I shop at menards because I feel they usually have the best value on a lot of things and now they are 10 min closer than HD for me. But I do feel a little guilty about supporting MR Menard.

The policies he's referring to aren't customer facing, the owner is just the worlds greatest *******.

I have to drive by a HD and Lowe's to get to Menard's. I generally do. Their pricing here is much better than HD. I just like their layout and employees a lot better than Lowe's.

Yeah I look past the owner and the goodness of the company and many employees. Where I am, Lowes is really high priced and HD not far behind. Menards is typically about 75% the cost of those when NOT on sale. I only go to HD or Lowes when they have a massive clearance deal or sale or just can't find it at Menards, which is pretty rare. - Paul

Menards is probably my favorite place to shop. Even my wife loves going there. Everytime we go to town, even if we don't need to stop at menards, we still make time to walk through. We always find something we need or on sale.

I get the impression you like gravy from menards... lol, can you tell me if they contain an ingredient called MSG? My wife won't let me have things that contain it since apparently it's not the best for you, and not having gravy makes me sad. I have explained I will die of several hundred things before I die of MSG to no avail. If they don't have it I think I could overcome my anti food at menards tendencies and give it a shot.

It seems like the owner is a paranoid douche that thinks every employee is out to steel from him. I read an article that said something like you can't build or remodel a home if you are a manager there. No exception. There was an employee who had a handicapped child and they remodeled the house to accommodate and didn't even buy anything from Menard's so she could avoid any accusations. They still fired her. Even though they KNEW why she had to remodel. His (owner) thinking is if you are a manager you have the ability to change price and if you remodel you will be tempted to steal. So zero tolerance.

You hit some of it. They meaning john and Larry love power. They love not having shareholders and knowing that they can rule people for little amount of money.

One time when working larry sent an employee home next to me and the next day fired since he was growing a beard.

I was sent home since I was sick but if you call in you get a write up. Either way I lost because I didn't feel well. They were questioning if I was drunk when I am against drinking as it is.

Oh when firing a gm for the store. They take you out to lunch and when you leave the building the new one comes in. While at lunch they tell you that your done and find your own ride home asking for the company truck keys back.

John wants control of his family including the newphew who is driving. Don't worry the driver hates john as well.

MSG doesn't enhance flavor. It's a chemical that tricks your brain into thinking bland food tastes good. Explains why you guys think that powdered junk tastes good.[emoji3]. Ramen noodles have the same thing.

Interestingly none of what is being said is making me like menards less, just sounds like jealous people whining. Without context or facts it's all just meaningless junk someone posted on the internet.

I'm waiting to see if these guys manage to get the Menard's Hot Deals thread locked.

AGREED! Please, back to "hot deals", or this thread is useless. If people want to b!tch, start a separate thread.

I would've too if you didn't ask someone that should'nt have been in receiving if they needed help or at least said hi.

Go Browns. Lol. They are on their what 5th rebuild since 99? I used to be a season ticket holder from 99-2010. I gave them up. In Menard's news in Cleveland. We are getting one on Brookpark rd in Brooklyn where Super Kmart used to be. They have already torn it down. But have not started building yet

I've been looking at these in Menard's for quite some time now and watching them slowly go down. I am not a fan of the recessed handles and the stiffness of the detents (the Masterforce latches are much nicer), but at that price the downsides have been offset. Making a 90 minute drive (one way) tonight to pick up 3 of them as my local Menards already sold the one that they had.

Ha ha, I lied. During my drive had time to think about what I have paid for all of my other boxes. Got there, did some measuring and brought home 4. Planning on doing some rearranging of drawers to fit my needs and fixing my biggest issue with these boxes, the drawer pulls, or lack there of. Occurred to me that I can just steal another idea I have seen on here somewhere, drilling some wrenches to make actual handles/pulls.

Post some Pics please so I can "borrow" your ideas.

Trying to resist from buying a second one.
