I have one of their boxes from orschelns (similar to TSC) and its a well built box. Judging by the weight from an earlier pic I wouldn't expect much from this box

No SS but they do sell a wood or stainless top. For the price I just don't see the quality in the box. I have seen the 72" Masterforce on sale for $999. For my money that's what I would buy. I have 2 46" in blue and love them, just my 2 cents.

OR.... Wait till next January and see if Menards will let you buy the gift cards again using the 11% off to buy them, then buy after that immediately or later for another 11% off, or about 22% off total (minus tax and stuff). Lots of us took advantage of the gift card last Jan, but everyone ran out of funds they put in them by summer at the latest! (I think I was the longest holdout to still have some credits left). If they do it again, I'll put more on a card next time. It is good for cash flow for Menards, like the rebates, as they get money up front this way. Good for customers too because we get a better discount. - Paul

Question: Is the 4 gallon Porter Cable 3.4 cfm@90 psi any good for the $99 in the new ad? Anyone have one or similar? I have a little 2.5 gallon now but would like a little more air tool or nailer capability. thx- Paul

Even better, there was an overlap period of the 11% off anything that fits in a bag sale and the previous 11% off sale for one Saturday only last winter. For that one day, you could combine all three and the gift card for the 33% off anything (roughly, minus taxes and stuff). A super deal. But that was only what would fit in a bag, and had to be on top of the sales to get it. Many here did. Normally, the 2x11% off is best I've seen for bigger stuff. So, if a "sale" price is less than 22% off, just go buy the thing. If not, you could wait for a deal like above. Menards often will do new sales that start on Saturday and let old sales also end on Saturday, so there is a one day overlap of sales often.
Other good deals right now on stuff: Free picture hanging kits, Free "duster things Grime Boss" (my wife likes it), Cheap $5 after rebate gallon Softsoap hand soap (if you have kids like me), Free tool bags that expand (not too bad) (wife will use one of these for misc). And some free shirts too. All after rebates. - Paul
Actually the ratcheting adjustables are pretty bad, not even worth the bother to get them for free.
I looked them over in the store, they come attached to a card with a plastic "bolt" that you can turn to try out the wrench. It actually worked pretty well on the plastic bolt and I thought it would work well as an emergency tool so I bought one. Yeah, not so much. I tried it out on a 9/16 nut on a muffler clamp this morning. The nut wasn't rusty and wasn't very tight to begin with but I couldn't get it to budge either way with the ratcheting adjustable. The little cams in the jaws are knurled and they just dug into the nut and wrecked it. I gave the wrench to my 5 year old to use when he helps out in the garage.
On the other hand, the Old Mill brand work boots that are $20 after rebate are decent for the price, I've been wearing my pair all day and they are quite comfortable after the addition of some cheap wool insoles.

I thought about those boots but didn't get those. Maybe I'll go back. I also questioned how good the Skil would be. Skil just doesn't seem to understand how to make these kind of racheting tools. You can't kill the bolt head just to turn it. Maybe as a pipe wrench, useful? Or ignore the middle of the head of it and just use the end like a regular adjustable. Probably still worth free, else it can go to my 3 year old boy! - Paul
Hmm, it might work on pipe, let me run out to the shop and give it a try...
Edit: I'm back. I couldn't get it to work on pipe either, I tried it on 3/4 galvanized pipe and on a 1/2 pvc fitting. The teeth just slipped on the galvanized pipe but they chewed up the hex on the pvc fitting. I'm afraid it's a paperweight.
It's funny, the side of the wrench that was visible in the packaging is fairly nicely finished but the back side (that faced the card it was attached to) has rough grinder marks all over it. Oh well, my boy isn't picky.

Yeah their sizes are usually pretty limited on the rebate clothing, I didn't get any polo shirts because all they had were pink or bile yellow in S, XL, XXL, and 3XL.

That's really a shame that Skil messed this up so much. Perhaps these are perfect for "experiments" to mess with. Would make a nice handle to turn something with a small weld applied. Or cut out some different grips in the middle to fit something useful even if they don't rachet any more! My boy though already has played with it and successfully adjusted his first adjustable wrench at a pretty young age. He can already use screwdrivers too!

Yeah we do. He can figure anything out in about 5 minutes though (gets that from dad, mechanical ability). Read as: TROUBLE! And the fact he's 38" tall means he can get into about anything he wants too!
He's sitting on my lap right now watching some Curious George video while I type on GJ and surf the net! GJ is a good way to occupy your brain while babysitting little kids! - Paul

Saw the box on display today. Drawers have about 2" of play side to side. I wouldn't give em $50 for this POS.

Wow! Lots of good BF stuff here. Shop Vac 4.5 HP for $10 is a winner! 3 piece Masterforce Pushlock pliers for $10, rebadge of Irwins looks like (new item). Clamping workbench like a Black and Decker for $7.50. Camouflage Bomber Hat for $6. Ferrero Rocher and Lindt truffle chocolates for $2.50 (favorites). And in the other new Christmas Catalog ad, the heated car seat cover for $5 is nice. These will be on my list. - Paul
