I hope those Jack's pizzas go back on sale soon
In every Menards I've ever been to there's is a disclaimer on the sale and price with rebate signs stating the dates of the sale and that price is not valid after a certain date
Thank you.The first time I stopped I missed them.. I took a second look the day I bought them and found them. There were 2 or 3 end caps of Irwin stuff... the cobalt bits are discontinued at least at my store so you could very well just be out if stock.

Plenty of state laws tell them to go stuff it up their tailpipe. If they're displaying a price, it's what they're supposed to charge. "WE forgot to remove the shelf tags" isn't an excuse, nor is 'We put them up too early'.
You're misinterpreting the state laws.
Well. I did get those cobalt irwin drill bits, that on clearance, I bought two sets. The little ones are dull. Tried to use them for pilot holes in stainless. Dull! Used the bits that shop supplies for pilots. Then used bigger bit fron irwin set for the hole that I actually needed. The larger bit worked fine, but then it had a pilot hole so it had to do less work. I returned the second, unused, irwin set.
In conclusion. In addition to this irwin cobalt drill bit set I also have irwin tap handle. The handle keep loosening up when I use it. Recently did a bit of reading and I am not the only one who has this problem with irwin tap handles. So. I am NOT BUYING anymore of irwin stuff. I am done with irwin.
I am sure they are fine for wood.I bought a few Irwin things I've been very happy with. The Speedbor bits are good and I use them for large 3/4-1-1/4" holes that I found work better than the Bosch DareDevil spade bits. Past that size, I go up to the Irwin self-feeding bits. All of these I have been very happy with.
While I swore off traditional spade bits long ago, I've actually found that they work pretty well for drilling the larger 1/2" and 5/8" deep holes through multi-ply wet AC2. And the Irwin seem to hold up pretty good.
Oh, and the 11% continues tomorrow. Sorry.
I agree. I was at Menards Friday night and a store clerk indicated, they were having another 11 percent off week then this week. She also indicated that they plan on having 25 weeks of 11 percent this year.
I would be sending pictures to corporate as usually that kind of stuff can get them in trouble with state laws.Well I hate to say it, but in my store where they don't bother to remove old sale signs for two weeks, then stock those spaces with nearly the same alternate stuff by same mfr, never on sale, and leave the sale signs up, so you are fooled, I prefer the 11%.

I don't work with wood.
I work with STAINLESS STEEL!
A Whole Different Ball Game.
The ONLY reason I got cobalt bits is FOR STAINLESS.Irwin still has some USA cobalt bits that I've been using with good effect, although not on stainless. I've got several pages of tooling set up at CamelCamelCamel, it's suprising how many real deals come around in a years time.
The mindset between wood workers and metal worker is VERY different, obviously wood workers have no clue.
They are taking it out of context. If you would link that thread or PM it to me, I will go there and chime in with my specific point of view. This way people will know which Irwin products to avoid.Others commented on your post because you lumped all Irwin products together as poor quality, when they seem to work fine for other types of work. Nobody discredited what you said about using them on stainless. No need to insult others.
One thing I do lile is it forces Lowe's and HD to offer the 11 percent off as well if you have some nearby. I've been saving a ton between coupons and 11 percent off from lowes

For regular mild steel (Hoffman enclosures, if you know what those are), I will use shop bits and pay nothing for them.
I was watching AvE video about different drill bits a few weeks ago. In the beginning AvE makes this snide comment about people who work with wood... I did not really think about it until now. I now understand much better what AvE felt/meant. The mindset between wood workers and metal worker is VERY different, obviously wood workers have no clue.
I shop HD during menards rebate sales. I can enter my HD receipt numbers and dates directly into HD's site and do not need to send in a paper copy. HD is slow sending the gift cards but they are easy to use. I like the cards better than the paper check from Menards.
After that, I noticed the **** following me around. ......(and rant)
The thing about Menard's check type rebates is that you don't pay tax on that amount when you redeem it. If it were a Visa type or a store gift card, it will charge tax on the purchase. That means 7% or so goes to the local and state....7% is 7%. I mean you paid tax on the rebate amount during the initial purchase/transaction...Why should or why would you want to pay it again.
That's basically a sale price. They want you to forget about sending the rebate. I get it, it's all part of the game. I do my best to follow through with my end so they have to follow through with theirs. Yeah, it's effort, but I understand how it works from the get go.Same in Minnesota, but there also wouldn't be tax applied if they just gave 11% off without the whole rebate BS.
The Irwin end caps that have been there for a couple weeks were all on sale yesterday. Stacked with the 11% there were some good deals on some miscellaneous impact and drill bites. Many items were 50% off.
