I've been trying to figure out who makes Menard's Masterforce and Tool Shop brands of tools. Heres what I've figured out.

Masterforce Pliers are the same as HFs Pittsburgh Pros just with different green rubber handles. However there are more pliers in the Masterforce line than there Pittsburgh Pro line. Such as a 11" long reach pliers thats a copy cat of the craftsman.

Masterforce Screwdrivers are the new style of Pratt-Read screwdrivers (saw the same style of pratt-reads at Fleet-Farm)

Masterforce Powertools I'm not sure who makes them but I believe there the same as Tractor Supplys Masterhand brand.

Masterforce Tool Chest I believe are made by these guys http://www.tetools.com/

As far as Masterforce's tapes, knifes, hammers, etc.. I'm still trying to find out.

I have no idea who makes the Masterforce sockets and ratchets. Could be the same as TSC Masterhand however I think Masterhand is made in Taiwan and Masterforce is China.

Now the Tool Shop line is the same regular HF stuff. I believe things like pliers, sockets, wrenchs, and some of the ratches to be rebagged HF stuff. I know Tool Shop power tools are the same as HF. I have a jig saw that is Tool Shop and saw the same thing at HF today just orange.

Of course Menards sell's Allen brand of ratchets, sockets, and wrenchs but we all know those are Danaher, looks the same a KD stuff which looks alot like Craftsman. Besides the Allen ratcheting wrenchs which looked like maybe Gearwrench? all I know is there made in Taiwan.

Hi BigK600,
It looks like you have some information about Masterforce. I am interested in the Masterforce Heavy-Duty Adjustable Work Stand #240-0991. I can not find who makes this product. I am looking for other suppiers besides Menards. Any information on this? Thanks.

Menard's does have a strange assortment of tools. Lots of inexpensive junk mixed in with some better stuff like Bosch. It is strange that they have two low end in house brands. The Pratt-Read screwdrivers are nice for mid grade screwdrivers but I would pass on the rest of the Menard's brand tools.

On the subject of the Allen tools.....I have had great luck with them. Fair priced when on sale and better fit, feel and overall quality than C-man for similar price IMHO. Plus the sockets, wrenches, and ratchets are made in USA.

I have bought some of their Screwdrivers, rubber grip type. These screwdrivers are nice and strong. I have compared them to craftsman standard screwdrivers and they are a whole lot nicer. I broke two or three craftsman screwdrivers in the same day. However I have not broke these ones yet, have had them for four months now. Made in the USA. I wouldn't have bought them had they been made somewhere else.

I was in Menards tonight close to closing time and they were going through all the allen and gearwrench stuff and putting sale stickers on them all. I would like to try some of the pratt screwdrivers.

The Masterforce ratchets and sockets sure look pretty. I bought the blow molded 1/4, 3/8 1/2 set on sale last fall for maybe $40. as a car set. I have barely touched them , but they remind me of Benchtop Pro. I got tired of trying to grab the Pittsburgh $30 set on sale, always sold out.

I've seen Masterforce levels with "Made in Germany" at Menards recently.

No idea how long they've been doing that but I know the levels are similar to a Stabila brand (German company) level I've seen before.

masterforce tool boxes are rebadged montezumas some screwdrivers are western forge and oth hand tools are rebadged allen

Upon further inspection I agree with you that masterforce tool boxes boxes could be montezumas.

I don't think any of there screwdriver are western forge I know for sure most are Pratt-Read.

Allen tools are the same as Cman. Both are made by Danaher.

My wife works for Menards. She said they are going to discontinue the tool shop brand, it's junk. I have some Masterforce stuff, and so far, it's pretty decent. I have a Masterforce table saw and compound miter saw. I don't use them enough to justify buying big money name brands, but they seem really decent.

The "made In USA" sales flyer that ends today has Masterforce screwdrivers made in Shelton, CT.

Old thread, new question :)

Menards currently (through 12/05/2010) has the 41" Masterforce top & bottom combo for $688.11.

Rural King Supply has their 41" Remline top & bottom on sale only on Black Friday for 20% off, $640.00 ... but you have to go to one store for the bottom & another for the top, or take wife or girlfriend with you & have her buy one while you buy the other (one coupon per customer). Click here for info.

Lowes had their Kobalt stainless chests on sale through yesterday, but even on sale the price was $864.00, click here.

Which leaves either Rural King or Menards ... whadda you think ???

Where the tall corn grows!
apex seems to make the hard line sockets/ratchets/wrenches - packaging is nearly identical to the dwindling Allen stock. Screwdrivers are p&r for sure. for the money, the masterforce hardline stuff seems real decent, mostly made in USA too.

I know Fleet farm has some Remline boxes, but I dont know much about them.

A friend bought a 41" Masterforce bottom a couple of weeks ago and it's a very nice box. I like the dual slides on the Masterforce box in particular.

But it will probably boil down to you wanting a black box or a green box.

The sockets, ratchets & wrenches are Danaher same as Allen/Craftsman/Napa/others I'm forgetting tools. I THINK the larger stationary power tools are Delta, not 100% sure though but they look very similar.

Go with the RemLine if they are the ProSeries and have the roller drawers. I have an older RemLine with regular slides and its a great box, but I wish it had roller slides like the new ones. I don't care for the funky green color of the Masterforce box either.

I've had the Menards Mastercaft box for a couple years now. Great box, I store lots of bulk hardware in mine and it's held up great. I like the green color.

Those masterforces boxes are really really good quality. I cant believe they can make them that heavy duty for the price.

i had a set of remline pro boxes that i salvaged from the scrap cumpster, good quality construction for "cheap" toolboxes.

i was impressed

and i'm kinda a toolbox "snob" :dunno:

The sockets and wrenches are straight up allen with masterforce stamped on it. I would rated it one notch over craftsman, maybe close to SK. I have a couple allen tools, mostly replace missing craftsman tools. I bought mine at fleet farm, broke an adapter, need a reciet for replacement, menards said same thing. If you want your lifetime warranty , keep all your reciets forever.

I shop at Menard's a lot. The Tool Shop tools are cheap and cheap but a great warranty. I have been impressed with the quality of the Masterforce tools. I inquired about who made the circular saws, one was made by I think Bosch and the worm-drive I bought by someone else, but the worm drive is as good as any, I have abused it with cutting for rough carpentry and concrete. Warranty is great.

I was told that Menard's comes up with specifications for a tool and puts it out to bid. So each tool or type may be made by someone else.

For any lifetime warrenty tool I have never had to produce a receipt. If you pay with a credit card you can always look up your receipt at their computer Kiosk.

After Craftsman discontinued their tape measures, I was ecstatic to find that Menards was now stocking the same exact tape under their Tool Shop brand....I'm surprised it wasn't as a Masterforce.

Of course, soon after they started carrying them, Menards discontinued the Lever Lock one.........but that's OK because I now have a stockpile of them...should last me a lifetime!!!!

I like the Idea of masterforce. They shell the production out to some other company but they handle all the warranty. Kinda like craftsman but at Menards. I actually think Masterforce has a bigger USA made selection then Craftsman.

The poll is in. I bought 2k all of master forces power tools. And registered the spendy ones for my replacement plan. Just to let you guys know out their who makes them and that they are great tools if you take care of them. They are manufactured in the United States, Georgia to be exact. They are made by Sumec North America. You're welcome.
