Metal ceiling

I have done a bit of research here for using metal siding on the ceiling. One reason I started looking at this instead of drywall was I wanted something I could remove and re-install. There is a second floor above and all of my wiring is running through the joists. There are a few projects I know I want to do down the road that would require me getting in there for wiring but I just don't know where yet.

I have read a lot of the benefits people have listed, but this has not been one I have seen yet. Is it not as doable as I had hoped?

So I can delay the ceiling until all the other projects are done, or install something that I can remove a few pieces of later and reinstall. Acoustic tiles are out due to a number of reasons people have listed in other posts. (Wind, price, look)

The walls will be drywall, with an access panel above the electrical panel to gain access.

Thanks

I thought about doing it over my drywall because I don't want to sand and paint it.

I would think it would be possible to remove and replace. Personally I would run power to a large box in the second floor wall with what ever your requirements later on might be,several circuits, 220 etc. Then pull from there into the new space when you are ready. I am not sure about code or anything but I would not want to take the ceiling down. If you do.......try to place the overlap or start on the side that makes the most sense so you don't have to remove it all to get to it......

I'd go ahead and rough it in. I want to do the same thing in my shop. If you use 10' sheets then it'd be too much of a pain in the rear to take down and put back up. That's depending on how it's laid out.

Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks, I think I will do a combo of items suggested… Wait until I finish upstairs before doing downstairs and then still use metal for down the road for the un expected time knowing it will be a pita.

Will post pics in my build thread as I start getting things done.

My buddies shop is all metal, inside and out. He takes the garden hose to the walls once a year to clean it up! Works great and easy to install.
