What is everyone getting for price per square foot? Locally I can get white PBU 26 ga panel right above $1/sq ft. Is there anything cheaper then this? Was hoping to spend a bit less for the ceiling panel.

Got 29 gauge panels 3 months ago for like $1.70/foot from McElroy Metal.

Pricing just went up at the place here locally. Looks like right now regular R or U Panel $1.08 sqft for 26ga painted and $0.83 sqft for 26ga galvalume.

Now I have to figure out the gotchas doing electrical up there over this metal ceiling like: - can Romex lay along the metal or do I need to create a chase

Do you even really need to wire up there? I'll be running minimal EMT on the surface for 4-6 highbays from my rolling scaffolding. I have no interest in mucking around above the ceiling. My trusses are dainty and its 20' up.

I'm glad I discovered this thread. Never even thought about steel panels. I was planning on putting tongue and groove knotty pine on my ceiling since it's relatively cheep in my area and I was thinking that the steel would be not only expensive but heavy as well. After doing a quick check online I discovered that Lowes has the steel panels at about $1.00 a sq. ft. and the pine works out to about $2.00 a sq. ft. And the steel is actually lighter per sq. ft.!

If you have a menards near by they sell a pvc version that looks just like the steel and it is 1/2 the weight and is about the same price.

40x50 shop scissor trussed ceiling cost me about $1900 in 29ga white. I ran my emt below the ceiling for ease of access.

Well I've called about 7 different places in the Houston area trying to beat the PBU 26ga white panel at Metal Depot and I'm striking out.

Looks like that's gonna be cheapest in this area. Dang I wish we had Menards around here.
