Wow, they do have some nice sets that are complete (no missing):

- - - Williams 11014 - - 19 piece set 6mm to 24mm - - - - - - $ 111..90

- - - Williams 11015 - - 19 piece set Chrome 6mm to 24mm - - $ 149.80

- - - Williams 11016 - - 25 piece set Satin 6mm to 32mm - - - $ 198.91

- - - Williams 11017 - - 25 piece set Chrome 6mm to 32mm - - $ 277.22

Sorry, but that seems a bit expensive for imported set of wrenches.

I would look for:

SK
Wight
used Snap On
If the OP doesn't care about a warranty, Bonney with the Loc-Rite boxed end.

I am not a fan of Williams wrenches, the smaller wrenches' open ends spread and are (or were in my 15-17 YO wrench set) a softer steel than the Snap On.

I think that 15 pc sets would fill my needs. My DO wants:

Decent Taiwan or better
Real lifetime warrenty
no satin....full polish
comfy in hand
decent length
I'd like to be at $100 for both sets, but I do realize that is probably not going to happen. Over $200 is getting a little hard to sell to the better half.

How is the "real" world warrenty for Carlyle? I mean do I need a receict. Or do they bulk if it looks like abuse, etc.

WTH??

I'd suggest for the best mid-price wrenches would have to be Wright, S-K or for a bit larger price Blue-Point makes good wrenches. Also I saw some nice Proto wrenches on amazon. :dunno:

Try to find someone selling CM full polish Industrial. (either here or Ebay).

They're top quality Armstrong USA wrenches but you probably won't ever be able to warranty them if there's a problem.

I think you could get SAE and Metric for around $200. (either NOS or used)

Good on you ! If you move anywhere on the planet and have a problem(you wont) you can also warranty them.
Stanley-Proto will only be surpassed by Danaher-Apex. This isn't a bad thing.
The rest of these Yokels can't even maintain an inventory or website.

I'm sure glad everyone doesn't think like you. The world would be dominated by one monopoly in every sector of they were.

CM pro USA

If these are even being considered they will fit the bill. Ridiculous prices on Ebay, but if you have Sears Outlet stores by you hit them up and scrounge around. These sets can still be found and with a nice discount. MM sets are a little harder to come by but are still out there.

Carlye at Napa has a decent return policy as of now. Problem is you just never know with Napa. They could keep the Carlye line 50 years or drop it in 5.

I do like the thought of cm pro. What's mm? Also, is there a difference between the pros and industrial? I have seen mixed sets.

Just take it in to Napa. They're the only on who sells Carlyle. If they *****, go up the ladder.

The difference is essentially nothing. Industrial started getting used a few years ago when Sears started to drop the Professional line. As far as Pro and Industrial go it is pretty much a same church different pew kind of deal.

That bahco 13 piece set looks awesome. I'm looking at some black hawks but those are tempting. Any opinions? Also, has anybody used the blackhawk black oxide finish? I've seen mixed opinions on that. Thanks!

If you're worried about warranty I wouldn't go with with either of those.

Valid point, scratch what I said about CM Pro. The warranty is essentially useless since anything you find USA will more than likely be replaced with a chinese made variant with the same part#.

Another vote here for Carlyle. I was looking for a set of metric long-pattern, full-polish. I have been happy with the Carlyles.

Here is my experience for the one time I have had to use their warranty.
I have a extended 3/8" 90 tooth ratchet with the soft handle. Its my go to 3/8 ratchet day in and day out. I broke the guts out of on a hard pull. The hardest I have ever pulled on a 3/8" or maybe a 1/2" ratchet. It snapped and I called my son and told him to come by and pick it up and run it up to our local NAPA store. He was back 15 minutes later with a new one. No questions ask. Thats when it really hit me about how much I liked their stuff. The fact that I didnt have to wait a week for the truck to come by when I could run up town on my lunch break and swap stuff out.

Flame suit on

Imo, if Napa and Carlyle advertised more and had tool trucks, they'd put snap on out of business, or at least put a hurting to them

The Husky ratcheting wrenches are clearly made by Apex as are Gearwrench. I have wrenches from both and they are indistinguishable from each other except for the name stamping. Fascinating, we have people refusing to buy the same exact same tool for 1/4 the price of Gearwrench as it's "too cheap". I'll call the HD and tell them to raise it to $50 so you'll feel better.

Human nature is amazing.

Top set are the RP industrials, middle set is the polished and the third is the outlet stuff I mentioned. More than likely the Chinese set but the store by me says 3 sets on hand and is open till 10pm and is only 15 min away so will give it a shot. Got nothing better to do.

Never know you might find "needle in haystack" and uncover some NOS C-Man Pro full polish that are USA made !!! :D

These got snatched up pretty quick earlier this year when they hit the Sears Outlet locations.

Let us know how it turns out. ;)
