I called miller, they were a little interested. The guy that I talked with said that quantities like that would usually get drop shipped form miller directly. When I told him they were selling them for $600 to $700 free shipping he seemed a little confused. He took my name and number and said they may call me back.

I love this type of stuff.

Maybe the guy just needed a loan?

I've sent, and gotten two pretty quick response today. He says there should be movement on them by tomorrow evening, maybe tonight. So we'll see. I wasn't being harsh, just typical buyer stuff. What shipping service and when any shipping activity will happen.

I submitted a ticket to PayPal yesterday.

Not asking for a refund, just letting them know they should take a look. I'm hoping the 2% chance this is real comes true as I'd love a new Powermax, but I'd bet my left nut it's a scam.

I reported the plasma cutter as fraudulent. It would not let me give a description of the issue and that was as close as I could come to what is going on. I called PayPal and gave them the seller ID.

I'm not worried. Best case the welder shows up, worst case I get refunded by eBay. Absolute worst case I call American Express. Where's the risk?

I don't feel like I exposed myself to anything damaging or morally wrong by buying one of the welders. Not like I bought wrenches for super cheap from lowes because of a website issue or anything... Too soon?

Thanks for making all our card fees go up because you knowingly entered a scam.

There is almost no doubt this is a scam. Glad I went for the zoro 20% off deal instead. Bummer that people do this kind of thing. Sorry guys.

Miller wants the info so they can find out directly from the Canadian rep if this is legit. I think they are worried these could be stolen, I can't see how the fraud would really matter to them.

There are just a few small things that bother me about his sales. Maybe all sellers do this, but there is a lack of transparency in his responses to questions. His answers on shipping and fees and taking them across the border to avoid them. His talking about being able to get the Miller rebate deal, and then admitting that he had only old receipts from when he bought them. All just a little less than forthcoming.
Of course this is grey market, and that's the way they work.

I wonder if the standard Miller warranty would even be valid, since he is the end user who bought from an authorized dealer.

Too many questions and not enough clear answers coming from the seller.

But I'm waiting and watching.

I found a bunch as well. Not sure what you googled.
There's a net-shopping email address on this list.

Please post your search results.

There are also a lot of gmail, yahoo, and hotmail email addresses on that list. So going with you logic, that would mean that every gmail, yahoo, and hotmail paypal address is a scammer.

Knowingly? I made offers on the second listing on Monday. Nobody actually has hard evidence that this IS a scam. I'm still not convinced it is a scam honestly. I'll let the seller be innocent until proven guilty by Ebay rather than a gang of armchair archeologists.

Not trying to be stupid or argue, but how would me buying something and utilizing American Express' existing and advertised resources to refund my purchase make everyone's card fees go up? I've been a cardholder for years, never used their service for a refund and pay off my card monthly. I'd guess that I keep the card fees down, but maybe I am that ignorant.

Gmail is a domain we know is used by tens of millions of legitimate people for mail. Google "net-shopper.com" with quotes. You'll see every instance is a various scam. The domain has been owned by the same owners since the 90s.

I have a bit more info in that we deal with a lot of fraud with affiliate marketing, and the only instances of that in my database are fraud as well... not a single legitimate use.

It's net-shopping.com, not net-shopper.com. I googled it and did not see an overwhelming number of scam-related links in my opinion.

I think that was a little premature. You have absolutely no proof that it's fraudulent. If the seller is legit, reporting his stuff as fraudulent might screw this up for everyone. Everyone should just chill out and see what happens over the next day or two.

If he's legit it shouldn't impact anyone's order.

Granted it's not a firm fact, but the circumstancal evidence is pretty strong. The guys holding onto hope I understand, but this thing really looks like a scam.

When miller is curious I would think something is weird.

I'm sure its not normal for a random person to call in and say hey there is a guy on ebay selling welders for hundreds off retail either. I'm sure they thought that was weird.

Yes, but then miller had someone call me and asked for more specific info on the seller.

Google "net-shopping.com reviews" or "net-shopping.com scam".

Plenty of interesting reading, and it certainly wouldn't make me feel good. That domain is constantly used for scams, as you can find out from the various search results. Unlike Google, where anyone can get an email address on that domain, that wouldn't be the case with net-shopping.com. Best of luck to you.

If something seems too good to be true, it usually is. I'll gladly eat crow if you have a welder show up, but I'm pretty confident it ain't gonna happen. The sheer numbers of these has scam written all over it.

ETA: you could always spoof an address, so there's also the chance that net-shopping.com is legit, and this is a scam. Or...everything's cool and I'm just paranoid. [emoji6]

Sending them is easy as pie. I can spoof mine to say anything I want, but a quick check would show that it was spoofed. When receiving the emails, I would think spoofing becomes difficult. Especially if you are trying to get money to a paypal account.

I did not make a claim I could not back up. Just informed them that something looked fishy.

Just did my research on the seller and it smelled really funny. 100 sales in 48 hours, I be that is a world record. I guess if you guys want to buy the Brooklyn Bridge then have at it.
It's definitely fishy, I'm not disputing that.

Will paypal give me my money back?

For the Bridge, probably not, but for the welder yes. I just think loaning a scammer money and possibly making the cost of using paypal go up stinks.

This guy has sold well over 100k worth of goods in the last 48 hours. It is a perfect scam, people can't leave feedback until the item arrives. The weekend will delay things as well. Who knows how much money they will end up with in the end.

Honestly if this is a scam (most likely), I don't feel guilty at all for making a purchase. Ebay provides a money back guarantee, which would make it seem that they would have a lot of anti-fraud efforts in place otherwise they would lose their asses. They charge enough money to sell on there that you think they would have the resources to flag this one rather easily.

Having recently gone through a fraud case with eBay/PayPal on a Milwaukee Fuel set over $500 bucks, I can tell you I did get my money back. That same seller/scammer had 100% feedback and sold 5 of the same kits in the same day. From the time I paid to the time I got my money back was a little over 3 weeks. However, given the amount of money involved here for eBay/PayPal to potentially have to eat, I could see this dragging out for quite a bit longer. My recommendation would be if you don't have an actual tracking number with an appropriate weight description by the weekend, I would call eBay customer service. You can't open a case online until after the item's estimated arrival date, but if you talk to them they may investigate sooner. I'd be proactive and contact my credit card company as well to see what they recommend. Good luck.

I gotta admit...I find this a bit humorous.. how profitable would the scammer have been had it not been for the GJ/SlickDeals/Lemming Purchase Effect?

Wishing for the best for those of you who pulled the trigger..

Anyone have an actual tracking number yet? Has the seller stopped responding to emails?

I think these guys did it right, they hacked multiple accounts to use as buyers for the feedback, they did this over a long period of time so everything looks legit. Then they go in for the kill. If they just out of the blue started selling hundreds of high end items, ebay would have shut them down, they started slowly and then ramped it up.

Ebay makes it really difficult to see what is going on, you used to be able to see purchases and user IDs so you could tell what the person was buying.

I think the biggest hint to me was the feedback that this so called seller left.

That's what I was thinking, but if they hacked multiple accounts, you would think at least one would get reported, which would then lead Ebay on to all of the other users that were hacked by looking at purchase/feedback history.
