Interesting. I noticed he doesn't have anything for sale now. I wonder if ebay shut him down.

He closed the other auctions down before the negative feedback arrived. I think ebay is still not sure what is going on. I just hope they locked his paypal account at a minimum. The problem is, it could be drained all ready.

I'm almost positive that he had nothing for sale when his feedback was still visible.

My biggest fear is that people who used a paypal balance or directly from a bank account may not get all the money back. They usually claw it back from the seller, but if the well is dry…….

Years ago I had that happen and I did not get hardly any money back, paypal told me the case was closed and that was it.

Still showing 70lbs.

I'll be able to call FedEx in about two hours and see if I can pick it up tomorrow.

That was what I said. It was a while ago, but I do not think it is guaranteed that you get all of your money back.

That's BS!

From now on, i'll use visa through PP. Back in 04 i had a problem with PP and visa got my money back and told pp to pound sand.

I see no point in contacting eBay or PayPal yet, nothing has been delivered or not delivered.

What would you even say?

"Hello, this is gumshoe Joe and from my recliner in Nebraska I sense trouble afoot in Canadialand. No crime has been commited as of yet, but I think you should investigate someone over something I'm not party to."

It appears that ebay/paypal will refund your money on "virtually all items" (no definition of that) in some cases you have to pay return shipping. I think if they don't step up on this one, there will be a lot of unhappy customers.

If the numbers are correct it could be close to $200k but I think there are several shill bidders involved as well, that is why they had so much positive feedback.

That is almost exactly what I told them.

To an experienced ebay seller/buyer there was obviously something off about this.

I would bring this up as well. I would also ask them to put the feedback to public.

Probably firewood or bags of dirt.

It's going to be good. If it's a welder, it will be incredible. If it's dirt, rocks, or whatever, it will also be incredible.

If it is a scam, we need to Wenzel him.

Just doin' my part to keep the thread entertaining. :)

In other news I talked to FedEx. If I have them "hold it," they don't just hold it at the giant distribution hub that's near me, they send it off to a customer center to hold for pick up there, and that could take just as long or longer. But there's a chance they will even deliver it to me tomorrow anyway. So, we will see...

My money, quite literally, is on a laundering operation.* In which case we get our welders.

I don't think money laundering works like that. Two people working together would need to sell a cheap item for a lot of money. You don't launder money by sending someone a really expensive welder at half price.

If you get a welder it will either be part of the scam to prolong things or stolen.

A real long shot would be that this is legit and there has been an issue with a few welders, but that is looking so unlikely right now.

Mine arrived at a Fedex facility in Philadelphia at 5:55 am last night. At 6:47 it said it's on FedEx vehicle for delivery, scheduled for delivery next business day. I called, and because I'm a residence, that means I will not get it delivered until Monday. Of course, I will not be home on Monday and direct signature is required. I asked if I could pick it up right now to put an end to this saga, but they said that's impossible because it's "in transit." It's probably just sitting on a truck at the facility, and since that particular facility is closed, there's nothing I can do.

You gotta figure this guy is being deluged with emails because it seems too good to be true. Plus its Saturday. maybe he is taking the day off

Since I won't be home on Monday and direct signature is required, I redirected it to a 24 hour Fedex facility near my house. They guaranteed that it will be there Monday, and I guarantee that I will be there on Monday to pick it up as soon I can. This will be over, for me, sometime on Monday.

Probably not "taking Saturday off" considering he was accepting offers all throughout the day and night the whole week.

One way or the other I think, for you Er, it's just beginning!!!

Either you're epicly screwed and have to spend a month chasing Paypal and eBay to get your money back, or you end up with a Hypertherm and a 211 with which you'll be knocking out projects and fixes for years to come!
