The reason for the police report is to make sure YOU are not part of the fraud. File a false report... it becomes a more serious crime. It's also why insurance claims require a police report.

You should be golden with ebay.

Makes perfect sense. I apologized to the officer for having to take the time to write up a report on it since they will be doing nothing with it, but he was really nice about it.

I'm guessing the early refunds were dispersed from however much was recovered from the seller's paypal account... and now they're going out of pocket... which is why they're hassling you guys.

Did those of you that are having to wait on refunds actually take delivery? I don't know if it matters, but I refused delivery and once they could verify that on the Fedex website, they processed my refund.

Sorry to hear that. I got a real tracking number and an envelope was brought to my office.

Those of you that got your case escalated- what are you telling Paypal? I have a case in progress, but it looks like they're sending it through the normal procedural channels.

I had filed a claim with both eBay and PayPal, PayPal says I have to wait the 10 days which will be up on Sunday and I'll get my money back. EBay is a totally different story, when they finally escalated my case they sided with the seller because there was a tracking number and a delivery. They even removed my negative feed back, even though no-one can read it. I talked to them and told them if they had carefully reviewed it they would have seen that my 70lb package weighed a mere 1.5lbs And was to small to contain a plasma cutter and if they'd revue the sellers account they would see the scam going on. They told me to contact the seller and return my glorious baking rack for the proper item, lol. I told them no and PayPal was taking care of my claim, the eBay money back guarantee its a scam in itself.

Drama moveth forward. I am still wondering if everyone is going to get all their money back. I bet the scammer's paypal account has run dry and we may see some unhappy people.

Refunds don't come from the scammer's account anymore. That was old days Paypal. Now it treats it like a credit card and eBay/Paypal will ultimately backup the sale.

Cliff notes of my experience:
June 9th - "purchased" miller 211
June 15th - received generic battleship board game
June 15th - started "return request" as directed by paypal/ebay phone call
June 15th - found this thread
June 30th - called back to escalate the case (had to wait 3 complete business days)
July 2nd - money has been refunded to my CC

After waiting 72 hours and not hearing anything from eBay I decided to call back.
I quickly got talking with an agent who looked over the notes and then informed me that it was a high dollar item ( I got dinged for $1200 US for the Plasma cutter) and his department wasn't authorized for any thing over $750. I was then put on hold for a few minutes and transferred to the correct department. The agent then looked over the notes, put me on hold for a few minutes and then informed me that she was closing the case, issuing a refund and a repayment should show up in my PayPal account within 48 hours, maybe a bit longer because of the holiday. I also got a reference # for the conversation just in case things don't work out.

If you got taken for more than $750, and are having difficulty getting a refund you may want to make sure you are speaking with the right department.
When I got off the phone after 13 minutes an email immediately showed up in my eBay messages showing that the case was opened July 3 (today) and not June 30 when I called three days ago. The email also stated they would be making a decision within 48 hours. Hopefully no wires will get crossed this time with the communications and things will be settled by next week. I will update when something happens. Good luck with everyone else working on their refunds. I see gillica's negative feedback is up to 78 today! Have a good 4th of July to my southern neighbours. (yep, thats how we spell it in Canada:)

I couldn't let a scam get the best of me. I ordered this the day after I started the eBay claim. It came in the same day I got my refund. It's my first welder and thus had to start off with a cart.

That cart is a hot setup. I may have to borrow the idea.

I'd surely make a phone call to PayPal to get it resolved. There's enough past practice for them to pay out on this scam.

There's a local shop in Calgary Alberta selling a Weldking Mag 255 for 715cdn after tax out the door, if any is interested send me a PM and I'll send you the details. Its a chinese welder they brought in for industrial use and well it wasn't up to that. Think of it as a 180amp quality unit upsized to a 250 amp output machine.

The seller wasn't such a bad guy:) Look what he sent me today via PayPal.

I purchased on June 13. I started my return request with eBay on June 23. I also started a return request with PayPal on June 27. My full refund appears to have happened today(July 8) via PayPal. It will probably take a day or so to show up on my card. Good luck to everyone else working on a refund.

Well guys it's my first day joining the forum, and I had seen the Millermatic 211 add on E-bay myself, but was a little nervous regarding possible warranty issues. I managed to plod through all the posts (red eyes to prove it).

I hope everybody involved gets made whole.

Take a hike bud, no scam, nothing in it for me, just trying to pass along useful info to fellow garage gear heads. I have a few review threads up in a few places about the machine, call the shop for yourself or check the BBB, or just pull your head out of your *** and realize not everyone is out to screw to people. I just about fell for this miller Ebay scam (submitted a few offers) as well and came across this deal locally (after reading this thread and deciding to see what was available locally) and decided to bite the bullet. Like I said initially the machine was brought in for the industrial fab shops in the area, but the machine isn't built for that environment, its an automotive shop/ home garage style of machine.

Here's the shop:

http://www.kristian.ca/

here's the flyer:

http://media.wix.com/ugd/778b26_d75c3a57a3854fb49ebc7046c64a4e00.pdf

Now use your half a brain cell and figure if its worth it for you. If anyone does decide to bite, when you call ask to talk to Wayne (shop manager) about it. I'm not affiliated with this place what so ever, but have done business with them on an industrial shop level for years.

BTW here's my welder, I'll create a review thread as an FYI for everyone.

Yeah, I got my refund email on the...14th and it was in my bank a day or two later. So now I'm about to do what I should have done from the beginning and order a 211 from someplace with free shipping and flip the spoolgun.

Is this another Scam? Scuffed box pic looks familiar, just a different angle. Also from Canada and accepting offers? I took a shot last round and got an empty envelope, but a full refund of my $1000 from PayPal.

Who knows. Wouldn't catch me spending that kind of money for something on eBay though. What does it normally sell for?

Ships from "A, Canada". Where is "A"

Full price, only one unit, no free shipping... What makes you think that would be a scam?

It's $1650 with free shipping from a reputable US shop, why would you bother with eBay for more?
