Continued work on the side and foot boards today.

Cut 1x8 boards and 2x4 feet to size, sanded and prepped for stain.
IMG_6423.jpg

Legs cut for the foot/side boards.
Wife didn't want the look of 2x4's for the legs and neither did I. I put a slight angle to them.
IMG_6422.jpg

Wife applied Dark Walnut stain to all pieces-parts. ;)
IMG_6425.jpg

IMG_6424.jpg

Hard to tell but the first application of Matt Finish was applied here.
After the recommended drying time, a second application of finish was done.

IMG_6427.jpg

We'll remove the metal bedframe from the headboard tomorrow morning and carry it into the shop for a fit test of the boards and feet, then carry all pieces back into the bedroom for final assembly.

I'll post pic of the final product.

You can see the board on my side of the bed. Looks good to me. Wife decided the boards aren't tall enough.
They are 1X8's. She would like to have them a bit taller, so I drove down to the hardware store and brought home 1x10's.
IMG_6465.jpg

I made another set of side boards late yesterday. They were cut to size, prepped, sanded, cleaned, stained and two coats of a clear Matt finish applied.
IMG_6471.jpg

I'll try to find time today, to make the footboard.

Got the foot and side footboards installed yesterday morning. The wife is now happy(er).(y)
IMG_6488.jpg

Now she wants to change the bed comforter and rug. And also replace the picture thinky over the headboard with pictures she bought during the week. She's also thinking of changing the curtain, as she says these may not match whatever color/pattern comforter and rug she buys. That's ok with me because I just bought a new gas grill. :)
*******

The new grill was delivered yesterday mid-morning.

After the bed boards were installed, I went in the shop to begin assembly on the new gas grill. It's a Propane/Natural Gass model. With it, I ordered the NG kit and a quality grill cover.
IMG_6478.jpg

Being I'm recovering after my back problem, and not supposed to be do any strenuous lifting, wife helped the delivery driver unload the grill. It's fairly heavy.

I began assembling the light parts and the wife later walked over to help me set the actual cooking section onto the cabinet. I took my time, reading the instructions as I went, which is something I usually never do, unless I run into a problem. ;) The previous grill had 2 wheels. This one has 4 casters, which I like better.
I got ~10 years out of the previous grill and expecting the same or more out of this one.

Wouldn’t a guy know. After the pain in my back subsides, my left wrist begins giving problems.
I saw the Dr. back in Oct. 23 for Tendinitis. After taking prescribed meds it never improved. Then when the back began to hurt, the pain meds made me forget about my wrist.
This morning, Dr. took X-rays to see what was up, then gave me an injection is corticosteroids. Fingers crossed that will work.

Dang!! Almost a week since I posted here.
The Tendinitis in my left wrist has subsided a bit. (y)

Yesterday in the woodworking/craft room of the shop, I removed the flip-up door cabinet and installed a 32" TV in its place.
IMG_6522.jpg

I then mounted the flip-up door cabinet on the other end of the room.
IMG_6523.jpg

After that was done, I move on to another project.

The rear window for the camper top arrived today. I did some measuring and cut a big hole in the back side. Painter's tape was applied to prevent scratches while the hole was cut.
IMG_6517.jpg

I ran short on Butyl tape, so I parked it in the shop for tonight. Going to pick up another roll tomorrow, then install the window.

Back to working on the shop.

I cut a few leftovers of 2" x 1/4" flat bar to make corner brackets for the sliding door at the woodworking/craft room.
IMG_6567.jpg

Welded and drilled attaching screw holes.
IMG_6568.jpg

Framed door and attached a few repurposed fence boards.
Hung it onto the rail for a test fit. It rolls smoothly as expected.

I ripped a board to fill the open space but didn't snap a pic.
Haven't decided whether to paint or stain it when complete.

IMG_6625.jpg

I still need to add more repurposed boards to the framing and trim it out for a glass.

Took a break from the shop build to replace the choke cable on the 2008 Kawasaki Mule. After ~16 years, it gave up the ghost.
I ordered the cable on-line and it arrived in two days.
IMG_6662.jpg

The retaining screws would not budge, so I drilled them out.
IMG_6663.jpg

I was able to remove the channel cover and wash out the dirt that had built up over the years.
IMG_6664.jpg

After running the new cable in the channel, I installed the cover and a few temporary hex head crews until I can pick up the correct hardware next week.

Looking great so far. Once the doors and window are done, what's next on the agenda?
Sorry I'm late to respond to your question. Wife and I have been traveling.

I will be building an awning for the north door entrance. I have some of the material on hand and will need a bit more. Thinking I'll wait until the temps have dropped a bit. :)

I began building the north door awning framework last week.

Below is a rough sketch of how the 6' deep X 12' wide awning will be attached to the shop's vertical uprights.
Once the awning framework is complete, it will be lifted and attached to the shop at hinged point 1.
The frame (with sheet metal roofing attached) will then be swung upward and attached to the braces at hinged points 2 and 3.
Awning Frame.png

2"X2" square tubing is utilized for the framing.
IMG_7450.jpg

Wife assisted me with placing the framework onto sawhorses.
I was then able to weld a cross tubing.
IMG_7453.jpg

Next, I made a few tabs for the mounting points. Below are 6 of the 14 tabs in total needed.
IMG_7664.jpg

I'll drill holes in the shop's vertical post, then run the thread part of the eyebolt through the holes. Washers and nuts will be snugged into place. Final tightening will be done once the awning is in its raised position.
IMG_7667.jpg

The tabs will be weld to the awning framework as so.
IMG_7666.jpg

Below are caps I installed at the ends of the framing.
That should keep the critters out. ;)

Last week, I welded the tabs for the last 2 connection point for the awning frame braces. Then, I painted the framework.
zIMG_0124.jpg
The local sheet metal dealer called a while ago to tell me the custom flashing was read for pick up. :) I'll do that sometime this afternoon.

This morning, I replaced the sliding door brush type seal with standard garage seals. The brush type seals were allowing some rainwater to seep into the shop.
IMG_0164.jpg

The garage door seal's lip rest against the outer vertical upright of the sliding doorframe.
With this upgrade and the addition of the awning, I should not have a rainwater issue.

That is a mandatory seal up here in Mn

Yesterday, using a tractor with loader, bucket and forks to lift the awning in place and attach to the eyebolts that run through the shop's frame.
north awning2.jpg

Once it was attached (bolted to the eyebolts), I swung it upward using the loader forks and let it rest on a 10' ladder.
north awning1.jpg

I built one horizontal brace last week and built another today. They were then primed and painted.

Plans are to install the braces tomorrow. :)

I began building one of the doors for the lean-to a couple days ago.
The door frame is 2"x4" treated pine. I utilized a Kreg Jig and glued & screwed it all.
IMG_0441.jpg

The door's board & bat cladding is treated pine boards.
IMG_0442.jpg

Today, I completed the board & bat cladding. Yes, it's heavy. ;)
I'll try to hang it tomorrow.
Because of the treating, I'll allow it to age a bit before priming and painting.

I was given this old 100-lb. FISHER anvil a few days ago.
I felt bad about it so I gave the person $50. I still feel bad, but not as bad. ;)
IMG_1439.jpg

IMG_1442.jpg

I mounted it to a section of Oak tree trunk.
I then began wire-brushing it and dressing the Horn, as it was the easiest to work with.
IMG_1455.jpg

The Horn came out fairly well but the Face will need some work, as someone tried building it up with welding.

We experienced a strong wind storm a few weeks back. The lean-to door that I installed a while back didn't have a back-stop. The winds blew the door inside and damaged the door frame.

IMG_0452.jpg

I removed the door for repair, priming and painting, then re-installed it.
This time, I weld 2 back stops to the lean-to frame so it'll set in the closed position.

During the past 12 months, I've been rearranging things at the cut/fab/weld area.

Wall space was limited in this are because of a sliding door. For more storage, I built a "False-Wall" to stand 6" from the shop's interior wall. The sliding door fits nicely between the shop wall and false wall.
The wall measures 6' in width and 10' in height. This give me plenty of room for metal working tools and supplies. This was started last January, 2025.

Below is the test fitting with only the feet attached. ↓ Here, the wall is primed.
IMG_0889.jpg

I then took the wall down for daughter to paint a figure onto it. (March 2025)
At this time, I built the upper attaching wall brackets.
IMG_1340.jpeg

Once her work was done, I reinstalled the wall.

Work on this and other projects were slowed, as I injured my right shoulder in February. A complete tear of 2 tendons at the rotator cuff; and partial tear of 2 more. I had fair use of my right arm after a Corticosteroid Injection. (y) ------ Surgery was done in early May. 2025. Recovery and physical therapy took about 4 months.

IMG_1368.jpeg

A month or so ago, I added a section of tubing for the welder to have something to do. ;)
I then added angular red/yellow/black stripping to break up the look.
IMG_3072.jpeg

Holder for grinders and tools. ↓ Shelving for related items.
IMG_3064.jpeg

Steel angle-iron, for a place to hold magnets and magnetic items was installed.
IMG_3065.jpeg

Lower cabinets were also added.
IMG_3061.jpeg

Lower cabinets are for storing the TIG and Plasma cutter.
Top of the cabinets act as a shelf. :)
IMG_3063.jpeg

A head-on pic. ↓
I'm still tweaking space on the wall for other tools and related items.
