Milwaukee High Torque Impact Hesitates

3 months ago I bought a 2767 (M18 high torque), regardless of battery size, 5Ah or 9Ah, the impact hesitates when first squeezing the trigger. After a couple soft quick hits it finally goes full power. It seems to have all of the power of my old one once it starts actually hitting but the lead up time is annoying. The Cornwell guy I bought it from thought it was a feature to make the impact last compared to hitting hard right away. Seemed pointless to me but hey seems like a lot of company decisions are when it comes to gimmicks, I mean features. Torque test channel just had a video on the newer model issues and this was mentioned. So now I'm guessing this is actually a manufacturing issue.

Alas it seems like Milwaukees time as the leader is causing quality issues, at least at my shop, coworkers 1/4 fuel ratchet has been rebuilt 3 times this year for breaking the pawl pin in the head.

Yep that's the video. Also if you search for my issue there are several videos of people having the same issue.

Not sure of the model number, I'm going to look Monday and if it's a B I'm probably going to insist on a refund from Milwaukee or Cornwell.

Firgures Milwaukee would **** the bed right when they release the whole line of yard tools I've been waiting for.

Just bought one of these last week. Very concerned. I use these at the track to pull wheels off the car and at the shop to break loose resistant suspension parts.

Gotta have reliability at the track. I hope Milwaukee makes this right.

As a Milwaukee man I don't care if they make it right they should have never made it wrong to begin with. I've got DeWalt, Metabo, Makita and Bosch systems and this ridiculous situation is causing me to think hard about buying any more Milwaukee tools. THIS SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED! That's the bottom line.

Is it a 2767B model? if yes, return it to point of purchase for a refund.
Problem is that guys have returned them only to get another with the same defect. On the TTC video there was one guy who returned something like 6 (!) of them, all defective. Then there is the fact that the planetary section has been cheapened (imho) over the old one.

I got one of these myself within the last month from HD. I dont think I can find the receipt. Im pretty pissed off TBH.

Pretty disappointing to hear. I bought a 2767 back in July after hearing how great they are and being a bit underwhelmed with my equivalent Dewalt. Seems like I have a B model and I want to say it has had the hesitation issue as well. I only really have used it to save time when doing a large number of fasteners. Usually I prefer my 24" Matco 1/2 ratchet or jump up to 3/4 drive since the Milwaukee (like the Dewalt it replaced) has been hit or miss when it comes to breaking tight stuff loose. I'll be interested to see what Milwaukee does about this.

Sad to see this from a pretty-much industry standard 2767. I bought mine back in 2018 and have the H96A series and is extremely happy with it. Milwaukee replaced it with the revised planetary gear assembly in the H96B.

HD should be able to pull up the receipt if purchased with a credit card.

Can they do that for a non-HD credit card?
I don't have a HD credit card but have a pro account and I can look up any purchase in the app or online.

Also, not related to the pro account, if you purchase something with a credit card at HD and go to return it, they don't need a receipt if you want to put the balance back on the same card you purchased it with. That seems to suggest they have the ability.

Their new mower and blower are almost point-for-point copies of Makita stuff, but lower build quality and more expensive.

Team Teal awaits!

Was just reading about this yesterday - https://toolguyd.com/milwaukees-m18-fuel-2767-impact-wrench-probems

They may have been trying to implement a "soft start" which eases starting torque and current so is easier on the motor windings and gears, but the behavior shown in that video is not how it should work, obviously. German Metabo (non-HPT) started doing this with their 1/2" wrenches about 5 years ago, it's obnoxious when driving many small fasteners in quick succession but at most it's a 1/2 second lag, usually less.

Looked today and I have the A model. Now I don't know what to do. Send it in for repair, and it's warrantied; I will probably get the B model. If they just fix the trigger great, but Milwaukee never communicates if they're doing a warranty I just get the replacement in the mail.

I don't think they'd add a feature with no announcement, etc. I think this is a pure design-update gone wrong. Pretty unfortunate...

If it's something you use constantly, I'd return it and grab any of several good competitors unless you can find an "A" unit at HD (seems unlikely at this point). If you have some flexibility and want to stay fully on M18/MW, warranty it. You're likely to get another B, but you've got nearly the full warranty term and I believe Milwaukee will get their **** together. It will take months though.

Depending on what you're doing, you also might consider returning it and getting the Gen2 Mid Torque. Mine has been great. I don't work on big rigs and don't deal with much in the way of rust, but it has been entirely fine with anything I've thrown at it. It's also far smaller and lighter than the 2767.
