I think I want to buy a Milwaukee impact wrench. They have so many options!
I have a couple projects coming up. Looks like now I have to pull a transmission and do it somewhere away from my house and my compressor.
I also will be pulling an engine and trans out of another truck and swapping that into my Jeep, but that will be done in my garage. So I am thinking about getting a Milwaukee impact. My plan was to buy an Astro 3/8" stubby and another 1/2" impact to use at home but having to do a transmission R&R away is changing my needs a little.
Right now I only have a set of 10(?)-19mm 1/2" deep impact sockets. So I need more of those either way.
What I am looking at is the 2554-20 3/8" stubby or 2555-20 1/2" stubby. Both are M12 and listed as 250ft/lbs.
Looking at my needs would one be better than the other? Or is there another Milwaukee model that might be better based on the above?
I have both M12 and M18 batteries and chargers so no need to worry about battery systems.
Any thoughts appreciated!!

You might want to check the torque values on the fasteners you are removing and account for any seized fasteners. I can see the M12 stubbies running into potential problems if you attach a extension, a swivel, and a socket and try zapping off bell housing bolts. The M12 stubby should be fine as long as you don't need to use any swivels, extensions, and nothing is seized.

I have an M12 stubby in 3/8 that is really impressive and I would buy again. It's been some of the best money I've spent on tools. I used mine extensively doing work on an E30 BMW and it made short work of drive shaft bolts, engine/transmission mounts, intake/exhaust manifold nuts, and bell housing bolts. It's seriously great with swivel sockets (Sunex makes an affordable set) and I've had no issues using it with various extensions and swivel sockets.

It's done everything I've needed for engine/transmission work. It can take of lug bolts too but drains the battery faster so I use the 1/2" mid torque for that and other suspension components.

Seeing that you already have 1/2" metric impacts (and if those are the sockets your needing for the job) economic choices might well say get the Stubby with a 1/2" anvil

Personally I did go the other way with my Stubby purchase and chose 3/8" figuring using 1/2" step up adapter would meet my needs when necessary.

They are a little powerhouse, though obviously not a mid torque I was mildly surprised to say the least with the performance when I got finally one

3/8 stubby has plenty of power. I use all the stubbys extensively. The 1/2 mid torque is the 1/2 gun I would want.

Make sure you use at least the 4.0 or higher M12/M18 batteries

I would also look into a sunex or grey pneumatic master 3/8 impact set. They are relatively cheap and excellent sockets.

My understanding is you get some benefit from the additional mass of the 1/2" anvil and sockets, so if you want the stubby and you think the sockets would fit in the tight spaces often needed to pull a ******, I'd go 1/2" on the stubby (you can always step it down to 3/8" bits if you need to. That little bit might help if you have rust/etc. and/or have to use extensions.

I have both the Stubby and the FUEL Mid-Torque (both 1/2" - I already had 1/2" and 1/4" impact sets and didn't want a third set). I freakin' love the Stubby and reach for it first (I use the XC 6.0 battery), but if i had to have just one, I'd probably get the mid.
