The LED ***** as well,
I have the m18 flash light and the octagonal flood light and i'd go with the flood. The lantern is also great, smaller and lighter than the flood light and more handy to hang too but not quite as bright.

Well that *****. I mean I'm not looking for something insane bright but it would be nice to see what I'm trying to do.

Maybe I'll buy it at home cheapo and and take it back if I don't like it

What are you planning to use it for? We could probably recommend the best light for the job if we knew the application.

Just general use really. Automotive, construction, grab and go, that sorta thing. I have many other super bright led and xenon lights otherwise

Good alternative..

Prob the best general purpose light is the m18 stick light (for general purpose). I have most of them. The m18 lantern is also good, but not if its gonna get knocked around.. I just bought mine off eBay to use at work (I'll get reimbursed for it). Think I'm gonna have to protect it with a sock in the truck.

My experience too! Like the lightweight M12 as well.

The M18 LED might be worth it. I might have to spring for it and the drop light style one someone else linked too.

There's also this big mamma-jamma:

You either get a 5.0XC Battery to use or you can try to flip it on eBay / Craigslist to bring the cost of the light down. It's a pretty cool light. It has handles on the top you could loop a bit of wire through to hang it or in my case, I've got Caliper hangers for doing brakes that work to convert it into a hanging light.

I can promise you this much - the reg m18 led light is NOT in the same league of the m18 stick light.. The regular light is a glorified flashlight. It illuminates a very small area. The m18 stick light is more like a flood light. It projects a very bright, very even light that has no light or dark spots.. If you search on the Milwaukee thread, SOMEWHERE there are pictures that someone posted comparing most of the lights to each other.. There is a reason why the regular m18 light is the cheapest one you can buy, and was part of a promo package that was sold with a battery for as low as $49 when they went on clearance 2 years ago. It's it a good flashlight? Yes.. Worklight? No..

I think the only Milwaukee light I don't own is the newer dual powered floodlight. Otherwise I think I have every other model.

Well, for all around use it should be fine I guess. Like I said, the flood type stick light is only so useful to me. Great for underhood work but awful for using in the house or other such work.

IDK I can buy both and see which I like I suppose.

I have the regular M18 LED light at work. Our shop is well lighted, it's great when I need a little extra light. It runs a long time.

At home I have the M18 stick light. It's superb when working on the car, as a light for the drill press or other equipment or for outdoor use. If it had been available when I bought the other one, I'd have one at work also.

I went for this one this week. A local retailer was doing $150 for the light and 3.0 battery. I used it this weekend to strip some varnish off the walls in a stairwell and it was awesome. I ran it full tilt with a 4.0 battery and the runtime was just longer than my recharge time so two bats kept me in good light. I hung it on screws on the wall opposite my work and the light was exceptional for seeing the remnants of the varnish on the paneling.

I'd go with this one again any day and might buy a spare just to get an extra battery.

Well I found an LED flashlight on ebay for cheap (new) so I figured Id take a chance. I dont need the area light the giant halogen type sized light they sell nor a florescent type setup. I suppose for the price I paid I dont care if it isnt perfect lol.. I think someone forgot a zero on the price is all Im gonna say.
