Are these discounts considered rare / great deals for these items?

M12 Right angle impact, 3/8 inch, with CP HO 2.5 Battery: $179

M12 Extended ratchet, 3/8 inch, with CP HO 2.5 Battery: $205

I don't "need" either, and currently only own M18 tools. This might push me over the edge.

Thanks.

Mike
Yes good deals for these. The extended length ratchet is a game changer. I dont have the impact to say one way or another. But good pricing for what they normally go for.

I am tempted to get the 3/8 extended ratchet. I have been looking for a deal on the regular length 2567 for a while. This might even be better.

The magical $10/1AH battery ratio is up again at HD

Except it's out of stock, and is part of the Deal of the Day, so unfortunately won't be able to order.
If it was earlier in the day, there is a chance they get more stock available, but at this late hour.

Personally I am waiting for the 6ah forge to start being discounted. I have one and compared to the 6AH HO its lighter and delivers more power. Its perfect for using on my string trimmer for quick cleanup around the house. Much lighter.

My bad. I had literally ordered it 10 mins before I posted this!

There were 2300+ units when I ordered, that went real quick.

The MKEFLASH promo code is generic (not one-time use) so it WILL work with cashback. Only account specific (one-time use) codes do not work with cashback.

M12 Fuel 1/4” hex impact with 2ah battery and charger kit on sale for $99 at HD. Seems like a great deal.

I’d be upgrading from an old old Skil dual power source 12v power drill whose battery doesn’t hold a charge for very long (a new battery can be bought? But why bother).

Is a Surge really that much better for another $90? (No picture)

Or it seems like this $200 kit that adds a 2.5ah battery and 1/2” hammer drill would be a great deal, but I honestly don’t do THAT much work with drills beyond basic home owner (not building anything from scratch) stuff.

Any other deals I should consider?

The surge is much quieter. Hd has the bare surge and a 2.5 battery for $150. Well worth it in my opinion. I sold all my impact drivers and only have m12 and m18 surges now. If you are new to Milwaukee ask your friends for a m12 charger. They probably have one to give you. I have 3-4 I’d give away for free. You can’t sell them.

So for another $90 including tax, I can get the M12 Surge, 2 x 2ah batteries and charger at HD for $180 plus tax.

The one without a charger and only one battery for $150 is out of stock.

So.. sounds like its worth it for a non-pro to get a Surge and extra battery for almost double the cost.

Still pondering.

I have both and I always reach for the surge first. Is it worth the extra dough, if I'm being objective, probably not.

It makes a big difference if you have good hearing. I have to wear hearing protection if I use the regular impact past like 3 fasteners. With the surge I can drive a fair amount of fasteners before it starts to bother me.

I have the surge and regular and prefer the regular over the surge. Better control with the regular which to me is more important than noise

Does anyone happen to know of a deal on the M12 nibbler? I procrastinated and didn’t buy it when there was a deal at Home Depot.

lol, yeah, trying desperately to not make smart *** comments lmfao.
Louder is louder, the surge takes away some of the noise. For those of us with tinnitus any reduction is welcome. For someone in the trades consistently using the same tool for hours per day the some long term hearing damage is guaranteed, less noise can reduce the damage.

I have been eyeing the Milwaukee 2460 Rotary tool as my dremel corded is failing. Then along comes the brushless 2525 rotary tool and I have been hoping for a sale but its too new.

Being a tool snob and always going Fuel if I can, will the brushed version leave me wishing I had paid more for the brushless? I have seen the complaints about low rpm shuddering, but I never use mine at less than half speed.

As I wrote in my original post, I agree the surge is worthwhile for those with tinnitus or other hearing issues and those who work with the impact every day. But for the DIYer with no hearing problems — like me and probably most of us here, the added cost is unnecessary and the added cost could be spent on more tools, put in a retirement fund, buried in a jar in the backyard, etc.
Technically anyone can benefit from a quieter tool. Hearing loss (damage) is cumulative, so any reduction in noise is good. That said, I wear hearing protection every time I use my tools. This comes from years of not protecting mine and regretting the outcome.

My brushed version has failed 3 times with light use. Id either pony up for the brushless or wait for a sale.

Thanks for everybody’s input. For my basic needs, not heavy duty, not frequent, not anything than a few minutes at a time, it sounds like the regular Fuel will be more than adequate.

I have no doubt the Surge would be better from a noise and smoothness perspective, but cost is a factor for me. I’ve gotten by with an old Skil dual source drill.. so the regular Fuel will be a huge upgrade.

I know this thread is getting a little off track, but it reminds me of a good friend of mine that was a self employed auto mechanic working out of his home the last 45 years. It seems that every time I drove up to his home, I could hear him using his pneumatic impact In the garage. I always wondered how his neighbors felt about the noise, but seems they were okay with it, since he did a lot of auto repairs for them also. Anyway, I know comparing pneumatic and battery impacts isn’t apples to apples, but my friend was wearing hearing aids in both ears by his mid-sixties, and even then it was hard having a conversation with him at times. Granted, he was a full time mechanic, and not just DIY, but hearing is precious and should be taken seriously. Anything that helps reduce eventually hearing loss is worth the extra expense in my book.
