Despite my rant in the addiction thread about holding off to buy Forge batteries I just bought some (at under $10 per amp hour!!!). In continuing to break my Milwaukee drought, I just managed to spend $400 at Acme to take advantage of the stack and save coupon. So you guys managed to hurt my wallet.

I was going to buy that packout dust separator on preorder, but no go with the stacksave.

Thanks for pointing that out. I thought it was a flat $25 off, I didn’t read the rest of it. Looking at this shopping cart, lots of batteries for short money and the M18 hatchet. I need to see about selling some of my existing batteries, several new in package.

Am debating going back for more. Hatchet comes out at $155ish with an 8.0 Forge @ $10 per amp hour. Do I really need both the hatchet and the top handle saw?

Unfortunately most of the other stuff I want is not on a double stackable sale. M18 fuel fan, hedge trimmer, are ok deals with stacksave.

hmmm this might be a good way to get a high torque. ~$160ish when factoring in batteries bag and charger. Definitely even better than the HD special buy deal at $190ish.

It looks like people are getting orders cancelled but I picked up a bunch of pack out drawers and toolboxes at 75% off due to a sales glitch on Home Depot’s site. It’s all over Reddit this afternoon.

I don’t feel bad about it at all because I got a cousin that lives in Atlanta that worked for Home Depot corporate and they have been laying off all their American IT staff to bring in Indians who don’t really know what they are doing but work real cheap. And firing everyone. My cousin finally got laid off last year. They been downsizing their american workers for a while now.

Turns out there real bad at there jobs and now once a month I see a glitch for some Milwaukee stuff 80% off on Reddit that lasts a few hours before they fix it.

So any time I get a chance to get some glitched sales that are a loss to them I do it as a way to let them know how good their new staff is.

I don’t know how to set this up but.. for a long time I would get texts for the deal of the day stuff. I don’t remember setting that up or know why it ended. But if you can that might be the ticket.

Honestly it’s not really worth it. The deals seem to come up randomly about once every month or two and people on Reddit hit it hard for a couple hours and corporate realizes the mistake and starts canceling orders.

So you got to be aware of it within the first hour and be willing to stop everything to do an in store pickup since once they start canceling orders, any shipped orders will be cancelled. And you have to have the local store to you with stock. And you got to risk wasting your time to stop everything to go there and have the order canceled by the time you get there.

Some people did get some sweet Milwaukee $1000 sets for $100 last week on a mistake that lasted about an hour.

I just happened to be going to Home Depot anyway and caught it on time and got lucky and now I got a bunch of different size pack out drawers for $40 to $70 each that retail for 150 to 200 each

I think my last order pickup might have been a glitch. It was a good deal, but not a too good to be true deal. Must have waited at customer service for an hour with my impatient three year old before they told me they had to cancel my order or get the grease gun (without free item) at a not so great deal. Everyone was genuinely confused. I probably should have picked up sooner rather dragging my feet. Probably helped me kick my Milwaukee purchasing addiction for 6 months before the good deals convinced me to come back again.

Theft? I don't think so. Who's to say it's an obvious error? 75% off sales, penny pricing, etc., though rare, DO happen.

Even if it IS an "obvious" error, sure, cancel the order, but don't BAN a current / future buyer.

Yes, correct. There are people serving time for exploiting these kinds of glitches, though typically they don't prosecute unless a person does it a lot. Classic case is the teens that exploited a gift card glitch.

Banning customers is the more common penalty. Most of the companies are using the same third party companies that aggregate data to identify patterns of behavior that cost stores money and profit. Bad enough to be banned from HD, but people are even more upset when they find they have also been banned from Lowes, TSC, Amazon, etc. for that one situation.

Should I setup an HD burner account under my spouse?!?
That may not work, they correlate address, credit card, etc.

The only successful fix others have reported is a completely new credit card at a completely different address with a different name.

and don't forget a new IP address 😁

I guess I would have preferred HD to alert customers of their behavior, rather than give this generic "your payment isn't working, try a different card or call your bank," nonsense. Is it my cc not working, or you not wanting it to work? 🤔 Don't tell me to waste my time calling your customer service or my cards, when you clearly know that isn't the issue. Tell me I buy too much, and I'll go back to personal spending habits there.

New Quarter deal signage is now up in stores for the 4th quarter. Free 8ah Forge with several tools, and then the typical front end BOGO deals.

Well I guess when I get banned from every online vendor, it's probably a good sign that my Milwaukee addiction has gone too far. This being said am always looking for those Milwaukee unicorn deals. I think the most I scored was 2 m18 rocket lights at $99 about 6 years ago or so and then maybe picking up a blower and hedge trimmer for $70 each when randomly walking through the store back when I lived near a good HD so hopefully I am not tripping any algorithms. I also go to sleep at night at peace knowing I didn't try order 20X of a too good to be true item for resale purposes. If I do commit a sin, potentially accidentally, wish HD would just be upfront and cancel my order right away. Mistakes happen and I get it. Just rather get to point B right away.

Well that makes sense. I don't flip stuff, so it would never have occurred to me to do something like that.

Having said that, I have a cousin who had set up an Amazon store, and "stocked" it with clearance items from big box stores. I doubt they got rich from it, but they said everything was legal and no one balked.

Of course, gift cards are essentially cash, so I could see that being more closely related to being a criminal activity. For hard goods, I still say, if it's a clearance price, it's fair game.

The battery return game is closer to "theft" than coming across a great deal, there's a much better case that there's actual intend to defraud.

The battery return "game" is perfectly legal when you purchase in store and the items are separate SKUs. They are listed on the receipt with a prorated max return value for each item. If the receipt stated something along the lines of "all items included in promo must be returned to receive a refund" it would be different.

That being said, I have only done this two or three times over the last five years for personal purchases.

I know. I don't think any of this is illegal. You're buying using their system and their rules. If their programmers screw up, it's a cost of doing business (that we all ultimately pay for, etc.).

I don't think it's a screw up. Returning a "free" battery for a prorated return value has been a thing for at least 5 years. They are well aware of it and have had ample time to fix it.
