so, I bought one of the staplers (2447-20) at home depot yesterday for 66.22$ (plus tax)

HD is offering a free battery deal, where you get a free 2AH M12 with select tools:

https://www.homedepot.com/s/free%20m12?NCNI-5

while they are offered as a bundle online, in store they are stocked and billed as separate items. I took the two of them to the self check out, and scanned them. the screen indicated that they were on sale, and listed the refunds for each item separately right here on the screen. I paid, went and put the stapler in the truck, and looped around to the customer service desk, where their only question was "is there anything wrong with it?". I answered no, they scanned the receipt, had me sign the credit card widget, and gave me back my receipt and another for the refund of 32.78 (plus tax).

here is an image of the original receipt showing the refund amounts:

Screen Shot 2018-12-04 at 08.50.05.jpg

I know that some people don't like this, considering it cheating, or worse. I have decided that since HD goes right there on the receipt and publishes the prorated refund amounts, they must be OK with it. HD doesn't want you returning the main item, and keeping the free one, but clearly they are OK with you returning one item. they could mark the receipt "must be returned together for refund", after all.

this is the first time I have done it, and while I don't anticipate doing it a lot, I can see why people do it. I am swimming in 2AH M12 batteries I have gotten in kits and free offers like this (I haven't even opened one or two of them) and would rather have the 30$ than yet another unwrapped 2AH battery. now, if it was one of those new 6AH m12's (or even another 4AH) I would have kept it . . . .

Well a refund is a refund :wtf:

Interesting you mention the "return together" I had an issue with HD online long ago about a "free" battery offer where they had substituted a lesser battery for the ongoing promo. I wanted the correct higher amphr battery but all they had to say thru CS correspondence was to return everything if I wasn't satisfied. Another place that ranks at the very bottom of my list for a Milwaukee tool supplier

I personally can't say I have too many batteries and always having one in most of my tools is just convenient for me. An I got a lot of tools! :spit:

well, I have finished the day and looked at the tools I had taken out to use (all with a battery in them, one or two with their second battery of the day in them), and still had left over M12 and M18 batteries.

but I still had a fair number of unused tools left (and today, one more than yesterday:), but certainly more tools left over than batteries. . . .

you "win":)

Man that looks like a great buy, but I would still need a charger and batteries since this would be my first tool
Any deals out there for those?

So let me get this right. You bought the $99.00 stapler and battery deal, right? I never saw it for $66.22
Then you returned the Battery for a $32.78 credit. Making it a final cost of $66.22.

nice.

yes, worth 66$ (to me), not worth 99$.

they beat this kind of thing to death over on the HD deals thread. I thought it would be worthwhile to post it once, with a description (with Images!) of the process here. if they are packed that way from Milwaukee, with the spare battery included in the box with the tool, it won't work. it requires them to be in separate packaging.

using the self checkout allows you to make sure that it will work, since it puts the details of the return right there on the screen before you commit. easy to verify in store, fraught with peril if you try it online. might work, might not.

The ones it works for online will show the breakdown. You can get the new small M18 radius light for ~$95, this way with the combo kit. Ryobi deals are often broken down more frequently that Milwaukee online

you are right, when I add the driver set (269$) to my cart, and the light (149$), it reduces the prices to reflect the deal, which is also 269$.

I have thought about getting one of those lights. I wanted the 4400 lumen, but they are expensive, while the these 2200 lumen ones . . . . . . .

seems to me that the M12 offer was good until sometime in January. is this deal also good until then?

google express (express.google.com) is having a "promotion" with Home Depot. get 20% off (up to 20$) code HOLIDAY18 (one use, says "first order", but they are offering it to me even though I have already ordered) when you order through express. on the good side, it appears that the floor for free shipping is 15$. on the bad side, not everything is available.

of course, just because I didn't find anything I wanted doesn't mean you won't . . . .

Yeah 20% off up to $20 is a worse deal than it was before. Google Express usually has no limit or a higher limit (not entirely sure) on their percent off coupons. I've been waiting for a 25% off code to order the 3/8 stubby impact kit.

it is getting harder to find deals, especially ones that stack. toolup.com has lowered the threshold for free shipping to 99$ for the next few days' , but you need to use a code (SHIP99). but they only allow you to apply one code per transaction. if you have another discount, you need to choose.

can't blame them, I suppose, but the manufacturers have really tightened their grip, and finding interesting deals gets harder as their names get added to discount exclusion lists (or the discounts are only for specific brands).

My Milwaukee ½" impact tool showed up last night.... dropped hard on the porch at 10:30pm after I was a sleep.

Luckily it was still there this morning. Ring doorbell caught the whole thing. Roadway Package Service would not be my first choice.

if anyone out there is looking to add to their m28 collection...
this seems like a decent deal for $99.

i think the picture used is wrong, as it is a 7/16 HEX drive

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...Hex-Impact-Wrench-Tool-Only-0799-20/203361160

pic of actual item:
https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Power-Tools/Fastening/0799-20

Cool thanks for heads up although those are huge and underpowered by today's standards. Although possibly good for driving huge lags etc, which is what the 7/16" hex drive is about

I just got back from HD and did the same deal.
$99.00 Self Checkout of the Stapler
Scanned the $49.95 M12 Battery and it gave me a $49.00 credit on the screen.
Paid $99.00 + Tax
Receipt looked exactly like the posted receipt. I asked the self checkout lady if it was OK to just return the battery. She said yes but you'll only get the $32.78 credit.
I have not decided if I want the battery yet. I have two others.

One note is that I saw the Bare Rotary Tool for $69.00 on the shelf - no promo. Acme shows it at $79.00. And so does www.homedepot.com.... Not sure what the deal is there.

two new 2AH M12's (stripped from kits) 49$ shipped:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/302982309072

one for 30$ shipped:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/223201064563

when I was first looking, there was a guy selling them for 25$ shipped, one at a time. I bought two, a week apart. if he had put more than one up, I would have bought two, and he could have saved a bit on the shipping.

while 32$ isn't a great deal, it really isn't a bad deal if you need more batteries.

I have noticed that the people manning the returns desk don't care why you are bringing it back, they only want to know if it can just go straight back to the shelves ("is there anything wrong with it?", which, actually, is encouraging).

Reselling them at a low(er) price is a public service for us tool guys! $30.00 is cheaper than they ever are as a single item new, no? And seems like a good deal as you say. At $25.00 I would have bought two!

They’re probably parting out kits. Buy a $200 kit with a free tool. Sell the 2.0 for $25-$30, the 4.0 for $40-$50, the drill for $75, the impact for $75, and the free tool is basically pure profit.

Ya, same boat. I haven't used a stapler in more than a few years. Ibuave one project coming up I will be using a pack at least. Got the manual Milwaukee stapler, but for $66 to add another powered Milwaukee to my imaginary Milwaukee swat like vest of tools, hard to argue.

Is anyone in the market for a KO set? My local rep is running a promo and if I get an extra set he is throwing in a few goodies. I don't need as many as he wants me to buy though. Would pass the savings along if anyone here is interested.

I couldn't resist and bought the rotary tool also... I went back after work and absolutely on the mobile rack on the top shelf where the secure display tool was it was labeled $69.00.

On the lower shelf where the boxes are it was lableled $79.00.
Same SKU on both tags.

I walked over to the self checkout gal about 20 feet away and told her that there were two prices. She said "Bring it over we'll scan it". I did and it came up $79.00. She gave me $10.00 off without even walking over to verify it.
FYI this is in Pleasanton Ca.

My wife is gonna give me the evil eye. I'll leave it in my car for a month.

I agree and that's cool with me. Heck the flood of these pieces on eBay may drive the cost down for eBay shoppers.. It does look like and some of the cheapest batteries could be counterfeits IMHO

yep. if what you get does not match the image provided, and you use PayPal, they will cover you.

for something like this, I only purchase from someone with a long history and plenty of positive feedback. also make sure that the feedback is recent. sometimes even great accounts go dormant, and someone breaks into them and starts scamming as long as they can get away with it.

but I have bought a few that way (too many M12's early on, based on the status of the shelf). but, as I have said, the only things I regret are the deals I didn't buy.

to be clear, you don't want the "kit" (2447-20-48-24-2420). you want a stapler (2447-20) in a retail box, and a 2AH battery (48-11-2420) in a retail hanger package. if the local store stocks both, you are all set.

traditionally, the "kit" (item and free battery) are included in one package, and listed as one item on the receipt. the free battery won't come in a retail package. they come sealed in a plastic bag. this is what you see sometimes on ebay for real Milwaukee batteries. they are real Milwaukee batteries, stripped from kits.

even if you luck out, and get them as separate retail items, the receipt won't list them separately, and you won't be able to return one.

That's what I did with the stapler. They did not have a "KIT", The sign on the display showed the included items. You grab one of the tools and one of the batteries separately.

What is the best deal on the M12 3" cut off tool only?

It looks to me like Tool Nut for $104 shipped may be the best deal going right now. Anybody know of a better deal?

There was a lot of hype about that tool, but a lot of users are saying it is almost a useless tool. Way underpowered mini grinder.

I saw a few reviews of it that were positive. Maybe I'll have to check again.

I don't suspect they'll charge me sales tax in AZ, but they don't seem to have a listing of what states they collect sales tax for.

If there is no tax in your state they won't add tax. Remember, sellers collect tax, they don't charge.
