Is the 7/9” grinder worth $200? I’ll have to double check but I think it comes with a free battery.

What's the best place/way to get a deal on some M12 batteries?

I don't mind waiting for a deal, but after picking up a 3rd tool, only having 2 batteries is getting annoying.

Yeah, when I bought he M12 brushless combo last week, the free tool options were 3/8" ratchet, right angle drill, or a 6AH battery. They had no 6AH batteries left, and I figured I could always get a ratchet later. I presented the 2-pack of 3AH batteries at the register. It took some doing and about 20 minutes of the department rep dancing, but eventually they caved and let me take those batteries. One can never have enough batteries

My plan, which has been executed yesterday, was to order a 3/8" ratchet, as part of a kit and get more batteries and chargers. I ordered the ratchet with the hacksaw.

Also, my main purpose was to have smaller, more agile tools, and the 6AH battery doesn't fit that profile, IMO.

I'm also keeping my M12 stuff as 'nimble' as possible, so I'm sticking to the 2.0AH.

If I have a big project that needs more run time, I'll grab my 18V stuff.

The M12 line has been perfect for all the small to medium projects I need to tackle.

In M12 I've got a bunch of 2.0 and some 1.5 batteries along with two of the 6.0 batteries. I usually stick to the 2.0 or 1.5 batteries, but the big ones are perfect for the rocket light, bluetooth speaker, and standing up the soldering iron when it's still hot. If I'm using the stubby impact for a full tire rotation I usually use the 6.0 on it, smaller jobs the 2.0 is fine. I got most of my extra batteries as a bundle with a single tool purchase.

In M18 I've got a couple 2.0, a few 5.0, and a couple 9.0 (for the leaf blower and sometime the shop vac). I use mostly the 5.0 on different tools, but I like having a couple of the smaller 2.0 for the surge driver and a regular drill.

M12 is great for most things, but I had M18 first and I still need some of the larger tools. I try to avoid duplicate tools in both formats, but I may end up with a M12 surge driver too.

My current list, most purchased in the past 12 months:
M18
Fuel Mid torque 1/2" impact
Fuel Hammer drill
Fuel Surge driver
Fuel 4.5"/5" grinder with paddle switch
Fuel Gen 2 blower
Wet dry vac
Portable fan
Bluetooth Speaker M12/M18
brushless impact driver -not used often
old brushed drill - in my traveling tool cart
old brushed impact driver - in my traveling tool cart

M12
Fuel 3/8" stubby impact
Fuel 3/8" ratchet
non fuel 1/4" ratchet
Rocket light
single speed screwdriver (2401-20, great tool for cheap)
90 degree angle drill
Rotary tool
Soldering iron

I haven't purchased any of the saws yet. I wouldn't mind a sawzall and a circular saw, but my corded tools are generally meeting my needs.

I grabbed the M12 bandsaw and it meets my needs..... Sorta underpowered and you are limited on what fits into the "mouth" but it is lightweight and easy to handle for overhead work. As an electrician I use it mainly for cutting EMT and threaded rod and it gets the job done quickly.
I use the 120 volt corded Porter Cable porta-band for anything heavy duty and this "bad boy" never quits!

that M12 starter kit with inflator might set a new low price depending on what parts you want. that's pretty awesome

the M12 stapler is ok but Ryobi has a new tool that's better

After having my brother borrow my inflator enough, I think I'll be grabbing him one.

Ryobi may have a new tool, but I didn't know about it last week when I put in at 800 Staples. I have to think it's also decently heavier, and I know I want the lightest tool for stapling at least. I only paid $50 for mine though, butI do have plenty of Ryobi so platform isn't a concern.

I have 2 of the grinders and use them daily in my shop. Not as much power or rpm as the dewalt 11amp models but still plenty to run a cutoff wheel or flap disc. 5.0 battery and I can go for quite a while on them.

Are the charger kits then returnable?

Good to know, I will be using it strictly with a cutting disk. I'm tired if lugging around a generator when I need the grinder away from 120v. My only M18 tool at this point is the vacuum, and I only have (1) 5.0 battery for it, so it wouldn't hurt to have more.

Good question...I just bought the Ryobi 18V crown stapler for $44 after returning the battery kit. I'm guessing the Milwaukee is a higher-quality stapler though - can anyone confirm? I feel like the Ryobi 18V line is great for their "gadgets" that few others make, but not the best choice for durable tools. I've noticed that they do not appear to use any glass fiber in their shell plastics, resulting in a fairly weak shell.

It looks to me like they're pretty similar in design. And the Ryobi has a better feature set. It kind of looks like they launched the Milwaukee, saw what people liked and didn't like and then launched an improved Ryobi.

I love a decent deal, but some folks complain about bad batteries from there, etc. Anyone know a confirmed good source for these 12V batteries, aside from HD?

They should be legit. You can also get legit batteries from eBay. Just pay attention and make sure they’re real Milwaukee batteries. The knockoffs should be a different brand and say “for Milwaukee” or something similar. Most of them won’t be in retail packaging. They’re take outs from kits. People buy the kits and then sell the pieces individually.

I wonder if the 18V power offers any improvement over the 12V version. The Milwaukee 12V must be somewhat lighter, but I wonder if the 18V Ryobi is more capable when driving 9/16 staples in dense material?

it's a valid concern, one of Amazon's core businesses now is legitimizing counterfeits through their 3rd party seller program, this goes way beyond batteries. the counterfeiters aren't in the business of using key phrases like "for Milwaukee", they're actually trying to trick you and Amazon is overrun with them

They're the Milwaukee brand batteries. The issues people have are with the knock offs, which are easy to spot.

Also, it's amazon, so if there's any issue, they get returned.

Is this online and in store or in store only or online only?

Too bad I am driving to the Fargo HD on Friday the 21st. 3+ hours each way plus crossing the border. Cant go back on Monday as I am out west then...sigh

I hate the inflated price of the starter kits for these deals... but once the “free” tool is calculated some can be pretty good deals.

Won't know until it goes live, but they probably will have a limited quantity online for each combo. Usually they sell out online much faster than in store

Milwaukee 18 and 12 are HD's deals of the day. I don't care for the carryouts being offered with the brushless kits, but there are some good deals

Can some also confirm that the product selection has changed for them for the special buys? The Surge combo was not available this morning when I looked after 3am, then it was sold out when I saw posts about it being on the SBotD, but now they removed it from even saying it is sold out at the bottom, but now there are Milwaukee work shirts & a hoody?

Would have snapped one of those up in heartbeat had I known what time I should have stayed up until.

You have to make sure you’re looking at the Deal of the Day. Unless I get the email from HD, it’s sometimes a pain to find it.

Is the Deal of the Day somehow different than the special buy of the day? It is rather easy to find with Google:
https://www.google.com/search?q=home+depot+deal+of+the+day
first result:
https://www.homedepot.com/SpecialBuy/SpecialBuyOfTheDay

Yes, I have that page bookmarked. I try to visit it right after 3am EST every day. When I visited this morning, not all the bundles that were later available, were shown at that time. Then I started seeing posts about a Surge/drywall kit on GJ & ToolGuyd, so I went back, and it was added, but was sold out & was moved to the bottom of the page indicating so. Then an hour later I go to look at another bundle, and they removed the Surge/drywall kit, but now 4 shirts & a hoody were added.

If you go to the kits page, it does indicate it was a Special Buy of the Day, but not listed on the normal SBotD page. Even if an item sells out, it stays on the promo page, and I've never seen items added later in the day. I just hope this doesn't become normal (ie trying to follow in the Sears website footsteps, ok that's an impossible feat to match)

Thanks for trying to help. Figure only someone who looked at the page multiple times today might notice.

Would guess the Fargo store won't have it, they **** for Milwaukee stock in my opinion. They have quite a bit of competition around town, so they don't stock is my guess.
