I got to get myself a 3D printer but just really don't want to go down another Rabbit hole.
How much time and effort does it take to get a printer setup and running properly? I imagine your always fiddling and making adjustments. Are most files free if not what is the average cost?
Like any hobby, you get as invested as you want to be. If you want it to be where you just download files from the internet and hit print, I would suggest leaning towards a really nice printer like the Prusa brand, which you can even mostly assembled. If you are on a tight budget, Creality and some of the clone companies make printers under $200, but be prepared for a few hours of patient assembly. I went this route, and glad I did because I understand how it works fully now, but that certainly isn't for everyone.

There are a lot of files for free but really depends on what you are looking for. I would say just go thangs.com or thingiverse, search for something you would like to print, and see if it costs anything.

You can buy my printer (Ender 3) for about $100 now. When I bought it two years ago, I paid $220. Enclosure for printing ABS was $80. the cost of everything as it is today is about $500, but I probably spent $700 getting here, not counting filament.

if I was to get Another one now, I would have to decide with a very similar one, or make a quantum leap in print size or speed

That's great feedback, @Rusty67! I've seen some early models running, and that was slightly better than watching grass grow.

Hopefully, they'll get faster (and, to @pwhittle's point, cheaper) in coming years.

Here is a deal on eBay for an M18 stubby nozzle.

Not mine, but cheaper than I would want to print them for. They also support a choice of colors.

Thanks for posting this. I have some areas that this will be a big help with, plus drying the trucks.

Bruce also in VA and MD!

I just gave away my M12 fuel hackzall to a friend who wanted one. I wasn’t enamored with it. I couldn’t find anything I couldn’t do with a standard sawzall and the one handed design was awkward. I’m sure it has its place, but I used it just a couple times in the 2 years it took up space in my box.

I have the M18 hacksaw as well, which came free which a combo package. Other reviews have said cutting pvc is its best use, and I can't disagree with that. It's size is nice when compared to a recip saw, but it doesn't stand up well on its own and is fairly awkward to handle.

In short, if you are cutting a lot go with the recip saw, that stroke length makes all the difference.

M12 fuel, not m18 fuel

If you only had the m18, not fuel, I understand. The Fuel makes the difference. It has a longer stroke than the non-fuel. I use it all the time for branch pruning, and find it much more comfortable to use when branch pruning or when it makes more sense to use one-handed.

I just checked and it's the fuel. Don't get me wrong it's and excellent tool for certain cases, but it's no wrecking ball like a long stroke recip saw. I have the corded milwaukee super Sawzall and wouldn't say that I would ever give it up.

I just had to cut through hardened LCA bolts recently, and tried the hack vs Sawzall, and the hack was just no match. Again, likely the wrong application for the hack.

I just used the m12 fuel hackzall on an old gym ceiling located just above a modern dropped ceiling and it was great cutting strapping and drywall and plaster with one hand overhead in a tight space while installing new lighting. I brought my M18 sawsall but did not need to use it. And in a pinch it can cut through a 2x6.

Some of the "hot" deals that could actually be hot have been found on FB Marketplace.

The M12 non-Fuel is a tool that should have never been released.. after buying that dog, I stayed away from Milwaukee for five years.

Still leaves a bad tast every time I look at it.

Hackzall or something else?

Probably too soon but now watching this thread for a deal on the M12 Pin nailer. Played with one at HD and it would be super handy. Just not $200 bare tool handy

I just got my refurb pin nailer from Acme Tools for $140. Search for 2540-80.

I have the Ryobi pin nailer and it is indeed very handy. But the large 18V stem-style battery is not well suited for this type of tool, and I'm considering buying the Milwaukee M12. But $200 for the bare tool is much too expensive IMO.

Just in case you are interested in the Ryobi model, it is available for $112 (3-year warranty) or $83 (1-year/refurb):

The Northern Tools coupons you get in the mail are supposed to work with Milwaukee unless there is a free tool offered as part of the deal. Has anyone else had problems using these coupons on the NT website for Milwaukee? The website seemingly accepted the code with no errors, but no money came off the Milwaukee item I was ordering. NT definitely had the lowest price for the M12 fuel screwdriver I was buying after the $20 coupon. (Yes, the non fuel screwdriver has been way cheaper, but I wanted the Fuel.)

I ended up calling the 800 number for NT and placing the order that way, but it was a long painful experience on the phone.

Need to find a deal on the 0882-20 M18 Compact Hand Vacuum. Anyone running any general sales or promos on Milwaukee stuff right now?

If you are in NH, I have a lightly used one I would sell cheap. Honestly, it is my least favorite vacuum and thus least used.
