I love mine, use it every evening out in the shop. If it broke tonight I'd get another one to have while I was waiting on Milwaukee to warranty it.

I've been thinking about buying one to replace the 12-volt "trucker" fan in my RV. We dry camp (no utilities) quite often, and that thing really ***** down the coach/house battery.
The white noise that old thing makes sort of helps drown out noise from the seagulls that start squawking at pre-dawn hours...

To be fair the M18 is really old, came out before most of the other brands. I'm surprised it hasn't been updated yet. I know the M12 fan came out this year but I don't have a whole lot of M12, I stick to M18 when possible. I agree, the fan is not that great (performance & features) compared to all the others available today but again it's been out for a while.
It's a bit loud for my liking with not that great airflow but it does have decent runtime. Hate that it doesn't fit a 12.0, well it does but the 12.0 is too tall for the fan to sit on it's base. But whatever I only have one 12.0 anyway & never wanted to use it with the fan. 5.0 or 9.0 is what I've been using. I also hated the seperate AC adapter but I hacked mine to take care of that.

Stuffed the AC adapter inside the fan housing so only need to carry around a common power cord when needed.

(I emphasized common cause some people said the cord I choose is specialized. It's very common for me, I come across them free & they're cheap if I ever needed to buy one)
Oh I had no idea the M12 fan was louder & that it had no AC option (I never paid much attention to it though). Not being able to plug it in would have made me choose the M18 over the M12 also. I don't plug mine in much but I definitely would like the option to.
We like our M18 fans, have 2. I do quite a few outdoor art shows during the year and they are great for moving air around. They usually run all day on low or medium with a 5.0.
I view it as a personal fan, it’s not a whole room deal. But stick it right next to you on the ground pointing up or on a table or chair side table pointing right at you and it’s great.
If one quit I’d get another one.

Not a bad deal with the 8.0 battery. The blower works pretty darn well unless you have a huge yard and wet leaves.

What is the use case for the M12 Rotary Tool vs the M12 Straight Die Grinder? They seem to have comparable speeds. Does one fit the hand better? Is it only the collets that are different?

I don't own the M12 Rotary Tool but I have owned Dremels since I was a kid. Dremels & Proxxons are rotary tools. Rotary tools & die grinders are different style/use tools although some people think they aren't.
1st off rotary tools use 1/8" shank bits & die grinders use 1/4" bit shanks. Dremel like rotary tools are usually for hobby/craft use. More for fine detail work. They rely on speed rather than torque.
Electric straight die grinders (like the angle grinder size motors) were used a lot for hand porting. Often used with carbide burrs, stones, sanding drums. Pneumatic die grinders are much smaller, don't have as much torque as the electric straight die grinders. That is what the M12 right angle & the straight die grinders are trying mimic.
I have both the M12 right angle & straight die grinders. Even though Inhave the straight I still use my Dremels. With a Dremel you can choke up (grip) on it close to the spindle for detail work or hold it further on the body (turn the switch on & set the speed). The straight die grinder you have to press on the paddle level to run the motor & your typically holding it on the body far from the spindle, could use a second hand to hold closer to the spindle I suppose.
Me personally, I could live with out the M12 straight die grinder & just be fine with the M12 right angle & a Dremel. The M12 straight die grinder I mostly use with a 2" cut off wheel for lighter duty cutting & the occasional grinding with carbide burrs when I need it in a different orientation than the right angle.

I own both. I've never thought of them as the same, or even similar tools. I use the rotary tool for very small, light grinding/cutting/sanding work. It has a pencil grip (which I often use) to help in that precision-type work. The die grinder is more powerful and won't bog down or stop as easily as the rotary tool will.

Web site uses different sku numbers as bundles rather than in-store that uses separate sku numbers for each item. On in-store receipt, it shows the separate sku numbers and the discounted "return value" for each. Web site bundles have only one sku and can not separate them for individual return.
For the rare times on a web site order where you can have the items shipped separately (or have one as pick-up in-store), those will have separate sku numbers. In those instances, they will have separate sku numbers.
This "hack" has been going on for years. When you add the desired promotion tool(s) into your cart if the system breaks down each individual or group of tools each at a new discounted price within your cart you may have the option of returning an item you don't want and keep the desired tool retaining the discounted breakdown price for that tool. ymmv

I jumped on that 6.5" saw deal earlier today - I needed something smaller than my rear-handle, and $89 with a 5.0 is pretty damn hard to beat.
I've done the hack with Ryobi but not Milwaukee, but I think the procedure is the same.
When you add all of the items to your cart, there will be 2 lines on the receipt. One is for the tool+battery combo, and the other is for the "free" battery.
Select in-store pickup for both items. Then, for the item you don't want, change the pickup store to a different location that you will not pick up from. After 7 days, the pickup will automatically cancel. Or, you can pick up the unwanted item and return it immediately. The key is that the pickup stores *must* be different locations.
I ordered the sawzall, grinder, and 6.5" saw. Not 100% sure that I'm going to actually go through with the purchase as I'm already on FIVE battery platforms (including OPE). Should I really add a sixth?
