I just received an email from a friend, his neighbor purchased second hand a Miracle Truss building that had never been assembled. He decide to make it a bit longer and wanted to purchase some more trusses from Miracle Truss and he discovered Miracle Truss is no longer in business.

I had been considering a MT building myself because I wanted a large clear span steel building that I could easily stucco to match my house which is a HOA reqirement where I live.

I had earlier asked for leads to other companies that make a steel truss style building with wood girts and purlins so I could side it with OSB and stucco. I given the name Web Steel out of Sandy, OR. http://www.websteel.com/

Does anyone have any experience with this company they would share with me?

almost went with them or miracle truss , i really wanted a open sealing but my local building inspector wanted a engineer stamp on everything so i went with traditional pole barn construction with trusses spaced at 4 foot , good thing about stratospan is they have steel plants thru out the country so shipping or pick-up will be cheaper

Its a sign of the times. I copied a picture of a garage from their website, I wanted mine to look like. It had a 4' overhang along the whole length of it for firewood. Really nice garage.

I'm surprised their business model held up as long as it did. Where else can you pay for a whole building and get less than half? :D

I nearly hung up on them out of pure frustration with the sales rep when I was shopping for a building. See ya MT.

I was never impressed either. A co-worker has a garage built using the Miracle Truss columns and trusses, thats all. He finished the outside with OSB covered with siding. MT wanted a fortune for taller columns so he poured raised piers to get the height, it was cheaper to build wooden box forms and rebar and concrete than it was to pay their high price.

You were getting very little for the money, only selling point was low shipping (as you provided wood purlins locally) and "easy" erection due to light weight.

I went with web steel in may of 07. Good expirience. Paid roughly 12,500 for a 30x40 x14,fully insulated with 1 10x10 and 1 10x12 roll up door shipped 1100 miles to my door. You just need to know what you need in the bldg. snow load ,wind load ,sky lights ect... Its exspensive to have plans reengineered. mike

I have a 30X36 Miracle Steel Building I was going to put up on some property I was buying. I ended up loosing my job, selling the property, getting a divorce, being put through the ringer and now I still have the un-erected building in storage in my garage. I am interested in selling if anyone wants it. I live in Lansing, Michigan.

Krooser...I went to see the building you are referring to and it is nice. He did not build a stick building around the original building; the Miracle Truss design used only steel truss posts and roof trusses with wood girds and purlins between. The siding is then screwed to the wooden girds and the roof is attached to the wooden purlins. That is the design.

Web Steel of Sandy, OR produces a similar design as the Miracle Truss design and comes as a complete kit which includes both the wood and the steel.

HM,

My uncle has hay storage buildings from both Perka and Kentucky Steel.
He is very happy with both. He only went with KS the second time around
due to them being much closer to his place in Ohio.

If one or the other is closer, I don't think you could go wrong with either...

I will most likely go with one of the two for my place next year here in Florida.

CobraDriver, I understand the rule of thumb with steel buildings is to go with the outfit that is the closest to your location in order to keep the cost of shipping down as much as possible. Local is more better!

I have been very impressed with the people at Web Steel and those who I have spoken with are very happy with their buildings and service.

I have looked into Outback steel buildings and have been through a few and they are very nice for an all steel building.

I have to have a stucco exterior to match my house to get it approved by my HOA so I am still up in the air about what will be best for me.

If I go stick built I have to have it engineered, the steel buildings are more expensive material wise but you have no engineering. Shipping is expensive for steel buildings...Web Steel wanted $4600 to ship from OR to SoCAl.

HM,

I have no idea about Socal codes 'cause I bailed from there 15 years ago but.....

On my brothers garage we built in Ohio he had a similar situation. Even though
he was way out in the country the commisioner said if he made it match the house
he could build anything he wanted.

So we started with a pole building. After the poles were up and the top ledger
boards were bolted in place we poured the floor. When the floor was framed we added
rebar and forming to pour the slab and raise the sides 18" up between
the poles. Basically between each 6x6 was a solid concrete wall 18" high.
Then we used standard trusses 2' on center and sheathed and shingled like the house.

On the outside we used OSB with vinyl siding over that. You might be able to do this
and use mesh and stucco over the outside...
The nice thing is we framed 2' on center between the posts and then used 2'x6"
insulation and drywalled the inside. You could never tell it was a pole building
but it saved the huge expense and labor of footers.

Like I said I have no idea if you could get and engineer to sign off on
something like this...

I have looked into having a steel building with sheet steel sides stuccoed. I have seen a few and like you say, you would never know it was a steel building.

Steel buildings are not popular in SoCAl, so I think it would be better for me to stick build the garage so it is like construction to the house...would ad to property value rather than decrease it. I actually would prefer a steel building, but the cost of lumber right now is lower than steel and the prices for stick built are coming in considerably lower than for steel.

My wife is really pushing me to begin construction, but my conservative nature looking at the economy says to hold off because the money maybe more important in the future than a garage. I am retired so any construction costs have to come out of savings and once out they don't go back in at my stage of life.

I used Web Steel to build my Shop. Their plans went over real well at the county planners office. Well engineered. I did change the plans tfrom Metal exterior to OSB with Hardie Board and Asphalt roofing to match my House up here in Wa State. It is a 30'X36' X16' 8 windows and a 12'X14't rollup door. Insulated and heated. built it myself with the help of a few friends to pour the concrete.

Pretty much the same with Web Steel in Sandy, OR, they produce a kit INCLUDING the wood for just a little more than Miracle Truss would charge just for the steel posts and trusses.

I think the Web Steel/Miracle Truss type system is a good system and does make a nice sound building. I have been through several and they finish real nice.

I know a few different people who have been happy with Web Steel out of Sandy, OR. One has a 40x80x14, one has a 30x40x12 and one has a 60x40x10 with two shed roofs off the sides. They are all very happy with their buildings.

I'm working on finishing the inside of my 42x60x14 Miracle Truss building. I bought it from someone who never put it up and paid about %25 of the cost at the time. I'm happy with the structure and my situation doesn't really apply for the price.

I really like this style building since I'll be able to have 6" of insulation in the walls and roof and still have clear span and pretty much a "rest of my life" wall and roof covering. I also really like that there's no wood in the ground here where it rains over 60" a year.

I Had been wanting a Miracle Truss building for years but couldn't afford it. After finding out that they went under I did some research and found the company that bought a lot of their equipment and makes the exact same web truss. Talked to Mark at Worldwide Steel Buildings and finally bought one this sumer for much less than I was ever quoted by Miracle Truss, 30X48X10 for $9800. Easy number to remember too when I finally found them 866-50-STEEL. Did it all myself and i'm and love finally having room for my lift.

I saw a presentation on this at the Columbus, OH GoodGuys rod run, seems like a good system.

They say:
"Legacy Building System features the Easy Span engineered Steel Structural Truss. This clear span truss provides up to 33% more usable building space."

I built a 40 x 42 ft miracle truss building about 3 years ago. I bought it because I wanted to build the building myself and I wanted a clear span garage. it cost way too much. I didn't know there were other options like it out there so when I decided to build my shop here in iowa after moving I went with an all steel building. I had a 40 x 60 ft building built in about a week with the concrete poured, and fully insulated for about the same price as my miracle truss building that took me 3 months of weekends and evenings to build. I did like having the wood purlins for finishing the inside however. but my shop is great and a lot less headaches.

Hello.

I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me out.

I purchased a Miracle Truss building shortly before they closed their doors and only recently have been able to start erecting the building. Unfortunately, Miracle Truss only provided me with a partial set of instructions and did not give me a full assembly guide for the building.

With the instructions I have, I was able to complete all of the framing of the building. What appears to be missing are the details and illustrations I need for the flashing and metal trim in order to correctly put the siding and trim on the building frame.

Does anyone who may have purchased a Miracle Truss building in the past happen to have a complete assembly guide that they would be willing to mail me a copy of? I'd (obviously) be willing to reimburse anyone for material costs, postage, or any other expenses surrounding making and sending the copy of the assembly guide to me.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Hi,
I am in the same boat. I bought a 72X42X16 Miracle Truss building off of Craigslist, with no instructions. Trying to get instructions from MiracleTruss proved fruitless. They wanted $$$ then next thing they are gone. So I too am looking for plan instructions, so if you find any and want to share contact me at:
[email protected]

I am up in Duluth,MN building outside Superior,WI

Disappointed in WorldWide....
We have a Kentucky Steel Building on our property and love it. We put it up ourself and we are ready to buy another one. I was told that they closed, so we started looking for other web truss companies. Miracle Truss was bought out by WorldWide Buildings. The rep at WorldWide told me that KSTB was closed, that Worldwide supplied them with trusses, that KSTB had many complaints, and that WorldWide was looking at buying out the facility of KSTB. I thought it odd that this rep was trying so hard to "fend off" my questions about KSTB and Miracle Truss. So I did some research. KSTB has closed, but was reopened by some of its employees. They have a new office location for sales. Their number is still the same, great customer service on the phone, the price was very competitive, close to what we paid in 2006. We will probably buy from them. They are now just Kentucky Buildings. The rep at WorldWide lied to me. Kentucky Buildings has their own plants, where they make the trusses, the framing and the sheet metal. We are pleased with the price and are going to tour the facilities and meet some of the staff. The persons involved in the complaints online are no longer employed at Kentucky Buildings and I asked specifically about those complaints which were addressed and not dodged by the KY Building rep. Sad that Miracle Truss closed because we have friends that have one of those buildings, but I would not recomend WorldWide after the lies and run-around I got. I will let you all know how our visit goes at Ky Buildings.

You can usually spot the shysters right off by the name of the company, "worldwide" is a good one, "global", "universal", "international", etc, are names that tell me to simply steer clear or ignore them as a outfit I would not bother to do business with.

Sorry to bring up an old thread as my first post, but in reading through several threads here in the past week about pole barns/steel buildings I saw Miracle Truss mentioned several times, so I Googled them and went to their website. Just this morning I came across this thread about them closing their doors.

I don't know if their past website name was MiracleTruss.com, but their current website is steel-buildings-direct.com. I read above how World Wide Steel Buildings bought out Miracle Truss, but both have current websites.

http://www.steel-buildings-direct.com/

http://www.worldwidesteelbuildings.com/

Does anyone know what the deal is with MT being 'back' in business?

Idaho Joe,
How much would you charge me for a copy of the plans for your miracle truss building?
I bought one never erected, but have no paper work other than a freight bill.
Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Miracle Truss Buildings - OPEN!!

....he discovered Miracle Truss is no longer in business.

Friends! Miracle Truss is reborn!
With a love for the Miracle Truss name and a passion for the building style, Corey Secrest, a former team member from the original company (which shuttered during the economic downturn) has registered the rights to the name while also adding new, innovative design elements to the clear-span steel truss building system, enabling an open cathedral-style ceiling. The specialized web steel trusses are U.S.-manufactured by quality-oriented craftsmen who have been fabricating steel truss buildings for 35+ years (allowing the new operation to offer a 50-year Frame Warranty).

Miracle Truss caters to the ultimate DIY-er: instructions are simple and the company’s dedication to customer service means that your project will be completed the right way the first time. The steel trusses come in 4 bolt-together pieces that are test assembled at the factory ensuring a perfect fit upon delivery to your jobsite. The kits are unique because they utilize steel trusses for strength and wood in the walls and ceiling for flexibility, allowing you to finish off the inside, add doors or windows, and incorporate normal batt-style insulation. Miracle Truss owed me money when they went out of business and they were nowhere to be found. I thought this was them back in business so I had my lawyer check and its just some one man band broker using the Miracle Truss name. He said the guy is just a middleman who probably got the website somehow. He used to work for Worldwide Steel Buildings that manufacter those kind trusses. That might be where he gets buildings to sell. Thaought I got lucky but nope.
